I've never had a bad meal here. Every time I come, the food is amazing and innovative. On my most recent visit, I walked in without a reservation on a Saturday night. Inside seating was full but they were nice enough to seat us outside on the patio. We were the only ones on the patio the whole night which was ideal for conversation as it was definitely loud and bustling inside. We ordered the burrata with scallion pancake (my favorite dish of the night), fried cauliflower bao buns, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. I've always had friendly and attentive service here, but our server this time, Roisin, was one of the best servers I've ever had. She was so welcoming and helpful. All dishes were served 'family style' but also kinda tapas where they're smaller portions. We picked 2 things per person. And ultimately couldn't fully finish everything we ordered. Pumpkin Gnocchi was our favorite. Pork belly lettuce wraps were our second. Scallops were also second ‍ Macaroni & cheese tacos were tasty but not spectacular. This place has an excellent drink collection. I went in on a Saturday evening with a decent wait time so might be good to call in for a reservation ahead. The place has a nice vibe to it and a decent sitting area at the bar. The service is nice and the food comes out at lightning speed to the table. Don't let the speed fool you though. The food is fresh and delicious. I ordered the fried chicken fried rice which had popcorn chicken, shrimp, fried egg, veggies and a curry sauce along with crispy wafers for the crunch. I definitely wanted to also try the scallops as they looked amazing so maybe next time. Finished with the chocolate soufflé for desert which was beyond amazing. Best restaurant I've tried in Brighton so far. Lots of tasty small plates to try, and each of them was excellent. Good cocktail selection too. Plantain chips with the tuna ceviche were great and I haven't had something like that before. Buratta was one of the best I've ever had. We also tried the gnocchi (10/10). Overall loved the selection and we got amazing and friendly service (including a recommendation for the best dessert I've had in months). I could see how they were evoking breakfast flavors, while still keeping the Asian rice noodle with veggie base.The chile sauce on the side did a lot for it too. I really liked the ambiance of this place and thought it was cool that they changed their menu daily. However it is moreso they change certain items - not all! We got many many dishes and they were all pretty tasty. I would say the least favorite was the yuca fries. They have a bar to drink at and a kitchen bar to eat at. Despite liking all of that, I am giving it four stars because it is definitely not the quality of food I'd expect (a lot of it is frozen). I only noticed this because we sat at the kitchen bar. I loved Brighton Bodega on Taco Tuesday! We got there around 8 pm & it was still buzzing, however, we were sat outside almost immediately. Once sat, we were given the Tiki/Taco Tuesday menu and a QR code to the full menu which was a great variety. Additionally, our waitress explained that they are a tapas style restaurant. I appreciated that this was made known the second we sat down! We ordered the Empanadas (phone didn't eat first!), Rib Eye Tacos & Fish Tacos. All plates came out within 5-10 minutes of each other. We got started with a few drinks. I got the Vepser Royale. It was a fine cocktail, wouldn't say it was out of the world, but seemed to be generally okay. We also ordered the prosciutto plate to share. The prosciutto with the fig and goat cheese was delicious. They also have Asian fusion inspired items on the menu which seemed interesting. I finished with a beer (a sour). Their selection of beers is decent. The place has a decent ambience. It is definitely more on the pricier side, and I'm not sure I'd say the price was worth it, but definitely a good place to for a first date, or a good catchup. Came here for quick drinks before dinner on a Thursday night. I got the sangria and my friend got a sour beer. We both enjoyed our drinks but loved the salmon sashimi tostada more! It was light and refreshing with my favorite toppings including radishes, guacamole and furikake. So much so I came back the following Saturday! Luckily this time I made reservations in which we showed up about 5 min later for. Hostess informed me they are running behind but only took an additional 10 min before getting seated. My drink was the empress new grove and my friend got the bartender day off. I loved the presentation of the magenta color with the dried blood orange on top. We shared our meals including the burrata salad, confit duck boas, corn and lobster quesadilla, al pastor tacos and fried chicken ramen. The fresh salad was much needed to off set all the carb and protein of the other dishes. The duck had a beautifully crispy layer of skin with the tender meat in a fluffy bun. I would, however, had appreciated a little more sauce to mend the dish a bit more together. The corn lobster quesadilla was delicious and served with plump pieces of lobster and a slightly spicy queso as well as the same guacamole used on the tostadas. For the tacos, they also were served with a hearty portion of beef. The cojito cheese provided some creaminess while the vinegary based habanero hot sauce cut the oiliness. I wasn't too crazy about the fried chicken as crispy chicken and broth just do not mix well. The flavor of the broth was salty and had reminiscent flavors of ramen but the noodles themselves seemed over cooked and fell short. Overall great experience and would definitely come again. I had always heard good things about Brighton Bodega, and despite living close to it for nearly a year, I had never been in because I thought it was grossly overpriced for a tapas place. After getting paid one weekend I decided to put those feelings away and finally try it out. We went around 6PM on a Saturday and the place was only half filled, so we got a table right away. We could see into the open kitchen which was nice, so we knew the food would come out quickly. I got a cocktail, which I totally forget the name, but it was that unmemorable. Just tasted boozy. We started off with the Halloumi Fries. They were pretty good (loved the sauce), but for the $11 price tag were way too small for an order. They tasted nothing special outside of the sauce. I liked the pomegranate seeds on them. Then we had the Sardine Toast. It was something like $6 which wasn't too bad. It tasted too fishy for me, but my boyfriend liked it. It was plated beautifully. We split the duck laksa and the hoison duck pancakes. Both were