Ive been coming to this place for years for all my alterations and tailoring. I have always been a strange in-between sizing and buying clothing was always difficult. Since I found them, I dont hesitate to buy clothing now because I know that they can size it to my body. All of my formal dresses, jeans and even Halloween costumes get compliments because it all looks like it was made just for me. They are always so knowledgable and kind! Recently I referred my husband for some new suits and he had some custom shirts made instead. He got so many compliments on his shirt at his work function. He must have given the name of his tailor to at least 50 people that night! And he's the one that got to design it! I really feel like they are the best in the business. I didn't see many reviews from females on here so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. If as they say "clothing makes the man" then this place gets my vote for clothing makes the WOMAN too. Let's face it people in many instances judge you by what you wear and your clothing can be a reflection of your personality to the world. I have been coming to this establishment for the tailoring needs for myself and my family for over a decade and I could not be happier with the quality and service. From hemming mens dress pants, or repairing and altering a teenagers jeans to altering my own blouses, pants and especially dresses for an absolute perfect fit, this is the place to go! The quality is amazing, always completed on time and only slightly more in price than elsewhere, I have trouble purchasing off the rack, I'm petite and curvy. It took me a bit into adulthood to understand the value and impact of having clothes tailored to fit my body. (Thank you Clinton and Stacey from TLC's "What Not To Wear" for your constant messages to reinforce it's the clothing that's wrong and not my body's proportions!) If you don't really invest in fashion and you want cheap tailoring go elsewhere. These people know what the hell they are doing in a way that has benefitted me in what I wear personally and professionally and for special occasions. This review is long overdue! Brothers Tailors is absolutely amazing, I could not say enough good things about them. Vickie and Margarita have been fitting my clothing for years and have perfectly tailored every almost every complementary piece of clothing in my wardrobe. Gus and Peter are always warm and welcoming and I feel like I'm visiting family every time I go there. I am a terrible customer, I always come with extensive alterations needed and a very limited timeframe! They are always accommodating and have a very good eye for the right fit and specific alterations needed for my clothing. I sent my sister there to have her wedding dress done by them as well, which was absolutely stunning, and then they altered it a second time 5 years later to fit her again after she had 2 babies for their vow renewal. My brother-in-law also had his entire wedding party (groomsman) suits down there as well, which came out absolutely beautiful and they have all worn for several weddings since then. I have since moved, and even though it is quite a drive from my house now, there is no where else I would go. Alterations is unreasonably overpriced compared to the poor quality of the job. I brought 3 skirts with linings to be re-hemmed after shortening, and did not check the result in the store. When I came home, I discovered that the slits on the skirts have been ruined, and it was very hard to imagine how professionals as they claim could do that! And they charged me $67.00. The store is tiny, and when you come repeatedly with alterations, and try to approach the counter where the orders are taken, they push you around very rudely, as you are not buying an expensive suit. There are other stores where you can make alterations and treated respectfully too. read more

I had a bizarre request as I needed some patches to be sewn onto a baseball hat. I call the store and they said of course they could help. I walked in and was greeted by very polite staff. I said I spoke to a man on the phone about having these patches sewn on a hat. An older gentleman (didn't catch his name) acknowledged that he was the one that spoke with me. I showed him what I wanted and he asked me to wait and he would do it. After 10 minutes he returned from the back of the store and one of the patches was in the wrong spot. He quickly retreated back to the rear of the store and had the issue corrected. When I asked him how much he looked me in the eye and said no charge for a veteran (the hat was for my father and the patches were from his service in Vietnam). Now this may not be the same circumstance for everyone/anyone else there, but they have won me as a customer as long as they are in business! read more

They should not alter prom dresses. They shortened my daughter's dress way too much and unevenly. We had to go buy new shoes with much lower heels, and the dress is till too short. We watched them mark the hem in the shoes she was going to wear, but the hem did not come out even close. I will say the beading repair they did was done very well. read more

WOW!!! Never have I been so disrespected as a paying customer and treated so rudely!!! I took my new suites in to be tailored paid for them and bought some new shirts and ties. I picked up my suites 5 days later and then headed out of town on a business trip. When I put my suit on the pants were not even done!!!! It is like I am wearing bellbottoms and the suite jacket was done very poorly. I called them to look into this for me and also so this does not happen to another customer. The gentleman was very arrogant, got extremely defensive, and basically rushed me off they phone!!! He said "look those things happen, we are a men's clothing store and taylor's. It's a hectic business, mistakes happen". Then as I tried to talk to him more about it he claimed he did not have time to talk to me anymore about an alteration. My advice stay away from this place!!!! There are much better options in the Phoenix area that understand customer service, will treat you with respect, and actually do what you pay them to do!!!! read more

