EV charging station at Buc-ee's, Madisonville
Bruce K.

Our third Buc-ee's on this trip and the first one in Texas. This one in Madisonville is very consistent with the brand, from the large covered gas pump areas, the huge inside shopping area with jerky and fudge and "fresh brisket on the board!" and of course, the cleanest restrooms. At 5:00 pm on a weeknight, it was quite busy. Mrs. K. is now addicted to the Beaver Nuggets that are drizzled with caramel. Light crunchy corn pops with sugar, it's easy to zip through a bag if you're not careful! We picked up our fridge magnet as well and were on the way after about 20 minutes. It's hard to rate a Buc-ee's as anything less than five stars. Clean, efficient and a great spot for snacks. [Review 362 of 2026 - 686 in Texas - 25548 overall]

If you're doing a road trip through Texas and need to stop for a restroom break, Buc-ee's is a great spot. We stopped on our trip from Dallas to Houston for the Houston Rodeo. The bathrooms are always clean and there are so many that I've never had to wait. This is good for a women's bathroom. The food options are also great. The ambiance and service are excellent. The only drawback to going to Buc-ee's is the crowd. There's always a lot of people there.

I've come to this Buc-ee's a couple of times and I've gotten great quick service. They have a large selection of foods and merchandise. The employees are happy to be here. The bathrooms are cleaned as to be expected. Bi matter how busy it is like during the holidays I can get it and out quickly because it's always staffed fully.

The place to be if you are on a road trip in TX

If you are in TX on a road trip, Buc-ee's is the place to be even if you don't need gas. Their restrooms are like mall parking where they have red light, green light directing guests to occupied versus vacant stalls. Their massive restroom was well kept with no broken stalls and it was clean even though it was pretty busy. Their massive selection of jerkies will have you stand there contemplating what to get (you can ask for samples). The hot food area always have a line (which this location did as well). And don't forget to grab their famous candied pecans that are sweet and crunchy and the beaver nuggets (these are strategically placed near the cash register). Staff here worked quickly were friendly. Some gas pumps were occupied by people who were not pumping gas so pay attention to see if someone is inside the car before you line up for gas. They have a separate parking lot for customers who are not getting gas.

Initially, I thought there was only one Buc ee's between Houston and Dallas, but this is the first of two--the other is located in Ennis. But if you happen to be taking a road trip to Fort Worth (as I was), and you take the 287 exit, you can go to the Buc ee's in Fort Worth but will miss Ennis. Anyways, Madisonville is a good first stop coming out of Houston. However, it can get really crowded in this location--the most crowded Buc ee's I've ever experienced. I still think of the Baytown and Texas City Buc ee's locations as my favorites, and I would rate both a 5. This Buc ee's is just a 4, in my opinion. If I'm hungry and stopping at a Buc ee's, sometimes I'll grab a chopped brisket sandwich. I remember when these only cost $5-6. These days, it's basically an $8 sandwich. The one I got had way too much gelatinous fat in it (I do like the tiny amount of fat between the bark and brisket when sliced). This makes me rethink getting it. Granted, most BBQ places charge over $12 for chopped brisket anything these days. But I probably won't be as quick to grab one next time. I also think this Buc ee's should have been designed differently, but that's just me. I think the sections lacked prominent signage. The restrooms are placed towards the end of one's walk across the store. I thought the restrooms could have been cleaner, but there was no visible attendant as I've seen at other Buc ee's locations. Re: gasoline, most fill up spots were taken, so it was kind of tough to find a place to fill up. The best part of my visit was the friendly cashier at checkout. 4/5

Beef Jerky

The smell of freshly made fudge, hand-turned roasted cashews, and slices of warm brisket lets out a sigh of relief in me when I enter a Buc-ee's. The crowd gathers like a grand opening of a new restaurant, consisting of families on long roadtrips or locals driving half an hour for a weekly restock. For newcomers, the idea that a gas station can be so yearned for is almost unheard of. But in Texas, an instrumental part of driving through cities is stopping by one of these coveted sanctuaries. My favorites at Buc-ee's: Sweet and Spicy Beef Jerky: Biting into the refrigerated, bulk section samples hits me two-fold: I initially taste the sweetness, pairing well with the savoriness of dried beef. Moments later, a slow burn begins to build within my taste buds, a numbing sensation starts at the center of my tongue. I ask for a second sample, and it quickly hits a crescendo, for two small pieces is all there is needed before I quickly head to the bottled water rush to the cashier. Yet the feeling is addicting. Once the spice leaves me I am yearning for more. I ask for 2lbs to take home. Lemon pepper: For those not as adventurous, lemon pepper offers a flavor profile that is an equal match without the mental battle. The beef is cured a little tougher with less brown sugar, requiring the jaw a couple more chews before malleable enough to eat. The pepper stings in variant intervals, but the faint lemon flavor radiates through you, leaving enough to reach again and grab another piece of jerky.

None of us had ever been to a Buc-ee's and we all decided that we'd have at least one experience shopping and just looking around. A few of the staff members were pleasant and some were kinda rude when you asked them questions. This Super Center gas station, is massive on the inside and the flow of business is phenomenal. Who ever had the thought process to create such a Gas station that offered decent food, quality clothing, and attire. Was Brilliant, We got a few tacos and burritos. Excellent, very tasty food. If I'm ever in TX. I'll definitely stop at a Buc-ee's to grab a few things.

