CAUTION ! CAUTION ! CAUTION ! WARNING ! WARNING ! WARNING ! My girlfriend & I live here in Essex Jct, Vermont. I've lived in Vermont my entire life. (60-years) This Attorney, Cindy Broadfoot, shouldn't even be able to Practice Law ! She treated my girlfriend & I w/such disrespect that we are going to report her by filing a Formal-complaint with the Vermont Responsibility Board in Montpelier, in regards to how Mrs. Broadfoot lead us on & lied to us all awhile she knew that we had Superior-Court deadlines pending & made us wait w/NO COMMUNICATIONS whatsoever for 3-MONTHS !!!! And then when we did finally hear BACK from her, of course it was bad news ! Her Paralegal told us to come pick up our File because she didn't have enough time to represent my girlfriend and the car-accident she was in & her injury ! UNBELIEVABLE. Something she could have told us MONTHS SOONER !!! It's amazing how many losers become Attorneys in this City. And they get away w/treating innocent people like dirt ! And get away w/it ! You try & tell the acting Judge that the Atty who has your Case-file is taking several months to review it, and the Judges hands are tied ! Even the Judge, after telling us she couldn't give us any legal-advice, went ahead & told us about the Vermont Responsibility Board. I'm certain the Judges are sick of these types of lame Attorneys & their unethical & disrespectful behaviors too. Ultimately, when we 1st met Mrs. Broadfoot, she made us feel so confident that she was most likely going to take my girlfriends PI case & represent her & her serious back injury. Even after we made it perfectly clear that we were running out of time to secure Counsel. But then, after we dropped off my girlfriends case file, per Mrs. Broadfoot, Mrs. Brioadfot held onto my girlfriends case-file for over 3-MONTHS. ALL WHILE PRE-TRIAL Hearings were already scheduled & coming & going. So we fearfully but patiently waited & waited & waited & waited & waited for Mrs. Broadfoot to contact us w/in a reasonable & respectable time to either confirm she was taking the case or to tell us we needed to find another Lawfirm to take the case. Mrs. Broadfoot KNEW the clock was ticking ! Well, after not hearing back from Mrs. Broadfoot for 2-ENTIRE MONTHS, many of our emails & phone calls went unanswered to Mrs. Broadfoots office demanding some answers. Still we were falsely given hope that Mrs, Broadfoot was going to represent my girlfreind & take her PI case to Trial. Well, 3-ENTIRE MONTHS LATER Mrs., Broadfoot has one of her Paralegals reach out to us to tell us to come pick up my Girlfreinds entire Case-file because Mrs., Broadfoot wont be representing my GIrlfriend because she just doenst have enough time ! This was just 2-weeks prior to our 1st & only Pre-Trial hearing ! THIS ATTY IS ONE OF THE MOST SELFISH & UNETHICAL ATTORNEYS I'VE EVER MET ! AND I'VE UNFORTUNATELY HAVE HAD TO MEET & DEAL WITH MANY ATTORNEYS HERE IN THE BURLINGTON AREA OVER THE PAST 40-YEARS. STEER CLEAR OF THIS ATTORNEY IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU & YOUR LEGAL MATTERS ! read more

If I could leave a lower score I would. She over charges for time by forgetting prior conversations, does not work to defend you, her client, but seems to work for the opposing teams wishes. She has cost me so much money on top of the atty fees because what she has written up in final Stipulation orders is again not protecting you but protecting the other side. Extremely unhappy after spending over $20,000!! in costs and that didnt include even going to court! Id look elsewhere, trust me, you will not be happy here. read more

As other's have said, Cindy takes the money and runs. I hope to God she gets investigated and disbarred. Here's my story: Cynthia and her team stole my retainer without ever performing a drop of legal work. It's been 8 months and I'm still fighting to get even the "unused" portion of my retainer back. The only legal work her team ever once did was to grossly benefit the opposing party at great financial and emotional cost to myself. Unfortunately after so many months I'm now forced to follow up with the court system against this horrible legal practice. Also worth noting that what she charged thousands and thousands in retainers for was a $140 form anyone can send in and probably should have advised me to do. Stay away from this crook at all costs and if you are in a professional capacity to do something, please do! read more

