We recently shopped for and purchased a new (replacement) range through BSC. Our original range had been purchased 18 years ago at Bob's Supply, the former business name of BSC. Bill Kavros gave us a thorough tour of our options when we visited the showroom, and spent plenty of time demonstrating the various features of the range we were most interested in. Before purchasing, we needed a site inspection to make certain the new appliance would fit and that the hookups would meet the range's requirements. The site visit was arranged very quickly, and Dayton & David inspected, measured and determined that all would work, with just a few adjustments which they would be able to handle at the time of installation. Once we finalized the purchase, installation was scheduled and completed in a week. Dayton, David and Thomas arrived as scheduled, in spite of continuing on & off rain, and did a masterful job making the necessary adjustments and installing the range. They also took excellent care when removing the original range, cleaning the space and delivering the replacement. They gave us basic instructions on the operation of the range, and made certain we were happy with the installation process before leaving. We had an excellent experience and would highly recommend BSC, Bill Kavros and their highly professional installation team ! read more

Helpful staff, good selection of high-end appliances, great tech support (we had an issue with a washing machine we purchased there). And perhaps most importantly, they simply do what they say they will do. Not to be underestimated during any construction/remodeling project. They removed all worry from my ordering process. I bought an almost $5,000. Liebherr fridge from these people. If there had been another place to buy it, I would have. I was told 2-3 weeks for delivery and it's been a month. After several unanswered phone calls, someone finally gave me the # for their delivery warehouse. Gave all the info. and did not receive a call back. Called them again later on the same day only to find that we were never even on their delivery schedule! They have done NOTHING since they charged the credit card ... I'm afraid of the delivery experience after reading previous reviews. All in all, it will be 6 weeks by the time we get it, all this time with no fridge. Wonder what would have happened if I had never been proactive? Will absolutely discourage people from buying there. read more

We visited this showroom as well as their sister store, Atherton Appliance in Redwood City, to shop for 4 free standing kitchen appliances. We hoped to support a local, independent business for this major purchase. The salesman we spoke with, Bill Kavros, was helpful and knowledgeable. Our major disappointment in this store was the small number of floor models available, so we would need to rely on the catalogs or look at other showrooms. Atherton Appliance did have more on display. After we decided on the items, we asked for a quote, which received promptly via email and each item was somewhat more than a quote we received from another dealer. Bill said he would try to match other prices, but the difference was considerable enough to purchase from the other dealer. We appreciated his time and knowledge and willingness to work with us, even though our total purchase was in a mid range for kitchen appliances. I recommend this company, both stores, but one might need to shop around in the superstores to look at the models, especially in the mid-range items. read more

Oh BSC, how I have both loved and hated you over the past 9 months. The Good: Pat: one of their super-qualified sales managers, is truly fantastic. He's knowledgeable, opinionated (in a good way) and is always very helpful. I visited a lot of other appliance locations, but he was by far the best salesperson I met. He maintained his professionalism throughout all of our interactions. There were hiccups along the way, but Pat always helped me get them resolved. He can sometimes be hard to reach over email, but stopping by or picking up the phone always did the trick. Product: they sell top of the line product at the lowest "legal" price. I was happy with their assortment and they had a lot of experience selling, so they (mostly Pat) knew how to guide me into the right purchase. Mind you I spent north of $18k in appliances, so I really wanted some hand holding. The Bad: Scheduler: Victoria was initially quite rude to me on several occasions. I frankly was having none of it, having just dropped almost $20k. Over time our relationship improved, but considering how much money the customers are spending here, they frankly deserve to be treated like royalty at every turn. Installers: This MUST be improved. They installed a built-in Thermador fridge and it took 4 visits to get it right. On the second visit, the men would not install it because they claimed parts were missing (parts that their brethren delivered only days earlier and were clearly in front of their face). So, they left. Then I had to wait another 2 weeks to have them return to install the paneling on my fridge. When they came the third time, they put the door on upside down and damaged the panel in the process. To the company's credit, they paid to have a new panel built and sent their guys out to install it properly the 4th time. All in all, they need to work on improving this department. It's not acceptable to sell this type of equipment and do a shoddy job on the install. The Verdict: All in all, I struggled between 3 and 4 stars with this review. If it wasn't for Pat and the fact that they made everything right in the end, they might have even landed as low as 2 stars. But, if you work with Pat and monitor the installers carefully, this is definitely a 4-star business. If, on the other hand, they cleaned up their act in the install/scheduling department, this could rise to a 5-star business. Management, you have some work to do. read more