Buyer beware! I needed a suit for a business meeting. I went to the Brothers Tailors store at Tatum and Thunderbird in Phoenix. Peter Zistas worked with me to find a material that I liked and measured me for a suit. He didn't have my size in stock so he ordered it. I paid in full and picked the suit up the following week. The jacket was too small so I returned it the following week at which point I was told I would have to pay for additional alterations. It doesn't seem right that he measured me and ordered the suit, but when it doesn't fit I have to pay additional money to get my new $470.00 suit to fit? I paid but I caution everyone that they shouldn't deal with these rip-off artists. I also noticed that they do not stand behind their suits. The receipt states that "All Sales Final" and "Not Responsible for Items After 30 Days." Use your good money at a store that appreciates their customers! read more

I use Brother's Tailors for all of my alterations, but haven't been in for a while since I haven't needed alterations. I bought a suit that I needed to have the pants hemmed that day. When I walked in, they were friendly, happy, and hemmed them while I waited. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. I was so surprised that they could do that so quickly. The only reason they get any star is because they were open. We went there with two suits to be altered and discovered the front man's sole objective was to sell suits off their racks. He stopped mid-discussion twice to attend to other prospects arriving after we did. One was given a hideous jacket to try on and told that it fit and looked good; it was dated, ill-fitting and a horrible color but the tailor-hustler told him it looked great. Stay away! read more

I came to Brothers to hem two pairs of pants and tailor a shirt for new years. Specifically telling that I will be back before new years to pick up the shirt. However when I came back to pick up the shirt five days later, it was not ready. I went to Brother's Tailors & Clothing to have a small but complicated repair done to a pair of ladies' pants. Gus and his son were very helpful and bent over backwards to make me feel that this little repair job was as important to them as the custom suits that were being measured that day too. For my daughters wedding I sent all the boys to buy their tuxes and suits and everything turned out perfect. My daughter-in-law (who lives in Germany) ordered a dress from Saks that needed to be altered in a hurry. The alteration didn't look exactly right so Gus when out of his way to make it right. We ordered another dress expressed shipped overnight and it ended up perfect. Gus took the first dress and told us not to worry as we would get a refund. We did! AMAZING!! My husband has needed new suits for about six months but he hates trying them on. So on his birthday I went in in the morning checked out this establishment, I talked to a woman that helped direct me to what we were looking for. I told her of my husbands concern for trying on and hanging out in stores too long. She assured me that she would take care of us. We came in later that afternoon and it took 20 minutes we had picked out three suits and we were on our way. The price, the service, and the quality were fantastic. I gave two stars instead of one(or none for that matter) because 2 out of the 3 suits ordered were actually really nice. Me and two of my brothers came here for suits. My oldest brother was getting married and we were hoping for the best. Our younger brother was hesitant about paying so much for a suit. We convinced him to go with it anyways for more of a bounding experience and because we figured these suits would be waaay better then some off the rack boxy thing. We all got custom suits. Gus is obviously very knowledgeable and has been doing it for a while. Unfortunately that is also where his weakness is. My brothers and I don't usually like the typical style which is why we went with a custom suit. When I gave Gus my options he fought me on several, not because I just didn't know about the material, but because he knew what was trending and more popular and I didn't. After spending 20 minutes of hearing him explain how that many breaks in the legs is not whats trending I insisted on MY CUSTOM suit being the way I wanted he finally said fine if that is what you want. After filling out my paperwork we realized he was putting my options on my brothers paperwork. To fix the situation he just ripped the paper off and swapped them. The suits arrived and we went in to check them out. He handed my brother(the one that didn't want to go here in the first place) "his" suit and when he opened it it had a jacket with two buttons. Since my brother knew he didn't want two buttons since the beginning, you know when he told Gus only one button and he argued with us for 15 minutes because one buttons are for tuxes and we didn't know what we were talking about. Short story long, between me and my two brothers we spent about 4500 for 3 custom suits and only two were done "custom" and the way we wanted. When we told Gus about the button being wrong he said well that is what is on the paper. We tried explaining that two button was NEVER what he wanted to which he repeated well that is what is on the paper. We tried explaining to him that he had messed up the papers and that he must have put the wrong option because thats what he was trying to push on my brother anyway. After arguing for about 30 minutes he said well we can just remake the jacket. We thought we resolved the issue but he proceeded to say that we would need to pay 700 for the remake. It was clear to us that Gus could make no mistake because he just knew so much. I was extremely dissatisfied about the situation and outcome. Go here and there is a 66% that you will get exactly what you ask for. When paying any amount especially the amount this place charges, anything less than 100% accuracy or even 100% willingness to correct the situation is just plain wrong. read more

