I suffer from back pain and at the recommendation of my primary doctor, started going to Rush PT…read more I assumed that they were part of the Rush hospital system. But after reviewing the Yelp, i now realize it is actually some company called "Novacare". For the last 2 months, I have been going here once a week. The facility is very small and cramped, the equipment is a bit bare. But the main problem is that there is only 1 or 2 actual Physical Therapists in the office at a time, while there are 3-5 patients scheduled for the same time. Each session is about 50-60 minutes long. But the actual time with the PT is really about 15 minutes (as Gina F mentioned in her review). The PT shows you the exercise movements about 2-3 times, then has you do 2-3 reps, makes some corrections, tells you to do 2-3 more sets by yourself, and then wanders off to work with another patient or to type something in the computer without really paying any attention to you. If the PT had already shown you an exercise before, she may just hand you off to a Student/Intern and have them run through the exercise with you. But again, the student also is not paying any attention to you while doing the exercise and is instead busy chatting with each other. Ultimately, my time ended when the PT said, she didn't think PT was working for me. Sometimes, I would realize later that I was doing the exercise wrong a few sessions later, when the actual PT showed it to me again. But I do admit, I didn't do my home exercises everyday, but only 3-4 days a week at home. Conclusion, - I would recommend you look for a better office that has more space so patients don't bump into each other. I would also recommend a PT office that offers One on One PT to patient services instead. I will be trying a different PT office and see if that is more helpful.

This is place a factory, with several patients going at once in the small space. I suspect the…read moreoutput of the factory is invoices, not care. The conditions I sought care for were unresolved, and I ended up with a massive bill for working 10-15 minutes with a PT and 45 minutes with a student. Fun fact: I'd been going for weeks before they realized my "plan" wasn't even in the computer. Then how were you reviewing and adjusting? My symptoms did not improve, but worsened, and after 12 visits I stopped going and doing the "exercises". It took about 2 months, but eventually the pains caused by following their care went away for the most part (resurfaces on the treadmill but at least it's no longer daily), as did one of the 2 concerns I came in for (lower back better, but tip of tailbone will probably take a while) . Over Thanksgiving I was visiting family out of state and my brother, a brilliant physical therapist, asked how my PT was going. He was surprised when I told him about the assigned exercises, which he didn't think were addressing the issue, and stunned to learn that after their care caused pain in my hips, they kept having me do exercises that exacerbated that pain and performed no adjustments. This isn't Rush caliber care. Perhaps they lack adequate experience, but I'm not prepared to pay for the learning curve. I went back to the gym and definitely avoiding this place. Just got my bill (last visit in November) and the charges are outrageous. $330-400 per visit to mostly do ineffective exercises with a student. I tried to call the billing dept and negotiate the bill down since the service was ineffective and actually did harm, but they refused. 2 stars because the people at this location are nice and probably did their best.

Nightmare Experience at Symetria Recovery:…read more January 2020 I started mental treatment at Symetria Treatment Center at Lakeview, Illinois location. First month of treatment went well. I decided to invite a friend for relationship counseling with a therapist at Symetria. Therapist asked me to sign release papers for my Friend visit. Before I signed the contract I said " PLEASE let me know everything you and my friend discuss about me and my treatment. " Therapist replied. "Of course Everything we're doing is for you. Were here for you ". I felt comfortable and signed contract. Remember this is my therapist I'm trusting. The day of therapy relationship counseling session. I met with therapist a hour before my friend arrived to confirm everything. 1:30pm Relationship counseling session starts, 3 of us in the room. Therapist, friend and I. Therapist aggressively attacked me verbally. Everything we prepared prior to the therapist didn't follow. Therapist broke their agreement to the contract. ( Betrayed me) Therapist mentioned she spoke to my friend twice via phone. ( There withholding information not telling me what the conversations were about ) I thought the therapy session was going to be positive. I was unprepared for a NEGATIVE experience. My friend and I aren't talking. I'm scared to see him in the future because it may confrontational. Are relationship is 10xs worse than before. I can't get help. Symetria discharged me without helping me find another treatment facility. I filed a grievance and the corporation is uncooperative. I've been depressed and upset for weeks. Big shout out to the receptionist & the counselor I see, & both the nurses! I don't have a bad thing to say about anyone or anything at symetria. The facility has recently undergone an extensive renovation and looks beautiful. My aunt's room is lovely. The staff are very caring and attentive to the residents which was comforting for us. They also have lots of activities for residents and specialty area to play games, watch movies, or attend mass on Sundays. The Marketing Director, James Miller, is so helpful and informative. He has a kind and gentle manner. He gave us a wonderful and thorough tour of Paul House, and fully described all their service and levels of care. Our aunt is quite happy and comfortable in her private room and in her surroundings. Overall, I recommend Paul House if you're looking for a nice, quiet residence for a senior family member in the Chicago City Limits. [Re: OLD REVIEWS: Keep in mind, my review is recent. We brought our aunt there just this year, 2024. Most of the older reviews for Paul House (before 2024) are from when Paul House was still in need of renovation and updating. It is now beautifully renovated and the facilities updated. We would not have our aunt stay here if it were not so nice.]

While looking for a good physical therapist to prepare me for surgery, the most practical advice I…read morereceived was, find someplace close, because you'll probably be going twice a week. So I looked through Yelp, and the closest places either didn't work for me, or had iffy reviews. While out limping through the neighborhood, I saw that Athletico had just opened a brand new location at Montrose and Damen, and I thought, given Athletico's generally good reputation, to give the Ravenswood location a try. That turned out to be an excellent decision. I worked with Taylor Witzki, PT, DPT, and she was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, encouraging, and fun. Totally serious about her work, which she clearly knows VERY well, and personable enough to encourage me to keep going when I really thought what she was asking me to do was beyond my capabilities. Turns out she was always right -- I could do more than I thought, and that gave me a new level of confidence. She is ably assisted by Alex, who is also encouraging and able. And Emily at reception is helpful with ironing out any scheduling issues and answering questions. I was able to set up a twice-weekly schedule worked for me. The hours do change a bit during the week -- sometimes there are early hours, sometimes there are later hours. Athletico-Ravenswood is located in a small strip mall at the NW corner of Montrose and Damen. Free parking is available in the small lot. I can't tell you how busy the lot gets, since I walked to and from my appointments, but there is a Giordano's and a new ice cream business at the strip mall, so parking might be tight at certain times. There is plenty of free street parking in the neighborhood. Paid parking is available on Montrose. I know I'll need to do physical therapy again the surgery, and I will do my darndest to work with Taylor again. Athletico-Ravenswood is not just the most convenient physical therapy clinic in the neighborhood. I'm convinced it is the best.