I love the this Law Firm! Cynthia guided me through an extremely difficult time in my life...and made me feel confident about how they handled things from the minute I walked into their office. read more

Cynthia helped us with a family court nightmare. She was able to jump in on short notice, get up to speed quickly, and effectively strategize to help with a good outcome. We had a similar situation a few years ago and used a different lawyer that had 0 leadership and strategizing skills and it really made a difference this time. read more

Professionally they are solid but response times are bad. The firm has grown quickly and service has been greatly affected. Cynthia took too long to respond and I had no other choice but to find another council. This caused me to pay double for a simple transaction. When I explained the situation to the firm and asked for a small discount they just didn't care and told me to pay the bill. I found this to be quite unfair and unethical. read more

My experience was much more in line with the first reviewer's: Cindy seems disorganized and overwhelmed, and after we had spent time and money she dropped us as clients without warning. Here's the longer version: We had to wait a while to get an initial appointment, but then we had two good and informative meetings. We did not receive a promised follow-up document despite asking again for it, but that seemed minor. After thinking it over for a month, we emailed Cindy's assistant to let her know we wished to move forward with our case, and asked what the next step should be. We did not receive a response to this message, so a few weeks later we sent a follow-up email to Cindy and her assistant asking the same question again: What do we do to get the ball rolling? Cindy responded that she was busy, and asked us to schedule a meeting another month out. We did so, but since we still had not received an answer to our initial question, we didn't know why we were meeting or what we needed to prepare. So we asked Cindy's assistant what the goal or agenda was. She said she would ask Cindy. When another several weeks passed without a reply, we sent a follow-up email. Cindy then called us, told us that she could not meet our expectations, and told us that it "wasn't working out." Basically, she fired us. One interpretation is that we really *were* too demanding. I have a hard time seeing it. We were polite, and waited weeks for replies. We respect Cindy's time, and we are quite willing and able to pay for it. All we wanted was once sentence of reply in two months to give us some sense of what might happen next or what was going on. When we finally did hear from her, it was clear from the get go that she was done with us. We were shocked since we had still hoped to move forward on the case with her. My sense of things is that she is overwhelmed and disorganized, and we were one of the things she decided to drop. It was an extremely frustrating experience. We spent time off work and $750, and ended up just wasting four months. Now we are back at square one. I wish we'd gone elsewhere. read more

Phenomenal experience! I needed help in a hurry, as it related to my divorce. I met with Cindy quickly after my first contact with the firm and when I left that initial meeting, I had a great feeling about my timeline, estimated expenses, and legal arguments that were in play. [I remember that at one point she hopped up to go grab a book and read me the statute related to my key point of contention, explaining why we had a strong case.]. After the initial meeting with Cindy, I frequently corresponded with Deborah Ryan as well as Cindy. I had complete faith in their capabilities and when I emailed questions I always had a response by the end of the day. Ultimately, we won our case in court and it played out exactly as Cindy had said it would, in our first meeting...aided by Deborah's ridiculous (and admirable) attention to details that you wouldn't even think matter, but served to further prepare us for our court date. I would go back to use them again in a minute. [Retained early December, 2019 and case won in late January, 2020.] read more

Cynthia did a great job in the brief, partial, one hour hearing that actually took place. Outside of court, she was horrible. One delay after another and she would take weeks to get back to us. My daughter's ex, cheated on her with her best friend. A promise of a six month resolution turned into a 2 year ordeal. During that time, my daughter lost her job and was hospitalized for nearly a month due to the stress. Yet Cynthia sent us an email blaming everything on my daughter and suggested we find another attorney as she was "tired of defending (our) position" barely a month prior to the final support hearing. This was AFTER she took $35,000. from us. The ex's attorney put in every discovery request imaginable yet Cynthia put in ZERO. She seemed too willing to get this delayed, the delays costing us substantially more money. At times it seemed like the ex was her client, not us. He went months without paying child support for his 3 kids including thousands in expenses incurred prior to the oldest graduating from high school at the age of 17. We should have taken our attorney's advice and hired another attorney even after spending an inordinate amount of money on her but my daughter wanted this over with and needed to get her health and life back. read more