It is hard to write a review that would express our exasperation with BSC. If you have a choice to go elsewhere, go there. If you have to go to BSC for some reason, keep your hand on your wallet and expect to be screwed. We paid for two dishwashers in May 2017, and paid for installation in June 2017. In September, BSC delivered all our appliances except the dishwashers. They didn't tell us they were going to deliver the appliances without the dishwashers. They didn't call in advance to warn us we would have a delay. They didn't tell us they weren't an authorized Miele dealer any longer. They didn't even offer to give us our money back and tell us to find dishwashers elsewhere. They just didn't do anything. No answering emails. No returning phone calls. No communication. After several weeks of yelling and threatening, they promised to refund the money (we'll see) and we went to a dealer who was competent, reliable and knowledgable. (I noticed they advertise on this page CG Appliances. Go there. Ask for Ruth.) Go anywhere else. Don't go to BSC. Or wait till they go out of business and buy appliances cheap. They have on chance to hang around treating customers like they do. read more

Iyara was great to work with and very efficient in helping me pick out my replacement dishwasher. She was pleasant, empathetic about being without a dishwasher ;( and kept in close contact throughout the whole process by email. Really top notch appliances and good service. In the past, I bought from places like Sears, and always had some headache or another to deal with. The frustration I felt dealing with BSC can hardly compare to anything! The customer service was DISMAL, it took two months to get a simple stove top installed in my house, and though I realize it is hard dealing with manufacturers and their deliveries, I felt that the sales department never had an interest in making an effort to keep me informed about what the situation was with the delivery. I spent two months without a stove and not once did I receive a call back when I left messages or tried to look for information on my order. I will never use this company again and would never recommend this to anyone else. read more

I love BSC Culinary. After my 4-month disaster with Pacific Sales (see my negative review) -- BSC was a breath of fresh air. Bill Kavros took my order in the store and set the right expectations when delivery and installation of my new Bosch oven would occur -- this was very important since this particular oven was on back order. BSC also does a thorough walk-through inspection a week or two before installation to minimize last-minute snags. As Bill predicted, the oven showed up on the appointed day, and Paul and James from the installation team were on time, professional and efficient. I'm extremely happy with my BSC experience and would recommend them. Most importantly, they are honest, trustworthy and deliver as promised (and without the BS that you may get from other vendors in SF). read more

I like the showroom and the sales people but the follow up service is pathetically bad. They use a third party installation and delivery and the communication between the two companies is dysfunctional. Expect to get a lot of conflicting information abd then they will lose your order all together. You will have to call them because they will forget about you after they have paid your bill. Their delivery service is unreliable and the only way to speak to a human is to leave a message in their system and they call you back at their convenience. Iyara was the person who helped us with our appliance purchase. She is horrible. After we agreed to order a Wolf range with a griddle insert, she ordered a grill and would not help us exchange our range. She has a poor attitude. I am remodeling my home and will not purchase any appliances from BSC because of Iyara. Shop elsewhere. read more

