We had a late lunch at this location after visiting the Tate Modern. It was about a 10-15 minute walk from the Tate and near the Borough's market, which we wanted to go to but is not open on a Monday, thus we opted for a sit down restaurant and Brother Marcus was highly rated and looked to have healthy options. Our food started out well with an order of the 3 dips plus pita. The baba ghanoush was my favorite and one of the best I have ever had, the beet hummus was good but nothing special and the tzatziki was also good but not special. My husband loved the freshly made pita and though brought me a nice tasting slice of whole grain gluten free bread, though it was very small and only one slice so I mostly ate the dips without bread. A second slice would have been nice. I ordered the crispy calamari which was gluten free - a rarity for calamari, but I was very disappointed. The calamari pieces were very small and was overwhelmed by batter, you hardly tasted the calamari - not a healthy dish at at 19 pounds, very expensive for what it was, I could only eat a few bites as it was too much fried breading. My husband ate the rest. I was understandably still hungry and wanted something healthy so ordered the braised broccolini, it was good, though also had an excess of oil and it came with a nice mucus type sauce that I think was almond based. We had originally planned to order dessert, but decided to skip as our experience was a bit mixed. Our service was also very spotty, three different people took our order and overall seemed disinterested in service, which was a surprise since it was 4:00 and not yet busy. I would not go again. read more
