I first went to see him after starting my natural birth journey when I became pregnant with my second child. With my first, after about 30 weeks I was in pain every day and couldn't sleep for any period without a heating pad and pillows pressed into my back and this ended up being very indicative of the kind of birth I would experience. Though I went into my pregnancy with my first child wanting to have a natural birth, I wasn't able to, despite having done many things to facilitate that, including seeing a very well reviewed chiropractor in my hometown. So when I got pregnant again, despite the pain and fear of my prior experience, I still had a passion for natural birth and wanted to try chiropractic care again when I started experiencing the same back pain and discomfort I had with my first. I cannot even explain the difference between the few highly reviewed chiropractors I saw previously and Dan. When you visit a regular chiropractor, they ask you questions about where your pain/discomfort is, when it started, etc. They might do their best to balance the one area you describe, but that is the limit of their practice. Dan operates on a whole other spectrum. He sees the body as many parts which have to be balanced in order to work seamlessly and in harmony. This harmony means free movement without pain or discomfort. So on the initial visit, he takes the time to understand your body and any potential imbalances you might have, understanding that pain in one area doesn't necessarily mean that this is the sole area that he needs to focus on. Instead, his wider approach means he will check alignment throughout the body. During an appointment, Dan has often mentioned an area of concern, likely related to an injury I had completely forgotten about, or I thought wasn't serious. Thankfully, he has completely repaired some of my chronic imbalances through adjustments, and has helped me to develop a greater sense of balance in my body. I was able to get consistent care during the last month of pregnancy with Dan, and he also provided me with more resources in hopes of achieving the natural and happy birth experience I wanted. He got to know me and my body to such an extent that he even predicted the day I would go into labor! Thankfully, as a result of my chiropractic care with him, I was able to have the birth I wanted, and I was immensely impressed by my body's ability to give birth with almost no effort... it makes the list as one of the best experiences of my life, not just because I had a beautiful baby afterwards, but also because it restored my faith in my body that, cared for in the right way, it has the strength to do anything with ease. I know that Dan is the reason I was able to achieve this, and he will always have my gratitude and I recommend him whenever I have the chance. I still go to see him whenever I do something to compromise the balance of my body and I leave every adjustment with renewed strength and mobility. I have also taken my children, as well! A few friends and family members have gone to see Dan since I shared my experience and we all are amazed that in a small town like Crescent City there can be a chiropractor of his caliber and knowledge.