I bought all my appliances from Iyara at BSC because she offered me a fantastic deal on a Miele oven closeout. First, they forgot to deliver the oven when they brought the rest of the appliances. After denying this, they double checked and found they indeed still had the oven. A week later, the wrong oven is delivered - 208 watts, which cannot be used in the USA. Iyara tells me I should be happy because she convinced Miele to take the oven back, and I can pay list price for a new one, no discount. When I balk, she asks for time. Yet another 2 weeks go by and she tells me "the best possible outcome," Miele agreed to give me the same oven I ordered but new. I just need to check the dimensions. 2 more weeks go by, and they make the time to deliver the oven. They bill me for a new one and don't refund the old one. And surprise. Unlike the original order, this one has no rotisserie and no broiler pan. Iyara asks for more time. 2 weeks later, she says no you don't get a rotisserie. Other issues. The range was supposed to also have a rotisserie, according to the brochure she gave me. They claim it's a typo. The dryer must run twice to get clothes remotely dry. Iyara still hasn't addressed this or gotten someone to fix it. Go to Cherin's. They are honest and responsive. Update: they did credit the double billing, which is much appreciated. This is a hard review to write because I feel like I'm dogging the disadvantaged based on the [incapable] service I received subsequent to placing my order. I would highly recommend going to BSC to research things. The sales people are knowlegeable and undeniably eager to make the sale. Once they have charged your credit card, though, the pod people take over and I think they are forbidden from answering their phone or returning countless calls or emails, as well as providing a truthful answer to any question you may have. I'll try to be brief but it was such a comedy of errors that will be hard. To start, I met with the salesroom manager and made my selections of a Thermador Wine Fridge, BlueStar rangetop, Zephyr range hood, and two sinks. I confirmed the order in an email, referencing make & model of each item. To my surprise, when I reviewed the invoice, they order an entirely different wine-fridge that cost about $3,000 more and was never on the table as an option for me. In fact, I immediately nixed it in the showroom because I didn't like the look and couldn't figure out why it cost so much more. After a number of back-and-forth emails that started with the original email specifying my order, they finally admitted the error. Originally, they told me they got it right. Then they said it was an admin error because of the holidays. And then some other bullshit excuse. I finally told them if they want the sale, read my original email and get the order right or forget it. Funny how well that worked. During the order process, I was very concerned about delivery and repeatedly confirmed that the stuff would be delivered into our condo. I even sat in front of the salesman and confirmed with my contractor that in-unit delivery was required. When things finally arrived nearly a month late, the delivery guys, who were affable enough but seemed stoned or recently reintroduced to society at large, said it was for curbside delivery only. When I protested, they pulled out a paper, that I had never seen nor signed. When I called the shop, my salesman was on vacation (he took a lot of time off during the time I tried to get all my stuff delivered) and no one would deal with it. Eventually, I broke down and agreed to pay the guys $100 to bring the stuff into my place. I felt like they just shook me down. The fun never stopped, because when the fridge was installed, they had sent the wrong handle -- it didn't even fit on the door. It took close to two months to finally get the right handle. In addition, the 100 bottle wine fridge we order in the showroom, actually only holds about 80 bottles. When I asked about the discrepancy, I was told that no one had ever asked about that. WTF does that matter for. I guess I don't happen to be a lemming. I was informed almost a month later that unless you remove all drawers and just pile the bottles in, it will only fit about 80 bottles. I can't even recall all the other lame-brained excuses, non-responses, mistakes I dealt with but I will never buy anything from BSC again unless they change their policy and you pay upon delivery. If they do that, I'm quite sure the service would be just as amazing as it was up to the point of charging my credit card. read more

Where do I begin?! It started at the end of September on one of the hottest days we had. Our office ice maker machine stopped working. We house about 60 employees so this was a big deal to say the least! I went to BSC Culinary to speak with Emmanuel who had assisted our office in the past. When I arrived, he was at lunch so Pat Rose assisted. He didn't hesitate to help even though he knew I was there to see someone else. In the meantime, Pat showed me the appliances in the showroom and educated me on the product with the pro's and con's and also explained the ADA regulations and model. Once Emmanuel returned from lunch he handed me over to him. Aside from the friendly, helpful and professionalism I experienced in the showroom, it continued through out what turned out to be a very long saga. When I returned to the office, just ten minutes away, I already had an email from Emmanuel with a quote of the model I was looking for. This order took a lot of jumping through hoops and going through hurdles. First there was a delay for the approval and payment from my company AP department. After a few weeks of going back and forth with that, the road block did not stop there. There was then a lot of red tape and going back and forth with the building strict policy on the removal of the old appliance and installation of the new one as to who was authorized to do the work. Even down to the day of the delivery, there was another hick-up, again because of my company and building guidelines. To say the least, the purchase of our appliances turned out to be quite tedious process due to our part. Through all of this, the customer service received from start to finish from BSC Culinary and Emmanuel Caraballo was absolutely flawless! The service at this place is HORRIBLE. I bought $20,000 worth of kitchen appliances. They made a mistake and delivered the wrong refrigerator then charged me $350 in restocking and delivery fees to bring over the right refrigerator. When the new refrigerator arrived it had been opened somewhere else and was dirty and scratched. I paid for a new refrigerator but received a floor model. To think that I wrote them a check for $20,000 and this is the kind of service I received. Don't go there!!! read more

