It is all about the price of the office visit, does not give a crap about the people.

I was very pleased with my experience at Doris Hamawy Family Practice. I can be a hard critic of…read moredoctors offices and the people employed by them - as I am not the biggest fan of medical offices and am rather terrified of needles. Combine that attitude with an innate crankiness when I'm not feeling at all well and the result can be much less than pleasant. I see Tabitha Dugal at the office and she is what everyone looks for when visiting a doctors office. She takes her time, she's knowledgeable, and really listens to the patient, all the while maintaining compassion coupled with a great sense of humor to keep your worries at ease. This time (and all of my subsequent appointments) was a world away from previous experiences elsewhere. It was good to be treated with professionalism and care. When I say the Tabitha Dugal and all the other employees (her Medical Assistant Eunice is wonderful) made me feel that I was in safe hands and even made me smile when I left, then you can believe they are the best. I am truly grateful and won't get that awful feeling of dread the next time I get sick and have to see my doctor. I appreciated their follow-up and willingness to answer questions also. A big thank you to all of them - Tabitha Dugal is the best out there!

I have been a patient of this cardiology practice for several years and was referred to the…read moreprimary care physician in the same office by Dr Bender ( which is amazing )Unfortunately, my recent experience with the primary care side of the practice (DR LESLIE HURWITZ) has been extremely disappointing and, in my opinion, very unprofessional. I contacted the office because I needed a refill for a medication that I take daily and cannot simply stop taking. I was told that the physician would not refill my medication because of a no-show appointment from July. The issue is that I was not aware that I had a missed appointment, yet I am now being told that I cannot be seen until November. What is particularly concerning is that I am being left without access to a medication that I take on a daily basis over a scheduling issue that I was not even aware of. Rather than helping resolve the situation or providing an appropriate solution, the medical assistant actually told me that I should find another primary care doctor. After being a patient of this practice for years, I find that response incredibly disappointing. Patients should be treated with professionalism and compassion, particularly when the issue involves an ongoing medication that should not simply be discontinued. I am sharing my experience because I believe patients deserve to know how this office handles situations like this. I hope the practice will reconsider how it communicates with and treats established patients. There is a significant difference between enforcing a no-show policy and leaving a patient without necessary medication while refusing to offer a reasonable solution.

Yesterday was my first time seeing Dr. Morris on a recommendation from a friend. As a New Yorker,…read moreI'm used to a rushed 15 minute visit with a primary care physician. Not Dr. Morris! She was totally amazing. very thorough making sure she understood all of my medical needs before making suggestions. She is truly a professional, and I feel comfortable recommending her. I cannot comment on whether or not she is a good diagnostician, but I will say that I feel confident that any situations I have in the future she will handle with knowledge and compassion.

Before I became a member of Dr. Morris's practice, I was used to having an appointment but waiting at least 30-45 minutes to get in and then waiting another 15 minutes to a half hour in the exam room twiddling my thumbs before the doctor came in. Then I needed notes on what I wanted to ask questions about because as we all know if you get 10-15 minutes with your doctor you were lucky. Dr. Morris changed all of that. If you have an appointment @11am you see her @11am. I have had up to an hour and a half to discuss EVERYTHING concerning my health. Dr. Morris is a FANTASTIC listener and then she partners with you in constructing a road map for your health and wellbeing. This is truly preventive care. She cares not only about me but my family. My son was having severe pain around his lower abdomen. I called Dr. Morris and she said bring him in NOW even though he was not a member. She diagnosed him correctly and made my wife and I lifelong friends.

It's a small office and Dr. Wong is the only attending physician. They got a small office but the staff is friendly. Dr. Wong seemed nice. Because this our first visit, Dr. Wong asked a lot of questions. However, some of those questions sound weird and maybe a bit personal. When it comes to doing our blood work, they took two attempts to get the needle in me. I had blood work done by my last doctor and never had any issues. Unfortunately, my wife was not so lucky. They must have stuck needles in my wife's hands and arms in 6 different spots and still couldn't manage to draw any blood out. We ended up getting the blood work done at Quest near our house. We also had some other tests done but they never call us back with the results. A few days later I got mine back but they couldn't find my wife's. I think it's okay going to a small doctor's office, but the staff just seemed a little confused or unorganized.

And .... when it comes to doing our blood work, they took six attempts to get my blood !!! 3 assistants ( not sure if they are nurses ) must have stuck needles in my hands and arms in 6 different spots and still couldn't manage to draw any blood out.  We ended up getting the blood work done at Quest near our house. But it comes to getting our results back from our test, it was very disappointing. My husband and I did the same test at the same time, but my husband got the result back after 2 weeks and I was told they can't locate my result. After repeated call back and forth, I finally got my results back 2 additional weeks with no explanations. Can you imagine if the test was a very important test and the result could be life and death? Their back office was totally unorganized and unprofessional and for that, My husband and I will NOT be going back.

Having lived all over the country and having worked at two established academic medical…read moreinstitutions, I have a different--perhaps unique--perspective of what makes for an outstanding physician. Dr. Jason Goldman is really a unicorn. By that I mean he is one of very few physicians who has a single practice with a on-site lab. You make an appointment with him, you see him, not a PA or a wannabee doctor. Compare this approach with many other practices where you're lucky if you get 5 minutes with the actual physician. Yes, he has some very strong opinions about certain aspects of medical practice and insurance and we agree to disagree. But what sets him apart from many of his peers is a keen uptodate medical intellect and truly aggressively seeking the best outcomes for his patient. There have been numerous times where I or family member have needed to see him and are always accommodated the same day. Think that happens with most other physicians? I once thanked him for fitting me in with a same day visit. I distinctly remember his response: "You don't have to thank me; you're my patient that's what I'm here for."

He called me "ignorant" and graphically told me I was "going to die on a ventilator with fluids in my lungs." To make matters worse, he made the completely unsubstantiated and cruel claim that because I have breasts, I was "definitely going to get breast cancer." This is after he asked when my last memogram was and I told him about 3 years ago. He dismissed me as a patient in a state of pure anger. No patient should be berated, insulted, or threatened with graphic death scenarios for exercising their right to medical autonomy. His behavior was unprofessional, unethical, and deeply traumatizing. Avoid this office if you value respectful care and basic human decency.
