This historic hotel built in 1927 has recently turned itself into an upscale vintage shoppe and its original details will give you everything need for inspiration. Old double-entry doors, creaky wood floors, a climbing staircase and nooks and crannys with character. Swoon! The first floor is a antique shoppers delight because there are so many great pieces and they are also really affordable. The placement here is outstanding. Oh. duh. This is the handiwork of local artists who specialize in interior decorating and painting. You can stop in and shop or you can sign up for classes on their facebook page. Cool! Upstairs you will be tempted to buy clothes, scarves, jewelry and home decor. Take a moment to soak in the fact that the rooms you are walking around in are old hotel rooms. Numbers on the doors. Wash sinks still in the room. Closets that creak. And how cool is the name?! Lacy hotel is the perfect spot for the new owners' business.

But the pricing is beyond outrageous. So its one of those places that has lil areas/rooms for each seller to sell their items. But here are some examples of their pricing: -$25 for a basic, no thrills, no design, nothing glass jar with lid -$4500 for a "cabinet" that is literally just a bookshelf, no drawers or cabinet doors etc -$18 for a bowl that looked exactly like one I saw at Dollartree the other day, no not name-brand -$17 for a empty shell oil can -$80 for a cast iron money box that sells for $20 on ebay - 7 pieces creamer/sugar set for $149 thats selling for $48 on etsy. There are over 100 antique shops in the area....... but this one needs to reevaluate their pricing. I came over here a few weeks ago on a Monday and waited for them to open and 15-20 minutes after opening hours no one was here and the door was still blocked with items. I called and got their voicemail which said that summer hours would include being open on Mondays 12-7. At that time there was no sign on the door saying closed for the day. I decided to try again today. Called twice before heading over to the store to see if they would in fact be open. Still no answer other than the voicemail, but the voicemail still said they would be open from 12-7 on Mondays. So, I decided to risk it. I just drove up to find out they still are in fact not open, at least they have a sign on their door (spelled wrong I might I add). If you are going to have a voicemail listing your hours of operation, you need to update it if you are going to be unexpectedly closed on a random, non holiday, day. This makes me very unlikely to come back because I don't want to waist my time or gas.

Although I found it to be outside my wallet price point, I really appreciate how Todd and his wife concentrate on mid-century vintage. This come-back era is hot right now and specialization gives them the ability to focus on quality pieces. All items are cleaned and treated - absolutely ready to be brought home. Super high end. I mean, you could eat right off those bright avocado green plates. Here's my two cents on why spot-clean is critical. It might go without saying in this business..but whoa!...presentation and suggestion for homeware use and decor is key. Especially for mid-mod items, the cleaner the pieces, the more vivid the color which just throws you right into back into mid-mod environs. They do a terrific job here. (I mean, do you want to take home a dusty, faded-color, fondue tray which lost its elements that evoke the era?) The whole shop knocks my socks off! Product displays are very well done and you are jolted back in time the moment you walk in the door. The vignettes keep a steady theme and the colors totally pop. Just like they did mid-century. Here is what you'll find: tables, mirrors and furniture, lots of lamps, plenty of paintings, canisters, radios, knick-knacks, funky book ends, lots of owls, plates and bowls and zillions more. They really do pack it in here. And they have so much more to display. I see this really as the showcase boutique for their online shop. Todd told me the story of how he and his wife fell in love with all things mid-mod whey bought their 1960s-something home. Try to catch them on the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month. The shop is only open occasionally. Definitely worth a visit.