This is the worst retail experience I have ever had. Pat Rose pretended to care but, in fact, was passively rude. He almost always took days to return calls or emails and never seemed to have an answer for me. He sold me a dishwasher that did not fit, and when we needed to buy another one, required two more attempts to properly install it. The installers were also rude and messy. BSC took several months to remedy a faucet issue as well, although they charged me for it from day one. I will do all I can to recommend that you do not shop here-I never will again. read more

We recently bought three new appliances from BSC (a refrigerator, wine fridge, and dishwasher) when the refrigerator that came with our house declined to the point where we realized we no longer acted as if it had a freezer. On our initial visit to BSC, we were put off by the delivery options - much like the other reviews on Yelp, you spend 15k on appliance and then they disavow all responsibility for delivery and installation in a rather scary contract. So, we dithered. And looked around trying to find another supplier with a fridge that would fit our built-in space... And then a month or two later, went back to BSC, got helped by a different person (Iyara, who was great), and discovered that in the interim things had changed and they now _do_ their own delivery and installation. Yay! And a week later they put in our dishwasher and wine fridge (refrigerator coming later due to factory schedule) exactly on time, and in good condition. I definitely recommend trying them out even if you were scared by past reviews. read more

This place spent 20 minutes on the phone with me before I ever walked into the store and kindly answered all my questions, explained differences between products to me, and gave me tons of price quotes. Went into the store a few days later, service was again spectacular. As much as I love the incompetence that comes with a box store like Home Depot or Best Buy (god I hate both of those places), I think I'll take BSC any day. Oh, and they have a bunch of 'live' ranges so you can actually try out the burners. Definitely a plus. read more

Pretty underwhelmed with experience in purchasing Thermador appliances for remodel. Sales staff is ok, but delivery and installation was quite poor. Side by side refrigerator install was not done correctly and crew did not even understand how to properly level appliance. The anti-tip brackets where not properly installed and customer service is unresponsive. There are so many other retailers out there, so I will not be using this company again. read more

BSC does ever earn a one star rating.....The products they sell are top of the line....and they are great sales hockers ....but as soon as you purchase and pay for the product...you are given the worst service possible...try to get product specs, delivery info. follow through on any question is seldom timely or in some cases incorrect...I placed numerous calls to the Manager Pat Rose...(Because my salesman was rarely available) and have yet to ever have him return a call, leave a voice message or even communicate through his salesman.....and we spent $14,300....for their appliances....This is a Buyer Beware company... read more

Worst customer service experience ever. Dishwasher was delivered and not installed properly. The water drainage hose was intentionally cut and shortened to run over a storage shelf in my kitchen cabinet, thus blocking proper storage. Installer did not mention it to me during the installation, but when I saw it and questioned the installer, he promised to come back and fix it. He never called me back as promised. When I called BSC, they told me I should hire a plumber. What is the point of their installation? BSC told me they installed the unit and that's all they were responsible for. Customer service and ethics seem to be an issue at BSC. Shop at your own risk. read more

I ordered a Liebherr built-in Refrigerator from BSC Culinary. I have had nothing but problems with it, starting with this "panel ready" refrigerator not taking standard weight custom panels. My hinges failed and I had to have my contractor shave down the back of my panels. BSC made me pay for it ($300). They would not take any responsibility for selling me a refrigerator that couldn't really handle the weight of standard panels. I have had nothing but problems with this refrigerator, including ice build-up and a compressor failure. I real lemon. I am ready to take them to small claims court. read more

We just finished a renovation in which we completely re-did our kitchen, and bought all our new appliances (Wolf, Sub-Zero, Miele) from BSC. It has been a great experience. What first attracted us was the showroom, and the knowledgeable, helpful (and funny) "Appliance Consultant" Charmen. She really knew her stuff, listened to what we wanted, and carefully explained the trade-offs and options. We didn't feel like she was trying to hard-sell us anything. Then, I read the reviews about BSC after-sales service (I can see that some of the complaints are quite recent). I flagged this as a concern before we made the purchase, and Charmen gave us her word that she would be there for us throughout the process. She delivered (the appliances, as well as the availability). We got exactly what we ordered, it arrived on time, everything works. And this was not an easy delivery (we live on the 9th floor of 1920's era building with an original and "fascinating" elevator). And there were problems - getting our full-size fridge into our less than full-size elevator was an on-going drama - in the end, BSC hired a speciality delivery company that cost them more than they charged us - and they ate the difference since they had committed to the delivery in the first place. When the inevitable questions arose, both before and after delivery, Charmen was either easy to reach, or, if we called on one of her days off, she got right back to us when she returned. I know that the overall reviews of BSC tend toward "great until you pay, then abandon all hope", but I can only report on our personal experience, which was excellent. Based on our experience, I would heartily recommend BSC, and in particular Charmen. read more

