I am not one to ever leave a review. But I was so heart broken & unsatisfied with how things ended with this "day care" that I had to create my very first yelp account.
Let me first start off by saying that I am very aware of the "Contract" I signed. In the beginning when registering my son into Bright Star Day Care, I had made it very clear to Asley how I have been struggling with personal family matters. I am a single mother, with only a sister to count on. My sister & I had a falling out & resulted me into pivoting fast & finding an alternative baby sitter. I needed something close by & with long hours. I came across this specific day care & thought I was lucky! Till I wasn't. The contract I signed states that I will be paying "260 dollars for full time A WEEK" . My son's schedule was 4 days for 9 hours a day. That's 36 hours. Since when was 36 hours full time?
As I'm registering him & filling out this "contract" I am also telling her that I enrolled him into school & he will be starting on his 3rd birthday which was a little over 2 months from this point. She proceeded to ask me when his birthday is because she throws the kids birthday parties if they come in on their day. SHE NOTED MY SONS BIRTHDAY. I also mentioned this to her a few more times during pick up & drop offs that he will be going to school soon.
Fast forward to a few weeks, my son has been attending day care. He got sent home a few times for being "sick"after barely recovering from another cold. Odd.
The contract says she goes on vacation for 2 weeks during the summer & will be closed. She takes her vacation & is closed for 2 weeks + the following Monday . Us moms had to miss work or find a last minute babysitter because we thought session was starting that Monday. Still had to paid full price for 3 days. The two weeks that my son was with another sitter because they were on vacation? Yeah I paid half price both weeks.
Weeks go by & I am picking up my son. we have small talk & again mentioned that I'm excited for my baby to start school when he turns 3. She was concerned that it was too soon for him to start. I expressed how my son has been showing many signs that he's ready & loved going when I had to enroll him.
It's finally the week of my baby's birthday! Also a super heavy work week at my job. I send her a message in the morning reminding her this is my sons last week as he will be starting school the following Monday.
I got no response.
The next morning I get a message saying that I have to put in a 2 week notice & that my sons last day will be August 11th. I messaged her Monday, July 20th. My son's birthday is July 23, Wed. First day of school was July 7th but my son was not eligible to start till he turned 3.
So she wanted me to pay for the 20th(his last week), the 27th, the 3rd & the 10th (even though his last day is the 11th, a MONDAY) AT FULL PRICE LMAO &&& delay my son of another 3 weeks of school.
She really was gonna have me pay for 2 week notice + the week of the 3rd & the 10th. CRAZY. After expressing my thoughts on this she proceeded to bring up the contract, that I signed the contract, its in the contract blah blah blah.
I told her I wasn't going to pay all that when my son is gonna be at school. Not at day care. She then told me that she already spoke to my sister & they both came to the conclusion that since MY SON starts school NEXT week, my sister will drop him off after school Until the 2 weeks are up. Still paying FULL PRICE. WHY WOULD YOU PLAN SOMETHING W MY SISTER ABOUT MY SON & NOT INCLUDE ME. Now I'm getting angry. Especially because she said they talked last week. So she knew 2 weeks prior to his first day. But she wants to pretend like she didn't have an enough time of a notice. My son is out of school at 4:30 pm. When he was at day care, pick up was 5:30pm. She wanted me to pay full price knowing that he was only gonna be able to be there for 30 mins. ALL to COMPENSATE me having to pay still when he is no longer in the program & now in pre school. Just ridiculous. She didn't even offer to cut my price or change my schedule on the contract but I have to pay full price for two weeks that my son won't be there now that "she knows"
it ended w me getting tired of arguing with her & not responding to her after she said that my remaining balance is $520 if I want to avoid breech the contract. Lol
So guess who didn't get a birthday this year because I had to pay 520 at once to get out of the contract or I'll be getting sued. My poor baby. But it's okay.
I really wish she would have been more understanding & sincere about this. I really wish things could have came to a mutual understanding, but unfortunately that wasn't it.
Had I had more time to check out multiple daycares instead of going to the first option, I would have & I would have avoided all of this. But maybe you can!
Thank you Bright Star Day Care, for this unforgivable experience. read more