This was my first time at a Buc-ees. I arrived around 10:30 AM on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. This place is absolutely massive. The employees do an amazing job of getting the customers in/out in a timely manner. Restrooms are extremely clean. I really need to try the food but I haven't been hungry when I stopped. This is truly a highway destination and worth the time detour. I stopped at two more Buc-ees the next two days during my Texas travels.

This place is massive! Despite its size with nearly a hundred gas pumps or more and just as many bathrooms, this place is regularly packed with people. The good news is that the staff are amazing at serving customers and keeping the place clean and well stocked. I would always choose to go to a Buc-ee's over a smaller gas station because I can always count on the cleanliness of the facility. In addition, there is some delicious roadtrip snacks and food to indulge in. The wall of jerky is huge, but head to the back counter to get it freshly wrapped and sample some of the flavors they offer. Reserve time and stretch your legs while you browse through the merchandise they offer. If you forgot to pack something on your vacation, you can buy it here...bathing suits, beach towels, shirts, electronic accessories, BBQ grill, hammock, gifts, etc. They've thought of everything. Be sure to bring your out-of-state friends. While Buc-ee's is expanding across the US, they have the most locations right here in the Lone Star state.

This loved up to the hype that it's given. It was a well run operation, you saw the managers out on the floor and every team member was busy ensuring great guest service. They have such a wide selection of literally everything, . Food, they have you covered, clothing, yup that too, memorabilia yup that too, oh you said you want to take a shower, that too, oh you broke your deer feeder, pick that up here as well, dessert and fudge oh yeah they got that, your car needs oil and transmission fluid, umm yup, you need tools to do that job, yup. This is an experience in of itself.

I LOVE Buc-ee's!!! Cleanest bathrooms ever and such a great place to stop on road trips. They have fair prices on the snacks and drinks which is comparable to local grocery store prices. Their customer service is always great here, too! Overall, it's always a pleasure stopping here on our trips from Houston to Dallas. However, there's one massive issue that I really need for Buc-ee's to fix: vegetarian options!!!! They have a few counters dedicated to serving hot food and among them, they only have ONE vegetarian option total - a veggie burrito. They used to have a grilled cheese sandwich but that has recently disappeared. This is both disappointing and frustrating because we have to make an additional stop to find a vegetarian meal for both me and my husband as we're not a fan of this burrito here. Mr. Beaver, I know that you're a born-and-raised Texan, but please know that times are definitely changing and not everyone in Texas eats meat! Please, for the sake of all vegetarians out there, add a couple more menu options that don't include meat. I promise you will make more money if you can create more vegetarian menu options for us!! Please and thank you!

Can't believe that this is my first visit to Buc-ee's! We were traveling on I-45 and had to stop by to get gas. I was almost fascinated by how large and B U S Y it was!!! The bathrooms were busy, but I love how they have Texas-themed artwork on the walls and at the entrance. Additionally, there was seat sanitizer and hand sanitizer available in each stall!! I wish every bathroom had those. This was the highlight of my buc-ee's trip. I managed to take a small tour of the immediate area near the bathrooms. There were so many coffee options! If it weren't so late, i definitely would have tried it. They just had everything in abundance (go figure, since it's Texas...) including meats, drinks, snacks, etc. I think my pictures pretty much speak for themselves! Unfortunately, we were in a hurry to get home, so we didn't get a chance to really look around...except for whatever was on the way to the bathrooms...and back out the exit. Would I return? absolutely!!

Who doesn't love Buc-ee's, the Disneyland of convenience stores? It's always a destination stop anywhere I'm driving. In this instance, on the way to Dallas. Food and snack selection are plentiful. Beverage options run deep. The staff is always friendly, perhaps because they pay quite well. Cleanest bathrooms anywhere is their calling card. Don't forget to check out the merchandise. Gotta love the beaver.

I think the gas pumps have improved since the last review -- they're pretty average in that regard…read more The bathroom is still a giant mess and extremely dirty. Thankfully wearing my mask helped stave off the horrible smell. The store is also pretty disorganized, but if you're stopping for gas and a quick break, it's fine.

Nothing truly terrible happened, but I would not return here…read more We could barely read the screens on the gas pumps, which is ridiculous. I went into the bathroom and I don't like to throw around the word disgusting, but Jesus, it was filthy. Most of the stalls did not have working locks, the toilets haven't been cleaned since the 1980s (I mean I hope that's the explanation for how awful they looked) and even the diaper station had a layer of grime on it. I was so skeeved out. I was starving, so I took a peak to see if they had any hot food and there were two breakfast burritos left over from hours before and that was it. I assume their selection is limited because they are connected to a Subway. While looking at the questionable sandwiches I heard the employee relinquish the counter to a customer to man while he went to the back. I was just passing through the area so for all I know they are very close or this is normal for the area. However, upon hearing that I turned around and left- too weird and unprofessional for me. At least we were able to get gas. As we got back on the road, southbound, I saw a Buc-ee's on the other side of the highway. I suggest going there if you are in the area.
