They have programs for the elderly which I think is very important to provide them with some support as many of them don't have that much interaction and thus make it very important. Another part I like is the youth programs. This is very crucial as it helps many youth provide mental health support and activities to enrich their lives and protect them from being on the streets and opening themselves to various things like drugs and other horrible things. I really like the leadership there, very friendly and always helping people of all backgrounds and colors.

The Islamic cultural center is a magnificent landmark and a truly special place. From the moment I entered the grounds there was nothing but peace. The beautiful Mosque is grand, modernist architecture on Third Avenue, you know you are visiting a landmark of spiritual and cultural significance. It is one of the city's largest mosques and serves not only as a place of worship for the Muslim community. Stepping inside, the vast, light-filled prayer hall with its soaring dome is breathtakingly peaceful. Upon entering the prayer room, shoes are not permitted. The ladies are on one side, and the men are on the other. Which I actually like because it was nice to have a place wherein ladies can speak and pray amongst themselves. Even though we were there for final prayers for the family matriarch. We were all at peace. The space is immaculately clean and well-organized, with a palpable sense of calm that is perfect for prayer and reflection. The staff and regular attendees are exceptionally friendly and welcoming to newcomers, including non-Muslim visitors like myself. The center also offers a wide range of educational programs and events, including weekly classes and forums, demonstrating its commitment to being a true cultural center, not just a mosque. Whether you are seeking a place to pray, to learn more about Islam, or simply to admire the unique and beautiful architecture, the ICCNY is a phenomenal place. You need a ID to get into the building, sign in. Take the elevator up. A beautiful room with floor to ceiling windows, open views of Washington Square park. I think today was in a different building next door law center, due to maybe large number of people. The room was filled to capacity. Excellent community, mostly all students and faculty and people that work near by. The Imam gave a fantastic talk. Sorry I don't know his name, but smart very progressive talk, relative pertinent to our lives in the US. I was looking at their website, they have many evening programs. At times living a foreign country we Muslims get confused and lose our identity. This is a great supportive community to practice Islam. all the best to you.

I've been going here for many years and I can tell you, they serve the best in-mosque Iftar in NYC, hands down! For a small urban style mosque in busy Astoria, they manage to have enough dates and fruits to please the elderly and freshly baked baklava for the kids. After breaking my fast, they held the Maghrib prayers/one of the 5 daily prayers in Islam... After prayer, a brigade of little kids started handing out something similar to a bento box. I was ecstatic to find a but-load of rice, a side of okra curry, salad, and a giant baked chicken leg. Chicken was tender and okra was sweet and savory. All in all, a pretty damn good meal, even better cuz its free!
