I had the turkey wrap which is turkey with pickles onions and coleslaw with sauce. I went light on the sauce and it was perfect. A very messy wrap but such deliciousness. You will not be disappointed. The turkey was flavorful, moist and perfect. read more

Drove by this place and circled back to it when seeing the lines and amount of people at some other big name bbq places. The brisket is moist and flavorful. It is not lean brisket. Turkey is also moist good flavor and not too salty like other bbq places so I appreciate that. Real big slices of turkey too! Pulled pork - was great ! The burnt end type pieces included so it made it extra. Paired with the mustard based bbq sauce is amazing. The other bbq sauce was a sweet sauce. Potato bread is soft and nice to include. Mac n cheese ... well I'm not sure , my husband ate it all before I could even try it. Which means it good because he literally licked his bowl. Ahhhh if you're looking for some bangin BBQ without having to wait 10 years in line and isn't packed with folks, then this is the spot. This is one of those sleeper BBQ gems I found looking for some grub with my brother for his birthday. The brisket hits, the pork ribs hit, and the sausage hits (these are what we tried). Besides the BBQ, the other big selling point is that the people running the truck are awesome! Made us feel like regulars even though it was our first time lol. Didn't get their names though...but I'll make sure to ask on the next trip. Side note, there's a bit of seating outside but the bar it's in front of (Corner Bar) also lets you sit inside to eat if you want. All in all, VERY worth it to check out Brown's BBQ! If I could rate this place 6 stars, I would. The beef brisket is absolutely incredible - and I've had awesome brisket at other places around Austin. Brown's brisket almost melts in your mouth from its tender, moist texture. The BBQ sauce is outstanding. The sides were really good; the beans and cabbage are what I had, along with slices of bread. You also get pickles, onions and jalapeños. I visited Brown's on a busy Thursday afternoon around 2:00 during the SXSW festival but the line moved very quickly. Yummy stuff!! had the three meat and 2 side plate and it was pretty hooked up!! ran me about 17 bucks w/ a mex coke but was enough for two meals easy! I love the brisket and the chicken best and also the beans w/ bacon were mint!! my pork rib was a lot of fatty for my liking but still had a nice flavor but the consistency of the meat turned me a bit off. The Mac and cheese was just a little plain and felt like it could have used even just a little salt & pepper or something. I have been driving past Brown's since I moved here. I typically have LA BBQ, Franklins and Original Black's. I don't recall who, but someone said, that I must try Brown's so yesterday I went by it was FREEZING outside and ordered their brisket (fatty) and some of their chicken. It was the BEST chicken I have had and their brisket is without question in the top 3 for me here in Austin. Seating is limited so I suggest getting it to go, it travels well as they wrap it in foil to keep the moisture in. I cannot comment on their sides, but a great place for amazing BBQ without super long lines. read more

Wow. This was my second BBQ spot in Austin, and my first was Franklin's. From the first bite, I realized this BBQ truck gives Franklin's a run for its money without the wait. It's located on the frontside of a bar, and I got there at 7:45pm on a Thursday and there was no line. I ordered 2 meat plate with beef ribs, links, Mac cheese, and cabbage, plus 0.5 lbs brisket. Portions are huge, my order could have fed me and my girlfriend. Brisket was properly tender and juicy, with the right amount of pepper. Links are spicy, and most important, they have a snap. Beef ribs (came with 3) are short and stubby, but meaty. They were slightly over smoked, and my least favorite but it's a bargain so no complaints. I LOVED my sides. The Mac cheese had a watery cheese sauce but I liked it! I cabbage side is sweet with bacon, and was a refreshing change to my preference of salty collared greens. To conclude, just try it. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why Brown's hasn't ever made Texas Monthly's canonical Top 50 list. Don't let the humble trailer on South Lamar fool you. This is serious next-level cue, no muss, no fuss. And if there's a line, it's way less than at any Starbucks in the morning. I got there at 1:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and ordered a half-pound each of brisket and sausage. When the lady pulled out the brisket to carve, it had that perfect Jello shake, beautiful bark and scintillating smoke ring. It was moist and delicious, perfectly seasoned with a divine hint, not overpowering, of smoky perfection. Nothing interfered with its beefy essence. And, impossible as it seems, the sausage was even better! I think it's pure beef, a relatively fine grind, with a peppery finish, spicy but not hot. The sides were also special: smooth, creamy bacon mac and cheese and braised cabbage with bacon with both a sweetness, like caramelized onion and a peppery note. And the people couldn't be nicer. The sausage and the brisket here is next level! Make sure you get some pickles and jalepeños on the side too! We just stumbled across this place and are so happy we did. I have been driving by for weeks and heard some good things so I figured let's give it a try. $10.50 for a two meat/two side plate. I had the brisket and pork rib with the potato salad and cabbage. Brisket - Wow! This was so good! I had a couple of pieces of both lean and moist and both were equally delicious! The salt content, smoke, and slight bark absolutely spoke my love language. Ribs - very moist and tender. These had a sweet note that was a little sweet for me...but that is really just splitting hairs. Overall, very good. Sides - the cabbage was the real deal with bacon. It tasted fresh and was a nice and different option. The potato salad looked so yummy....but I did find it a little bland and made with sweet relish which was disappointing for me. Overall, the brisket more than made up for anything else that didn't suit my tastes. Browns, please keep doing what you are doing while maintaining your pirce level and you will see me a lot. read more

The beans here were very peppery and had a little bite which I liked and the mac and cheese was nice and gooey and not the watered down kraft version you get elsewhere. Ok, so how was the BBQ? With such easy access to good BBQ in Austin, i can't say that this BBQ stands out from the crowd, but again, it's an overwhelming field. We had the brisket and sausage. The sausage was definitely above average. The brisket tasted about average, but that's comparing to top tier BBQ joints only, so I'm not sure that's even a knock. Tried the pulled pork sandwich and the two meat plate with brisket and beef ribs + sides of cabbage and potato salad. Was not impressed with any. The pulled pork did not have enough flavor in my opinion, the brisket was 20% fat--too much for my taste. The beef ribs was also not very flavorful and was a bit of a rip off (only one rib, mostly bone) and very tough. The cabbage gets good reviews on yelp, but is very plain compared to Asian cabbage recipes. I did like the potato salad, but thought the mustard could have been more potent. Good service though. Tip: if you open the two meat plate package the wrong way, you'll miss the pickles, jalapeño, and onions. White bread free with plates. read more

I salivate when I think of Brown's BBQ. It's a food truck, but it sits in the lot of Corner Bar, so you can order a platter and eat it at Corner's! On Sundays, you can even get a free plate with a $10 bar tab after 3pm. The brisket is definitely the showstopper. It's amazing. Just get it. Come early on weekends because they do run out. As for the sides, I (sadly) don't like their mac n cheese, but their coleslaw is banging and the cabbage is great too.
