Can be crowded and tough to maneuver in and out the door with a line, but they are really working hard behind the counter to move quickly. We were visiting the campus and found out that Buckeye Donuts was just plain tradition. So after eating our share of Anthony Thomas buckeye chocolates which are literally at every checkout stand at every store in Columbus, we had to have a buckeye donut. First off, the girl working the counter was just awesome. Great attitude! The actual place is really small but has this vintage diner feel which we loved. The lady and I stopped here before our day trip to Cleveland. Breakfast sandwiches - delicious. I got the sausage one (kielbasa I think). It's a good balance of egg, cheese, and sausage. Donuts - unique. Pumpkin and blueberry are good. Prices - OK. $10 for 2 breakfast sandwiches, 2 donuts, and a coffee. A little pricey in my book, but nothing to revolt about. Side note: Ambiance was admirable. Cashier knew people by name. People brought in their own coffee cups. They say the best places to eat are the places that the locals eat at. My boyfriend started taking me here around the time we started dating, and it is the quintessential college campus diner. It's one of those places that, if you go to OSU, you will definitely go here at some point. The menu is pretty extensive. In addition to donuts, they also have a good breakfast menu and Greek food. The owners are super nice and love their regulars. During the week, they have specials on gyro combos and breakfast sandwiches. They are also open 24 hours a day. If your roommate is pissing you off or brings all their friends to your room late at night - go here. It can get a little loud, but I still never have a problem studying here. read more

Ahh where to start. This place is just the best. They are THE Ohio State. They are the reason Lebron and Urban Meyer came back to Ohio. They are gods gift to High street. It's a shame that local politicians haven't deemed this place a historic landmark. I've been coming to buckeye donuts for many years. Sometimes at 4am for an epic #1 combo after a long night out. After reading all the great reviews we got some gyros and donuts to go from Buckeye Donuts recently. The Buckeye donut was an iced donut that you would find at most donut shops with filling inside, but this one had chocolate icing with a dab of peanut butter on top, no filling and it was not fresh, and I would expect fresh from a 24 hour joint The gyro is small, but priced less accordingly. The gyro meat was not good, in fact, I didn't finish mine because of the odd taste even after picking off the overpowering onions. Service was good and prices are good, but I wouldn't go here again, unless it's after hours and there was nothing else in the area open, even then I would not order a gyro. As for the others in my party that also had the food, they are of the same opinion. read more

I went for the first time today and can't say how good the experience was. The cashiers were funny, friendly, and personable. The donuts were SO fresh... we ended up getting seconds to take some home ^_^. I also had a breakfast sandwich and tots which all came out made-to-order and piping hot. There is a hige variety of donuts and some very original flavors along with all the classics. I would DEFINITELY recommend the buckeye donut. read more

Showed up at close to midgut, got a half a dozen donuts, went home, and died of happiness. They were SO good, and the staff was really nice. They mentioned coming early in the morning for the freshest donuts, but I was very happy with what I got. The eclair filling is super good and creamy, and even the regular glazed was really good. Stopped here once for some cream filled doughnuts (long johns or bismarks, whichever tickles your fancy) and was a little disappointed as the donuts tasted stale and didn't have much cream. They were Krispy Kreme level doughnuts which I hate for the same reason. Give me Jolly Pirates or Der Dutchman over this place any day. "Gyros, at a breakfast joint? Eugh!" The uninformed reader may be saying to himself. However, the gyros offered here are great, and very affordable to boot. After overcoming your trepidation and ordering a gyro I'm sure you'll be hooked. The only complaint is the seating area is very limited and the place gets slammed during breakfast and lunch hours. Definitively love this spot. I have been going to Buckeye Donuts every since my Freshmen year at OSU. Everything on the menu is basically excellent. I have tried everything from their breakfast sandwich, gyros, to their donuts. The donuts were pretty good but don't waste your time with the breakfast sandwiches. I ordered an egg and cheese on a croissant, it took 15 min to make and the croissant was hard and dry and it all just tasted like grease. Would be nice if they told you that the meat and eggs were cooked on the same cooktop especially if you are a vegetarian. read more

very dry is all I have to say. unless you want to dunk your donut these are not what you want for nine dollars a dozen. the yeast donuts have a heavy yeast taste and the fritters were raw in the middle. they had a donut deal buy 4 cake get 1 free. i chose 5 cake donuts, but since i added a fritter and cinnimon wheel they said i could not get the deal. the deal was only for an order of 5 cake donuts and nothing else. clearly not mentioned on the sign. read more
