They're a bit different from the New York style--these are lighter, which is nice if you're planning to do a lot of walking around town (or dancing at de Effenaar). Good prices, too!

A lovely waitress took my order, making up a wonderful cortado while my bagel was being prepared. Sesame seeds and cream cheese. Five stars for Bagel & Beans. [Review 21275 overall - 80 in Netherlands - 240 of 2024.]

It's an impressive spread, but the standouts were the house-made focaccia and the vibrant, fresh pesto--you could really taste the quality. The combination of savory prosciutto, mortadella, and mozzarella with scrambled eggs was delicious, and finishing with a cannoli was a treat. Bob opted for the Banana Bread, which was clearly fresh-baked and came loaded with yogurt, granola, and fruit. He loved it. The space itself is intimate and high-energy, but it never felt cramped; instead, it had a cheerful, cozy vibe that made us want to linger. Service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. A definite recommendation for anyone looking for a high-quality morning meal!

I've been very happy with the glut of recent Bredase coffee house openings in the past few months…read moreand I've been trying to cover as many as possible in the weekends. When I tried Batista Cafe earlier on today I was quite excited. It has a different look and feel to the interior, outdoor seating right on the Grote Markt, and what looked to be plenty of staff. The real issue here is two fold: Plenty of staff appears to translate into plenty of chaos rather than plenty of service. We waited nearly 10 minutes to have our order taken then another 12 for the coffees to arrive. Secondly, the coffee is terrible. It doesn't seem to be the preparation of the drinks themselves, more that the coffee is burned in the roast, to the point of being nearly undrinkably bitter. I never take sugar in my coffee but the only way to be able to get mine down was to dump a whole stick of it in. They get some points for decor and the nice little shortbreads they include with the drinks, but if you're on the lookout for somewhere to drunk an unsweetened coffee I'd look elsewhere.

The staff inside know what they're doing. It will be worth the wait! Here's what I've tried so far, and what I recommend depending on how hungry you are and what you're in the mood for. Everything mentioned below comes with FREE sauces and veggies. If you don't like something (such as sambal or a specific type of veggie), do let them know. You can also ask for extra meat (I think it is €2?). 1. Mexicano (€3): This is perfect if I'm feeling snacky. It comes with a rectangular minced chicken patty, wrapped inside a very fluffy and buttery bread. 2. Börek Döner (€3): This is also the perfect portion for a snack. You can pick between beef or chicken. 3. Dürüm Döner (€6,50 - €7): This is perfect for a meal. It is a wrap. You can get it with beef, chicken, or combo. 4. Döner Box (€6,50 - €7): This is also perfect for a meal. Your food comes in a to-go container, with meat (beef, chicken, or combo) on top and fries on the bottom. This is the one I get the most often, because I am usually always craving fries. 5. Pain Frites (€8): I cannot finish one of these on my own. This is basically the exact same thing as a Döner Box, except everything is placed on top of a giant bread roll. It's super messy to eat, but absolutely worth it. 6. Kapsalon (€8 - €9,50): I also cannot finish one of these on my own. It reminds me of a Döner Box, but with an added layer of cheese on top. Other things I've tried here: 7. Side of Fries (€2,50 - €3,95): Very addictive fries! I don't usually order the fries on their own, because if I'm in the mood for fries, I'll simply get either a Döner Box, Pain Frites, or Kapsalon. 8. Hotwings (€5 - €9): Very tasty! It comes with a slightly sweet sauce that pairs perfectly with the spicy wings.

Great location, beautiful decor, menu... not for me…read more I think I am going to start using a new word for this experience "Insta-trap". Insta-trap, similar to a tourist trap, is when the food ends up taking a major backseat in the experience to a good location, or in this case, excellent decor and plating. In my opinion, CoffeeLab felt an awful lot like an Insta-trap. The decor, the plating - beautifully curated. The menu... not so much. Word of advice: if you are here for the instagrammable vines hanging from the ceiling and the trendy wooden boards and jam jar coffees, stick to desserts and coffee. The "lunch" menu felt tired and lackluster. If I rattled off a few adventurous-sounding ingredients that could be made into sandwiches that took minimal effort that would be these sandwiches. One bite into my spicy chicken and jalapeno sandwich and it was clear it did not take much effort to make this. Simple ingredients, hardly any flavour, no garnish. I think the most egregious part of this experience was that they had not even bothered to wipe off the knife from cutting my friend's goat cheese sandwich before mine so residue from her sandwich was all over mine. And the coffee! Maybe this is just not for me but the Espresso Tonic was definitely not something I would enjoy in the summer. I'm pretty open-minded with coffee. I'll try the trendy Robusta-only espressos in Shoreditch or the Nitro brews in San Francisco, but this drink was so far from sweet or summery (as advertised). It was... mineral and severely bitter. Overall it was a little disappointing. Coffeelab was the first on my list of things to do on my first trip to Eindhoven. Maybe it was just me expecting a little more, but if you came here for the Insta, then by all means you will not be disappointed. But if you wanted lunch, maybe try somewhere else. And if you wanted coffee, by all means - avoid that 4 euro espresso tonic.
