You select your pastries upfront and order from your table. Very reasonable for the quality of these fine bakery items. Coffee is reasonable here and quite overpriced in the local area. With two drip coffees and two pastries i paid 15.80 Euros. Expensive for here but definitely a worthwhile experience. It's a place to socialize, not just have coffee and cake. Coffee and cake is an afternoon break ritual in Germany.

With the service it really depends who is serving. Some waiters are really nice and fast, others not really, so you can sometimes also wait quite a while to order. Usually we go for the schnitzel, but also all the other dishes we have tried have been good, especially the weekly specials are quite recommendable. One negative point is that they raised the prices this year and it really moved the place to a higer price range even though I cannot say that the environment or the food improved, so the raise would be justified.

There isn't much space to sit inside but there is enough outside. The bread, coffee, cakes and pizza are amazing here and what makes it even better is knowing the background and the history of this bakery. We were lucky enough to learn about it during the open bakery tour, which takes place once a year. We learned that they get their grains locally for years from the same organic farmer. They have two mills grinding their own flour. And a system that transfers the flour into the bakery, where it is still prepared and kned the old traditional way. All with a lot of love and passion. The bakery is owned by six partners at the moment and creates this unique love for their profession that is reflected in the quality of their products. I am so impressed by this entire concept that from today on I am committed to buy my bread only here and no longer at the grocery store. If you haven't been here yet, do take the trip and try their bread/pastries and ask tge staff any questions you have, they are always helpful and friendly. One Friday morning, I took a stroll to get breakfast. As soon as you step in, you feel welcomed - the bakery is warm and cozy. One of the staff behind the countered said hello; when I asked if he spoke English, he explained a little bit about the bakery and handed me a menu describing the bread and pastries. The place is most famous for their whole wheat breads, though they have breads made with spelt and rye which sound like they are gluten free. There is a chalkboard on the wall which describes which days of the week certain types of loaves of bread are made -- how organized and cool is that! I had the obst-quark pastry (pinwheel type pastry with cherry inside) and süsse münder (a small cashew type of pastry) plus coffee. The only downside to the cafe is that there is not much seating, though I was able to share a spot with one of the regulars in the seating room/ shop area. A nice bakery oasis in this heavily residential area - I highly recommend you check it out if you love pastries and bread.
