It Wednesday and it's of course, pizza night. Our usual pizza joint, Stella's in Altona, has been disappointing as of late, so we decided to call an audible - in American football, an audible is play called by the quarterback at the line of scrimmage to make a change from the play that was called in the huddle - meaning a change of our pizza venue to somewhere a little more local. What more local than conveniently across the train station.
The lady longed for cheese; I longed for the pepperoni, so we placed a phone order for the Hawaiian, the Americano (of course), and a liter of Coke.
Hawaiian - not sure what makes it Hawaiian other than the use of ham and pineapple, but nevertheless, the fresh ingredients shine,
Americano - thin, crunchy crust, not overly cheesed, but nicely caramelized to a point of crunch, alongside mushrooms and pepperoni.
We washed both pizzas down with a large order of chips, made to order, golden and crispy with a side of rich gravy.
Definitely glad this spot is local and produces solid product. If they had pizza-by-the-slice, I'd be close to loitering this establishment. read more
