I've just move here and haven't had a lot of BBQ form the south. So i have to say I'm not impressed. Ive had TX, AZ, CA, and a ton of other states and place's that had a lot better. I came early on a morning with a few people in. I think they could tell I'm not for here. I asked for some brisket, and was told they only had it on fri and sat. The meat here is so good. We drove a little off the beaten path to get to this place but it is completely worth the bbq. I had the pulled chicken and my husband had the ribs. Excellent! If you stop at Bubba's, you have to try there beef hash. It is good whethor you eat it over rice or on a sandwich. It is juicy without being soupy. Everything I have tried here is excellent, but this is by far the best thing on the menu. The service is excellent. They are friendly, helpful and quick. This place deserves 5 stars for price, product and service. I got a full rack of ribs with two gigantic sides (potato salad and macaroni pie a.k.a. macaroni salad) and a drink for $22. Be advised that I'm not the kind of guy who notates, admires or even factors in decorum when I dine out. Bubba's is a no-frills restaurant with damned good ribs. Period. The ribs were cooked with either a combination of charcoal and wood chips or straight charcoal. Whatever the case, I would assume that they slow-cooked them because I looked at the rack of ribs and they fell off the bone. They were that tender. I barely touched them and the meat slipped right off of the ribs. That's a great sign. My rack was sticky and flavorful with a hint of vinegar in the sauce. The ribs had great bark with just that little hint of charcoal in the taste. The potato salad wasn't sloppy and it wasn't reductionist; it was just right. The macaroni pie was chock full of cheese and it was gooey and rich. My friend works for the Spartanburg P.D. and he recommended Bubba's. If there's one thing I've learned in 40 years it's that you can always trust a cop, a fireman or an E.M.T. when it comes to their food recommendations. They eat out a lot so they've run the gauntlet of dine-in, takeout and delivery. Bubba's does not disappoint. If you're a Barbeque aficionado you need to go there! read more

Couldn't ask for a friendlier place, & some of THE best cooked BBQ. Pork & chicken were both tender, moist, & delicious just on their own. Mustard sauce is good, & when mixed with the red gives a very spicy sauce with just a little sweetness. I love good BBQ. I would consider Bubba's a great place for good quality food. This is real BBQ. I had the smoked brisket. The flavor was a perfect balance of the right amount of smoke. It was a little tough but nothing to be too concerned with. My side items were onion rings and hush puppies. The onion rings were sliced thin with great flavor. However, the hush puppies were a little too sweet to the taste. I believe they had too much sugar. Needless to say, they are a great BBQ restaurant and I recommend this place to anyone. read more

I love barbecue and have tried all styles and have found something to like about them all. Bubba's is alright, but to me it was too greasy and doesn't rank up there with Charlie's, Mutts or Bucky's. Besides their barbecue I also tried the Mac and cheese which I thought was greasy and the fried okra. The okra was pretty good, and actually the least greasy thing I tried. Also, Bubba's is a little pricey for the quality of the food, but the portions seemed generous enough. I probably wouldn't go back unless my barbecue jones got so bad that Bubba's barbecue was better than no barbecue. read more

This place was another no frills BBQ spot in Spartanburg. You get to order at the counter and you seat yourself. You could tell that this place is a local favorite. I got the BBQ plate with Bash's chicken. Typically in NC, the BBQ is already vinegar based so there's no need to add sauce, but here, they just smoked & seasoned it, and allowed you to add your own sauces. They had 3 to choose from. Your normal BBQ sauce, a vinegar based sauce, and the gold Carolina sauce. I never had the gold sauce before so this was my first time. I loved it. If you haven't had it, it's like a honey mustard based sauce, but the honey mustard flavor wasn't too overpowering and still allowed you to taste the smoked BBQ flavor. The vinegar based sauce was good as well. The Bash chicken was excellent. It's flavor reminded me of Chick Fil A. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone in Spartanburg looking for some quality BBQ. read more

Second time I have been there and been disappointed both times first if you have an open kitchen clean your flattop second all the the meats tasted like match lite and finally my sausage came out cold not room temperature cold they seem to have a friendly staff and the sauces were not bad but the meat made them un eatable. read more

I used to love this place. About 6 months ago the issues started. Today I had enough and decided to post this. I regularly order the soup and salad. In the drive-thru I asked the woman working the window for raw onions on my salad. Not fried. She pauses, scans the menu, and with an attitude says "onions never come on the side salad, only the full salad." I tell her I've had it SEVERAL times and every time they have been on the salad, but either way I wanted raw onions. Guess what came on my salad? Fried onions. I had to go back inside and ask for the salad without onions. I get back home, and our other order of chicken had a long black hair in it.
