I was nervous…read moreabout going to a new dentist, and especially my first experience with a dentist outside the U.S. Well, no need, because Scandinavian was wonderful! I'm used to the American dentist experience where you wait in a waiting room for a long time reading six-month-old Redbook magazines, then you wait in the dentist chair for a long time, then the hygienist does some stuff to you, then you wait some more, and then finally, the dentist comes in for a couple of minutes. My experience at Scandinavian was so much better than anything I experienced back home! I showed up about 5 minutes before my appointment. I know they were fully booked for the day, because I had asked about the possibility of moving my appointment and wasn't able to. Yet there was nobody else in the waiting room, meaning they were very efficient. I had already filled out their short patient form online, so they showed me in right away. Dr. Pedersen was in the room preparing even before I even got into the chair! He did the whole cleaning and examination himself with assistance from the hygienist. I was in AND out within 30 minutes, and my teeth looked great. Dr. Pedersen, the receptionist, and the hygienist were all very nice and professional. The cleaning cost 85 EUR, which seemed reasonable to me, though I didn't comparison shop. I didn't have any procedures done other than the cleaning, so I can't comment on that. However, I will definitely be back, and I can't recommend them highly enough based on my experience!

I called about 15 dentists and clinics, but everyone was either on holiday or fully booked. No one wanted to take a new patient on the 26 of December. And since there was no pain, the emergency cabinet wasn't an option. Dr. Verheyden is not just very professional and friendly, but he was also the only one who agreed to help tourists(us) during the Christmas holidays (and I assume he spent the personal time to do it). He saved our vacation, no doubt!

Because she couldn't understand how my symptoms were connected, she instead chose to only concentrate on one of them, telling me I must be imagining the other one (sudden and severe acne!) Also, there is nothing free about this clinic, I went in on a Saturday and was charged nearly 40 Euro (an extra cost that wasn't mentioned beforehand) only to be given a prescription for something that is available to buy anywhere, which I have tried before and hasn't worked. You'd be better off going to another clinic with an experienced doctor who will actually listen to your symptoms, won't try to gaslight you and tell you it's in your head if they don't understand what's wrong with you (although perhaps if you're a man you'll have more chance of getting her to listen to you) and will probably charge you less.
