Bright Bird Photography specializes in relaxed, artful family photography in Ojai and throughout Ventura County. I photograph families, children, maternity, newborns, seniors, pets, and the milestones—and wonderfully ordinary moments—that make up a life.
My approach is playful, intuitive, and never overly posed. Kids can run, dogs can be dogs, and nobody has to behave perfectly for beautiful photographs. I’ll offer direction when you need it, then leave plenty of room for the funny, tender, quirky moments that happen on their own.
What makes Bright Bird different is the combination of a relaxed family session with more than 20 years of professional photography experience. I bring the same eye for light, movement, color, and storytelling that I use in my commercial work, while creating an experience that feels easy and genuinely fun.

History
Established in 2009.
Bright Bird Photography began in 2012 as a wedding photography business, built around a love of honest, beautiful storytelling. Over the years, many of the couples I photographed became families, and I had the joy of being invited back to document new babies, growing kids, beloved pets, and all the wonderfully imperfect life that came after the wedding.
As my wedding work evolved into Alexa Gallo Weddings, I didn't want to lose Bright Bird—or the community and history that had grown around it. Instead, it felt natural to let it evolve too.
Today, Bright Bird is the nest: a home for families, children, pets, and all the beautiful, funny, tender chaos of family life. It's a continuation of what Bright Bird has always been about—connection, storytelling, and preserving the people and moments we love.
Meet the Business Owner: Lexy M.
I'm Lexy Miller, an Ojai-based photographer and graduate of ArtCenter College of Design with more than 20 years behind the camera. Alongside Bright Bird, I work as a commercial and lifestyle photographer, creating campaigns for brands including Disney, Amazon, Marriott, Delta Airlines and others.
Some of my favorite commercial assignments have involved photographing children—which turns out to require many of the same things I love about family photography: play, patience, spontaneity, and being ready for the moment you couldn't possibly plan.
I bring that experience to Bright Bird, but leave the big production behind. Sessions are relaxed, playful and centered around who your family really is. I love beautiful light and beautiful photographs, but I also love the quirky, funny, imperfect moments that make a family yours.
