I'm from San Francisco and now I can make excuses to visit Palm Springs more frequently just to get a haircut from James. Yes, he's the man with the magic touch. Great great cut. Great great atmosphere. Great all around experience having my first haircut at Brush. Thank you, James! I will return! read more

My fiance got the best cut of his life here, I am thrilled! He loved the deluxe service and pampering. Thank you!

I found Barry through a mutual friend. He took my ok hair color to WOW! I drive 40 miles to see him and always feel pampered, with perfect color and style. I have very thick, curly hair and this is the only stylist who can blow my hair straight and in a different hair style every time. His experience and vision really makes him a must see stylist. Besides, he is just an awesome person as well. read more

Barry is an exceptional person, stylist, and business owner. A true master of his craft, the attention afforded you is second to none. I walked away feeling better for wear and excited to explore my day with a sharp new cut. The next day I was surprised at the ease in which I was able to style my hair. Barry said that he cut my hair in a style that matched the natural flow of my hair and he meant it! Not only did I get a great cut, I feel better for knowing Mr.Nadeau, and that is an experience you don't get every day. read more

Where to start.... Barry Nadeau has created a gem in the desert! I had my first appointment this morning and it was spectacular. He greeted me with warmth and a glass of French lemonade. The lemonade was amazing!! Barry from the get go wanted me to feel in control of how I wanted my hair styled which was a breath of fresh air. We had intellectual conversations during the whole time I was there which was nice. I thought to myself the whole time I was there why hasn't everyone decided to go to Barry? He's like the best kept secret in the desert. All in all I left with the best cut I've ever had. I have found a new home for myself. I highly advise if your looking for someone to help guide you with your hair go to Barry. With that said. See you soon Barry read more

I read about Barry and his establishment--Brush-- in Palm Springs Life. I anticipated it would be a fun "one-time Palm Springsy' experience to get my hair cut there while on vacation. And I also expected I'd get a decent cut. It was a great experience--Barry is charming. The shop--and Barry-- not at all pretentious. And the cut he gave me exceeded my expectations. I absolutely love it. As soon as I got home, I booked another appointment for next time I am in town. While the price for a cut is more than I pay at home in Chicago, it's really not that high, considering he does not accept tips. And I really feel it was worth every penny. read more

This very talented stylist and colorist sent me an email confirmation that my full highlight would be $130. Upon leaving my appointment, Barry ran my card but did not give me a receipt. When I got home that evening I was surprised to see a $400 charge. Barry did not inform me that his pricing had changed, plus his website still reflected $130 (has since changed). After leaving numerous messages he did not return my calls nor make any gesture to resolve the issue. I did not authorize $400 so feel extremely misled and will never go back. I've been to Sally Hershberger, Jose Eber etc. and have never experienced such lack of integrity. Terrible customer service. read more

I worked with Barry in New York for 5 years. He is a ray of inspiring light. His work graced the top fashion magazines and he styled many celebrities along the way. His talent is unsurpassable and inturn he is in high demand. I had my hair styled at his studio this past March and it was truly amazing! Really made me miss his expertise here in NY. The studio is warm and inviting and you feel righ at home with Barry. Once you meet him and have him do your hair there is no turning back. read more

Not only is Barry a great stylist, he is a life-saver! On the day of my wedding, my clippers broke, and I messed up my beard, but I found Brush, and Barry saved the day! He fixed everything so that I wouldn't look silly on my big day. Thanks, Barry! read more

It disappoints me to have to write a negative review as I love this unique, personalized salon, and Barry is a lovely person. I looked forward to both experiences, but unfortunately each time left a bad taste in my mouth (I went a second time to give him the benefit of the doubt). Marlene C. is spot on with her review. I booked an appointment online for an $80 hair cut for my first visit. I paid with my debit card. After leaving I checked my bank account and my debit card was charged $140, not the price I had booked for my appointment ($80). I figured it was a mistake, and since I liked Barry and his shop, I just shrugged it off. About six months later I booked another haircut, this time, he had raised the price to $95 for a ladies haircut. I again book online, a $95 haircut. Barry finishes cutting my hair and I specifically say I do not want a blow dry as I was thinking that maybe that's why he ended up charging me more last time (even though I didn't book a blow dry, I booked a haircut only). He didn't listen and insisted on blow drying. Once again, I pay by debit card (big mistake). I leave and check my bank account - this time he charged my card double what I had booked for a $95 haircut (it was close to $200 charged to my debit card). This is NOT acceptable and I will never be back. Maybe his clientele can afford being double charged, but I can't and have honestly gotten better haircuts for $15. I really just went for the lovely atmosphere. Total bummer :( read more

