It is an "innovation incubator" which is a space designed to help folks develop their ideas into fruition, and flourish as an up-n-coming small business. So many of the best businesses in Queens got their legs in this space, and for food oriented bizes especially; this is a place where a licensed kitchen is available for just about any occasion from testing to presenting. This is especially important for folks who aren't looking to sign a lease for a commercial space and/or want to try something out before venturing out on their own. It's still relatively new as it's only been around for a few years. It's not the largest space, but it addresses a crucial need for small businesses who are hoping to take their food game to the next level. Folks can rent the spaces and the place is open 24 hours a day. FIngers crossed they stick around for a long time.

So cool! I did not know this place existed until last night! There were 34 vendors explaining and giving tastes of their best foods and drinks. With so many options and limited belly room, I didn't get to try all 34, but we made a brave attempt! (Ok, Maybe I tried 30). My favorites were: Biggie's Crack Toffee- winner in my book. Amazing delicious toffees. Two people next to me took a bite, one person opened their eyes wide and said OMG! The other person was nodding and smiling. Out of the three flavors available for tasting, I wanted to take home two flavors: the bitter sweet pomegranate crackling toffee and the sweet aromatic toasted pecans with bourbon. So good! Veda's Cakes and catering- their roti was this fluffy cloud-like roll filled with curried chicken. Great flavors. I will definitely visit when they set up a restaurant. Judy's Knishes- crispy potato and onions reminded me of my mother's cooking. It was filling, simple and homey at the same time. Great bite. Pretzel Man- gooey cheese stuffed fluffy pretzel was delicious. Casa Maya- their slightly sweet hearty smoked "Fire roasted red medium salsa" was so good that I bought one bottle to take home. Most surprising: Phoebe's - her 'Omega-3 bombs' were chock filled with 9 whole grains, flaxseed and was hearty and beautiful. Tasted nutty and had a soft texture. Very filling. Viva Natural Pao de Queso- gluten free cheese rolls. They tasted like lighter version of Brazilian cheese bread. I liked the cheese and the smoked salmon sandwiched inside. Uji Smoothies- smoothies made from whole grains. I thought this was be disgusting but it was surprisingly light and one of the smoothies tasted like drinking oatmeal and two tasted pretty good (chia and citrus + quinoa + mixed berries). I can't wait to come back next year!

The atmosphere was great and not too loud for a conversation. Staff service was really accommodating and quite friendly. The menu for the night was very interesting, lots of interesting flavors I was lucky enough to have tried. Each dish I had seem to be paired with a choice of set drink. I was just full enough when I finished desert, which is quite pleasant. The staff really know their stuff so dont be afraid to ask them questions about the menu, because I definitely didnt know some of the different ingredients on the menu. By the end of the night I was just full from the drinks and the food. The set menu for the night seem to be different each time, so every time is a new experience. I would definitely go to another event if I get the chance!

Imagine the citrus notes of orange, tomatoes in the farmers markets. Think of the markets themselves, the smell of the wet wooden crates, the blends of aromas from different ingredients, mingled with fragrances and whiffs coming from all around you spark paint a picture of the market itself in your mind. And then comes the Chef, each chef has his own essence, a unique sense to approach ingredients, treat them, mix them plate them. At 'project Sāra' we believe that being a Chef is a process, it is not an event. One cannot be a Chef by reading thousands of books, writing hundreds of exams. It has to be in the blood from the start. And we at project Sāra seeks to focus on this essence of being a Chef. Using anti-restaurants as a platform, we tie up with any willing aspiring chef, food blogger, culinary students and allow them to express their creativity through our supervision, guidance, location, team and resources. The result is a pop- up restaurant with a unique menu, innovative setting and an unforgettable dining experience. We call upon all those who speak the language of ingredients to come and share this experience.