So the place sells good appliances, at okay prices. However what sets these guys apart is their delivery. We had an incredibly difficult delivery with 30 stairs and a fridge that barely fit up the stairs. Any other company would have left and asked for us to pay for a crane to bring it in. The BSC guys (William, Andy, Dayton, Ahhing, and Nick) went way out of their way to get the job done. They offered to help fix mistakes my contractor made. They were resourceful in making things work. Offered to follow up. All round great guys and made a huge difference for me in my customer experience. We needed all new appliances for our kitchen remodel and BSC Culinary had just what we needed and then some. The showroom is beautiful and filled with every appliance imaginable. Our sales person, Charmen Weidenbach, was the best. She was knowledgeable, patient, and very accommodating. She explained all our options, made suggestions and above all, listened to what we wanted. At the last minute we had to make a major change in the washer/dryer (what we'd ordered wouldn't fit) and Charmen made it happen (with no additional expense to us)! BSC's prices also seem to be the best around. So all and all five stars seems not enough to rate BSC Culinary. read more

BSC Culinary is an amazing resource! I did a complete kitchen remodel over a year ago, and I can still count on Iyara for information and help. In fact, she saved me a few thousand dollars in construction costs by pointing out several BIG mistakes that the contractor would have made, just by looking at my blueprints. In addition, their showroom and samples helped inform my purchase decisions. Sure, I'd checked out Home Depot Expo (now permanently closed...what does that tell you?) and they might have been cheaper initially, but for my money (and peace of mind), I'd go to BSC! read more

Let me tell you what a long term nightmare I have had dealing with Pat at BSC. I purchased and paid for appliances in leiu of a remodel 14 months ago. I purchased brands that were highend and made in America, Wolf and Subzero. I tried to remodel using only American made products and I was able to accomplish this about 95%. During the remodel before any appliances were delivered, we changed the refrigerator configuration to be a side by side Subzero. Two units into a builtin cabinet. When we receive the refrigerators 5 months ago, one was 82"s high the other 84"s high. The 84" high unit was a floor model we had inspected and purchased with the guarantee it would be clean and a perfect match for the new side by side unit. This is when the problems started. To match the 82" unit , the door panel on the 84"unit needed to be exchanged for a shorter door panel, than the 2 units would match. To date this has not been done. Also , the surface discoloration to the aluminum draw panels that we pointed out to Pat at the time were never cleaned thus the refrigerators side by side look like two different colors . I have made numerous calls to BSC with them not returning one call. Pat never returned my messages. In my frustration I call Subzero in Wisconsin, explaining my situation. I have been promised action regarding my problem, but as I stated, to date 14 months after they received full payment, I have the same doors that were delivered 5 months ago. I made one final attempt to contact Pat last Thursday. I got the off for 3 days recording. I then tried to contact anyone in the store at 3:30pm and never got through to anyone other than a recording. If you want appliances look elsewhere. I spent 10's of thousands of dollars at this store and if they wont return my calls, good luck buying a dish wash that has problems. Forget any stars!! read more

We remodeled our house in Sausalito two years ago, and purchased all new kitchen appliances from BSC. I worked with Iyara Giminski, who is extremely knowledgable about all of the various appliances, and the fact that she is a chef (and a very good one), she was able to give me a lot of good suggestions with respect to determining the best appliances for my needs. Prior to deciding on BSC, I shopped around, including two large Marin appliance dealers, and found BSC much more informative on all the various manufacturers and options than any of the others. I also attended one of BSC's in-house demonstrations on the Wolf range, as I was trying to decide between a griddle or infrared grill, and the demonstration helped me make my decision. I found Iyara's follow up with respect to timing of deliveries, coordinating with our contractor, etc. to be excellent. We purchased a Viking convection oven, Viking warming drawer, Wolf Gas Range, SubZero and Meile dishwasher, and we're thrilled with all of our selections. Likewise, as far as customer service is concerned, whenever I've had questions about any of the appliances, Iyara has always been extremely responsive and helpful. read more