To start, I have seen this shop many times, as I frequent two great restaurants next door. A few months ago, my fiance and I stopped into the store to get an idea on a suit for me for our up coming wedding. We first met the son, who was very nice and knowledgeable. I recently returned to the shop when it was time to finally purchase a suit as our wedding is getting close. I was helped by Maragita, and sold a nice suit. She initially gave me a good deal, and I felt satisfied with the experience. LET ME TELL YOU HOW THINGS CHANGED ONCE THEY'VE GOT YOUR MONEY!!!!! The suite was ordered from the manufacturer, and arrived about ten days later. When I went to pick it up, I tried it on for any necessary alterations. I was quoted an extra $115 to make it fit. Now I understand all suits need some alterations, but this was major work needed. I took the suit, to get some comparison quotes to fit it, which were cheaper. I decided to return to the shop to see if the would work with me in coming to an arrangement since I was not happy with the way the experience was going. A $200 suit, now was costing me $315, when i was under the impression that any alterations were included. I expressed my displeasure with Margarita, who became very defensive. I explained that I felt lead a stray in buying the suit since I tried the pants on in front of her and she knew how much alterations the would need. I understand that alterations are time consuming and people aren't going to work for free. I suggested a 50% discount and offered to pay $65, to meet me in the middle. She did not accept this, and was unwilling to work with me at all in satisfying my displeasure. She even had the attitude that it was some how my fault for not knowing how these things work. I informed her that she wasn't really doing much to keep me business, and she stated that she had many happy customers and didn't need my return business. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SATISFACTION IS NOT A CONCERN FOR THIS STORE. MARGARITA HAD NO INTEREST IN TRYING TO WIN MY REPEAT BUSINESS. ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY, YOU'RE OWN YOUR OWN. I needed to have 2 formal gowns hemmed for a special occasion and wanted to make sure it was done right. So I decided to take them to professional tailors rather than the neighborhood alterations place. I chose Brothers entirely based on reviews. Well, maybe they are great for men's suits, but they don't seem to care much about female customers needing alterations. I got a very indifferent reception when I came in. A lady had me put the gowns on and marked where the hems were supposed to be. She wasn't particularly friendly or interested in my gowns or my occasion. And then she named the price, and I nearly fainted. I knew it was going to be more expensive than what I'd paid in the past for getting hems done, but how expensive I could never imagine! I could buy another gown for that price! Seeing the expression on my face, she knocked down the price by $10, but that didn't make much difference. And she said they would be ready in a week, so I wasn't getting a rush service either. The gowns were ready when I came back, and a different lady just handed them to me, without even offering for me to try them on to make sure everything was right. I had to ask her for that. They never offered to help me getting the gowns on and off, although it's not an easy thing to do. They just didn't seem to care. The hems were fine - I have no complaints about that - but the entire experience was so average and definitely did not live up to the reviews I had read. If I ever need alterations done again, I will definitely shop around for a better price and better service. read more

Short version: GO THERE. Long version: The suits I got here look and fit better than all of my other suits (which I paid much more for). Last year I bought 3 suits for a supposed "low" price at Jos.A.Bank. After all of the tailoring was done, I ended up spending over $700. My friend also got some suits, and his looked MUCH better than mine. I asked how much his cost, and he told me, "$300 for all 3." I couldn't believe it, so I took his word for it and went to Brother's Tailors. Sure enough, it was the real-deal. This place is a small location in a strip mall, but when you go in, you realize they could expand to a much bigger store, because they have customers in and out all day. The place is packed with customers, and it's packed for good reason. It's amazing, in this economy, to see a small business thriving, because they provide outstanding products and services at great prices. It's not just a "bargain basement" place either. This is a great business. It's a fantastic tailor, offering incredible suits and clothing, regardless of the prices. Add in the fact that their prices are very low, and this place is the best out there. So, I now have my 3 suits for $300 (plus a little additional for the tailoring), and I'm going back for more in the near future. Give this place a chance. Don't let the small storefront and Phoenix/Tatum road location trick you into thinking this place isn't worth your while. I'd rather shop there than any major store in Scottsdale, Fashion Square, Kierland, etc., because the product and the service are better. read more

Before my visit to Brother's Tailors I never had a dress shirt made to my exact measurements. It was something I had always thought about doing, because more and more, the shirts off the rack at the usual department stores presented problems for me; so many, in fact, that I dreaded putting on a sport coats or suit. With an upcoming wedding on my calendar I decided now was the time. When I walked into Brother's I was met at the door by a confident and energetic young man named Peter, who happened to be a son of the owner. I explained my problem to Peter and what followed was an informative and eye opening presentation that made me wonder why I had waited so long to have a shirt or suit made for me. Peter loves what he does--making other people look their best--and patiently explained to me why I was having the problems I was having. Without going into too much detail I have slooping shoulders, one shoulder lower that the other, and a thick neck that falls into my shoulders. He preceded to take a series of very exact measurements, and then he and I picked out a fabric that the shirt would be built from. Three weeks later I was back in his store trying on the shirt he had made for me and, not surprisingly, it fit like a glove. Was the experience worth the few dollars more that I paid? Absolutely!!! I will look great and feel comfortable the night of my event. My only regret is I hadn't done this sooner. read more
