It's a small cozy place with limited seating. When you enter the place, you will see a glass counter with a wide range of unlabeled and unpriced dishes that can be confusing for the uninitiated. There are also dishes that can be made to order including the 'Silog' breakfast. Tried their Dinuguan dish and Halo-Halo. The dinuguan is on the salty side and the Halo-Halo is lacking in ingredients. At the back of this place they have a small 'Sari-Sari' store which is basically a convenience store selling Filipino groceries and merchandise such as t-shirts emblazoned with a Tagalog word slogan. And since this is located in downtown, prices are on the expensive side compared to their suburbs counterparts. But if you're really in need of Filipino ingredients or just craving Filipino food, I guess this is the place to be. Just don't expect to find everything here and be prepared to pay premium pricing.

To make a reservation at BBs was not an easy process so I tried to call multiple times as well as connect on social media. Never received a response. I've seen this dynamic in other restaurants and when I go into the actual restaurants to get a question answered say in the mid afternoon when its not busy there are often multiple staff standing around not doing very much but never answering the phone. I'm unclear whether they just have a policy to only talk to customers in person and have a social media presence so they never respond directly to customer inquiries even when the staff are not busy? I understand the switch to social media to save time and energy for staff on reservations and dealing with deliveries, but to try to call on different days and different times over a period of about a week when I needed to change my reservation for a larger group and receiving no reply when they hold $20 per person on the credit card can be an unnecessary time-consuming hassle for the customer. BBs does not seem at risk of running out of customers but for other restaurants who are similar in terms of not being easy to contact then complain about the business side of running a restaurant and potentially not being as profitable as they would like to be - they might want to consider it from the customer point of view and how it might be easier to just cancel an entire reservation than play guessing games with the restaurant staff about reservation details that hold credit cards - especially with larger parties. This is exactly what happened here until I was finally in the area and decided to just walk in for a table with a couple of friends. But glad to have made it - restaurant was beautiful, the colors are soothing, and the staff are attentive in the restaurant. Also appreciated the modern take on authentic flavors and would love to make it back to try the rest of the menu.

Filipino street food definitely stands out among the crowd of stalls. John was manning the stall by himself, and he was friendly and super patient with educating me about the various choices. All sounded amazing, we decided on the Batchoy (Filipino ramen), Turon (banana spring roll) and Calamansi iced tea. All were very reasonable prices. Now having Ramen as street food is not really easy to master, but I say it's worth it. There are benches nearby, making it possible. If you plan to take it home, it's double secured with some saran wrap over the edges of the bowl lid. I enjoyed this dish the most, a very comforting, homey feel with nice chicken broth and just the right balance of pork belly sprinkled in the bowl. The Calamansi iced tea didn't taste too different from regular to me. I'm not really an iced tea fan normally, and this didn't change my mind, but it did its trick to quench my thirst. I appreciate that it's a cool drink without ice. I hate it when other places pack their drinks with so much ice, diluting the drink. The Turon is unique and definitely worth a try. Oddly, I liked it better when we brought the leftover home when it was cold. The syrup that was drizzled on top of the banana spring roll hardened, leaving a crispy outer shell even hours after. From the things I've tried so far, it very thoughtfully put together. Looking forward to revisiting!

It is free to enter the night market. Ube is a purple yam, a type of sweet potato, scientifically called dioscorea alata. It's deep purple colour is due to the presence of anthocyanins. There were so many food vendors. There was Filipino artist Leeroy New, DJ Nina Salvo, Band BotterxBroke, and a magician. We ordered the following: 1. From Tito Parley's: Salvanas ($7.00), a macaron x ice cream sandwich, Ube Coco flavour. 2. From Hazel's Best: Ube Gulaman Samalamig ($6.00), a cold drink. 3. From Islas: UBE Smash Burger (double, $15.00). The food and drink we got were so delicious! There are picnic tables to sit on. After 18:00, it got crowded, so it may be hard to find a spot to sit down. We also met a friend, Rechie Valdez, federal Minister of Small Business. She herself is Canada's first Filipino federal minister. There is no free WiFi. The festival is wheelchair accessible. There are two paid parking lots. Review 2023-304

I loved the ube pork adobo cheese bun, very unique and delicious. Some items are really pricy for what you get, but that's usually the case at the night markets.