around $15 each. I wanted to LOVE the pancakes, but the flavor wasn't there. I thought it would be similar to moo shu, but it was just the duck to wrap in the thin pancakes. It was alright, and certainly the most filling of all the dishes, but wasn't my favorite. The laksa had a nice bit to it, but was a little too spicy for my tastes. I feel like the duck added nothing too the dish and was just put on top so they could charge more. The thing that bothered me the most was our waitress. She checked in on us sure, and left a carafe of water since we drank it so fast, but whenever she would check on us she didn't actually look at us. Just weird. Also, as we were leaving she pretty much scoffed looking at our receipt while we were putting our coats on. We left a 20% tip on a $75 bill so I didn't see what the problem was? Just overall very rude and it made me not want to come back. Although there are not a lot of options left in the area, I won't be back. Too pricy, bad service, and overall just not worth it. Had dinner here last Saturday night and it was sooo good! Although the restaurant was kind of busy, we were seated immediately. Service was so fast and the staff was very friendly. We ordered several dishes (maybe one too many) but loved each one! The highlights for me were the seared scallops and Korean fried cauliflower steamed buns. The scallops were cooked to perfection with a smokey flavor, and the pesto with veg paired so nicely with it. The cauliflower buns were out of this world, like nothing I've tasted before. Sweet and salty; a flavor bomb! The harissa Brussels sprouts were way too spicy for me. The dates were an unexpected, delicious combo though. We also ordered cocktails: I had the sangria roja (excellent) and my husband had the dessert before dinner (both of us hated it - not sweet, very strong, tasted like cough medicine). My boyfriend had fried rice with seafood and I ordered Karaage fried chicken. The cool thing about this place is that they change their items on the menu pretty often. When you go there you never know if they will have dishes on the menu from your previous visit. Everything was great except that served our food apart. My boyfriend's dish was served 20 minutes before mine. He was waiting for my dish and by the time they brought it, his food was cold. The waiter said that it happens pretty often. However, I could tell you that prepare the fright chicken does not take a lot of time. No one wants to wait until their friend or family finally got their food and eat your food cold. I came with 3 friends on a Thursday evening for dinner. It wasn't crowded and we were able to be seated outside immediately upon arrival. We ordered the bodega fried rice, Nashville chicken steamed buns, pumpkin gnocchi, Maine mussels, and curly fries (which weren't on the menu). I had never had Nashville chicken before, so I was shocked by how spicy it was! The bun was super fluffy, but I feel like I'd get a different filling next time - maybe bulgolgi? I didn't have high hopes for the pumpkin gnocchi - I tend to not like pumpkin flavored things - but the gnocchi was surprisingly my favorite dish of the night! The pasta was kinda crispy on the outside, but super chewy and delicious on the inside. I would definitely order that again! The fried rice was okay - nothing special. But, I did love the shrimp crackers! I would order just a side dish of shrimp crackers if I could! The mussels were good - I've never had mussels before so I guess I don't have much to compare it to. My friends said the meat inside was much smaller than they were expecting... so there's that. The curly fries were good - nothing special to note here. The waitress was really kind and attentive. Favorite restaurant in Boston! Amazing food on a regularly changing tapas-style menu, and spectacular service. Highly recommended for a date spot or hanging with close friends. The food is very seasonal, but they keep some of their top hits on the menu. Can't miss items are the steam buns--my favorite one is the Korean fried cauliflower--whichever chicken wing they have on the menu currently, and the sticky toffee pudding. I also love the ricotta stuffed gnocchi when tomatoes are at their peak. There's plenty of vegetarian options too, which are excellent and never feel like you're missing out by choosing those instead of a protein dish. Since it is tapas-style, they're good about making the dishes fairly easy to split, or letting you buy another portion of the item for cheap so you have enough for your group. Brighton Bodega is also great at accommodating food allergies. I've got a squid/calamari allergy, and a friend of mine has a nut allergy, both of which they've worked around without issue. And even when they've had a calamari-heavy menu that I've decided isn't worth the risk, the menu changes after a couple of weeks so I can go back with no issue. As for service, it is exceptional. The waitstaff is attentive, but they don't check on you constantly. They confirm that they heard correctly about food allergies and will ask the chef if they're unsure, which is very important for me to feel safe and comfortable at a restaurant. Special shout out to Róisín, who in particularly does a great job of being friendly and predicting exactly when you need her for something even on a busy night, but without being obtrusive. The atmosphere is lovely, especially on the patio when the weather is nice. If I'm planning on going for a Friday night, I do book a reservation. I wish the reservation booking system was easier though; you're supposed to get a text when it is confirmed, but I never get it. Usually it still goes through. I recommend getting 2-3 items for each person, at about $15-$20 each dish on average. I usually get one cocktail to go with it, around $15. This way you get to sample a lot of foods, you leave pleasantly full after a nice evening, and your night comes to about $60-$70 with a good tip. I'd rather skip getting takeout once or twice in exchange for a really good time here. Overall, an awesome restaurant! read more

This is a gem of a restaurant. Some of the dishes here are truly inspired. Unfortunately the menu changes a lot and so some of our favorites have gone off the menu. The beet gnocchi with a citrus sauce was one of the best dishes we've had. ever. The pumpkin gnocchi with sage and blue cheese is excellent as well. As far as I, my wife and adult kids are concerned, this is the best restaurant in Boston. We've tried them all, "Michelin", "5 star", "Best of Boston", "famous chefs", etc, but nothing comes close to the consistently perfect combo of atmosphere, food, drinks, and extraordinary staff of BB.
