Dr. Ira Steinmetz is a Rare Gem in Doctors. My husband and…read moreI shuffled through doctors in Brooklyn to find him. Dr. Steinmetz is just a caring, understanding, well-mannered, humble, and gracious person. I have to say person, because he has to be such a person first to be a doctor with those qualities. Not to be ignored is his staff. His staff is just as courteous and understanding. I read reviews putting them down - but I beg to say, the person writing such a review, doesn't quite have an understanding of what to expect from an office staff in such a delicate yet fast-moving environment, attending to phones, patients, and any requests of the doctor... May Jehovah God bless Dr. Steinmetz and his staff, giving all of them good health and long life so they may take care of us who need them.

Called the office a number of times and never received a return call. Went to the office hoping to see the doctor and was told he was leaving and couldn't see me and I would get an antibiotic. Asked why there never was a return call and he said he was having issues with the phone. Tried the office again the following day and when I walked in the male receptionist told me did I think I was entitled walking in and since I haven't been there in 2 years what did I expect. Needless to say I walked out after being insulted and reprimanded and found another doctor and I was diagnosed with bronchitis. Dr Buono is a wonderful doctor but it's impossible to get past his rude male receptionist. Needless to say, due to the incredibly insolence of the male receptionist there are 3 less patients for that office. He needs to have a course in patient etiquette and proper and polite discourse.

My PCP wrote a referral for pain management and this was the first practice that didn't treat me as a drug-seeking addict. Not only did they treat pain stemming from this cause, but also from a hereditary bad lower spine. There were tests, which also discovered tumors in my thyroid. Without this, I would never have gotten them biopsies. So far so good. They tried epidurals and nerve blocks, which did not work for me, and I wound up with prescription pain management. No more ER visits. I was able to sleep lying down for all but the rare, intense, breakthrough pain. But even the duration of this was shortened. Sadly, I moved out of the area and had to seek pain management in another state, where pain patients were looked upon as suspect. It took months to find anyone who would treat me, and would up going cold turkey off the medication I had brought in my move. After several months they decided they didn't want to treat pain patients anymore. They gave me a 1 month supply and told me (and others), to hit the road.