I'm picky when it comes to barbers...let's just say I really care about who touches my hair. I have been going to the same barber for the last 6 years and before I met Barry I thought I was getting top notch service...then I met Barry. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to haircuts. Being Asian I try to keep it clean and neat. You know the drill...#2 fade and trim the top. My wife introduced me to Barry after getting her hair done and the rest is history. I went to his studio not knowing what to expect. I really just wanted something new as I've had the same haircut for a while. When I sat down Barry asked me "So...what do you want to do?" My response was..."Go crazy." So my expectation was that he was going to give me what I was accustomed to. So about 40mins later and having not used any shears. He turns the chair around and says to me "What do you think??" I looked in the mirror and thought to myself why didn't I come here earlier. He did an amazing job. I have course hair and when it comes to styling I really don't have many options. Barry transformed my hair into something unbelievable. I looked different but more importantly I felt great and I loved the new cut. You know it when you go to work the next day and everyone (even the guys) are asking if you got a haircut. The studio is in his home and he built a lot of it. It's cozy and you'll feel like you're going over to a friends place to hang out. Barry is a true stylist so if you're looking for a new do or a complete make over I HIGHLY recommend his services. His clients range from movies stars to former Miss America's so trust me when I say he knows what he's doing. Yeah it costs more than your average barbershop but there's a reason for that. It's cause your average barbershop can't do what Barry does. Final Verdict: If you're in need of a new do go see this man! Seriously! read more

I almost don't want to write a review because I want to keep Barry a secret! He is the absolute, hands-down, best hair stylist in town. I have never enjoyed getting my hair cut, I always viewed it as something I "had to do". This has all changed since I started seeing Barry. Not only is he amazingly charming, and a complete professional, but the concept of the single chair salon puts me at ease. Barry is fantastic! From the moment you make the appointment it is clear that Brush is a salon like no other. Barry provides personalized and exceptional service. This one chair salon caters to every need. Barry's priority is to make everyone feel special. He is an exceptional stylist, colorist, and host. From the customized beverages, bar, coffees, hot cocoas, to the massage and hair care...you are pampered in every way! My only caveat is the cost. It is very expensive to be pampered at this level.... Ask in advance of the service to avoid sticker shock. read more

I had grown my hair out for months and months for my wedding, and by the time the wedding and honeymoon were over I was so ready for something besides long brown hair. Barry then gave me the best cut and color of my life, and I got a fabulous honey blond bob. Without Barry, and his wonderful ability to visualize the right cut and color, I probably never would have discovered the look. Barry's color technique is great too, because it went on in such a way that I couldn't see a distinct root line, even as my hair got a bit longer. read more

hard to believe that with all his credentials and rave reviews that he gave me the 2nd worst- and most over-priced- cut I've had in palm springs. i'm in a wheelchair with limited hand use so I needed a cut that was flattering and easy to wash and go. unfortunately I got neither. read more

I was unhappy with my current highlights and hairstyle but didn't know why or what I wanted, just that I was tired of the same look every day. I also needed something that was both professional and could be styled out of my face for ice skating. A friend mentioned Barry, so I tried him out. First he listened to me, really listened to find out what I was looking for, how I do my hair, what I need it to work for. He took into consideration my ice skating and work and that I wanted long hair. Being short with super fine hair I had been convinced that longer hair was not an option, boy was I wrong! Barry has totally transformed my look, not only by getting me to longer hair, but also with a fabulous new hair color that actually improves my complexion. Now I love my hair, get tons of compliments, and have many ways to style it. Barry is an AMAZING stylist who really listens and finds a way to help you look fabulous that also fits your lifestyle. Now I just have to fly down to Rancho Santo Margarita regularly, because I don't want anyone else touching my hair. read more

Beware the pricing? If you look at Barry's pricing list everything seems straight forward. Ok I want a men's haircut, that will be $65. But that isn't what happens. After having visited Barry, and my spouse, did the same, for almost a year, we would always come home wondering why the charges always changed and usually were much higher than the listed prices. IE the $65 hair cut was billed as $125, or $150 etc. Always a different amount. Barry is a great stylist. The salon is very comfortable and he takes care of you and makes you feel special. But regardless of your economic abilities, you leave not knowing what you've paid. He does not disclose the cost of your services when you leave. You find out afterwards with your statements or looking up your charges on your bank/card info. I tried discussing the pricing with him, asking if the spritz of this or that was being billing extra. I never got a straight answer. At one point I decided to stop coloring my hair and he said "next time you come in it will only be $65 for just a cut", but I never experienced a reduction in cost and again never close to the listed prices. We asked why the price list was not updated and his response was "I don't have any control over that, someone else takes care of that? Interesting since updates to his services and changes in his promoting himself seem to make it to the website promptly. No problem if he wants to charge whatever amount. If he says I charge $600 for a haircut, no problem, as long as you know up front. He told me a lot of his clients don't even look at their charges. Well they should. Being taken advantage of isn't acceptable for anyone. There are some more serious words regarding this practice that could be used but I will keep it general. If you are a person that feels honest pricing should be a basic expectation Brush is probably not a place for you. read more

Brush is a great shop. It is a little masculine and a little feminine. The music is soft jazz. Bourbon and other beverages are available. Barry is everything all the other reviews say about him. He is a sincerely happy and charming person. You can't help but leave feeling positive about everything and anything. He listens to your requests and makes his suggestions and is never the pushy stylist. I told him what I wanted and then allowed him to do what he wanted. I left with a new style and a smile of pure contentment. Barry's hair skills are top notch, but his happiness and contentment are so refreshing, I could have left bald and I would still be back. The haircut is great. Barry is a superlative person. I will be back to Brush......and this is saying a lot as I have a luxury barber shop. So, Brush is where this haircutter goes to be pampered. read more

Barry Nadeau is an excellent hair stylist. As a former Manhattanite, I can assure you that his skills are on par with the best New York has to offer. He cut my (curly) hair dry, which surprised me.
