The 3 stars are for the doctors I liked and a FEW staff members.
My first impression of this place sucked.
I've been here about 5-6 more times now for an initial check-up/physical and for follow ups and have had some better experiences.
I have had great experiences each time with INNA and STEPHANIE who are both more knowledgeable and helpful than anyone else I've come in contact with.
My bad impression of this place came when you make an appt because it is a production before you are seen by the doctor. They overbook appts and get backed up and you could wait upwards of an hour just to been seen by the nurses - not even the doctor yet. Plan for 2 hours so you don't need to run out of there.
One nurse that I REALLY DID NOT LIKE was ZEREMA. This woman hates her life and her job. The few things that I asked were a bother and she was talking to me like I didn't understand English or that I was stupid (I am not the one with the heavy accent). Also when coming in to do an annual physical, I am under the impression that they do blood work, maybe urine testing and they can do a PPD for you, at your request, if you want - at least that's what I've experienced at other offices.
This woman's default is: irritated. I asked if there would be blood work or a urine test (which I asked because I held off going to the bathroom since I woke up for my 10 AM appt and I wasn't called in until about 12:35 PM) and she said "if you want." What? Is blood work not something that you collect anyway from a first time patient/client? Then she tried to ignore me so I spoke up again and said, if I don't need it, I'd like to go to the bathroom because I have been holding it. "So go" and then she passes me a cup. Ok so I work with kids and I figured let me do a PPD again this year.
Z: do you need it for work?
me: I don't think so, but I want it.
Z: so you want it?
me: yes.
Z: Why do you want it?
me: Because I work with kids.
Z: well if you don't need it why do you want it?
me: Because I want to have it. I work with kids.
Z: so do you want it or not??
me: yes
Z: well?? yes or no? (very enunciated)
me: i said "yes"
Meanwhile this whole conversation took place as she was shuffling back and forth throwing down tubes, needles and alcohol pads onto the desk and in a tone as though I've been intolerable the entire time. At this point my blood pressure and heart rate were elevated because it really took me so much control to not punch her or something - after all, she was in control of the needle.. Needless to say my blood pressure read very high, as far as standards go, and I am usually under the 120/80 mark.
I also did not enjoy my sonograms done by Yulia, as she was abrupt and harsh. She very shortly told me to lay down and pull up my shirt (the door was a bit open) then she proceeded to place the probe with super cold gel on me without warning and pressing into me with very forceful pressure. She got the gel all over my clothes and back and as she was checking my thyroid, choked me because of the abruptness of her movement and lack of warning. Then she said she "ok," literally dropped a roll of paper towels on my stomach, got up and left the room with the door wide open and with me laying there with my shirt up. She walks back about a full minute later and says "you're done" in a "get out" tone like I was supposed to know. This happened twice.
The second time, there was apparently a "student" who walked in on my heart sonogram (meaning my upper body, while under a gown, was exposed). It was hard to tell what type of personnel she was considering she was in street clothing. I wasn't given any notice, like I should have, and she was explaining everything to the student (in Russian) instead of anything to me. When I flinched from the cold gel, she made a comment that usually only men are bothered by the gel. WTeeff does that mean? Whatever..
The 2 doctors I had a chance to see were Dr. Leonid Goldin and Dr. Mayya Fasolya. Both very nice, easy to talk to and didn't mind questions. I had a very nice experience with them. They were super helpful and informative.
I recommend the doctors, Inna, Stephanie and some of the other girls, but steer clear of Zerema - you'll know her by that "I-hate-life" mug on her face. read more
