Living Word is a great place to visit on Sundays (and during the week). This is a bible based…read moreorganization and the staff is very friendly and caring (and they take excellent care of you kids while you are in the service)! LWF also offers classes for men, women, families, youth and divorce support. Yes, Living Word is big enough to serve your needs and small enough to get to know you!

Alright, so where to start? I mean there's just so much that I have to say about this church,…read morecommunity, and family. First and foremost this is a Church of God, the Holy Spirit is alive and well here. The pastors preach directly out of the Bible. The theology that is spoken and shared can be traced directly back to Jesus. The best part is that there is life in this church. It is comprised of young people, families and people rich in life experiences. This shows you that the church is alive and well. If you are looking for a place to start your journey, a place to seek refuge from the storm or a place to grow you in the Word and your faith Living Word is a wonderful place to be. The vision of the church through Drew (lead pastor) and Tim (associate pastor) is to Connect, Grow and Serve. My family and I have lived in Oak Harbor for 3 years now, I come from an evangelical background rich in faith and love and so finding a church in Oak Harbor has been amazing. They have met the needs of my children (9, 7 and 3) growing them in the Word of God. They have met the needs of my wife and I, a wonderful contemporary "come as you are" style service as well as offering small groups to better feed our souls and help us grow as a couple and individuals. These small groups target different areas within life and help give you tools to better equip you for the challenges that life brings your way. Living Word also has plenty of opportunities to serve whether that's going on a mission trip, summer Bible camp or helping on a Sunday morning...there's something for everyone. Long story short, in the last three years I have entrusted this church family with my family while I deployed countless times. They were there in person and in faith. They met the spiritual needs of my family and I know they will for yours. We have made some lifelong friends here and as we near our transfer date this is a community and family that we are going to dearly miss. So I'm closing I would highly recommend this Church to anyone looking for a church.

My dad had a stroke in 2004 when I was 12 years old around Christmas time and almost died. We were still recovering from the reverberations of that and adjusting to its long-term side effects when my Grandpa died in 2006. It was a rough two years and being able to hold the funeral service at the same church my Grandpa had attended on a regular basis was a huge relief. He had been a fighter pilot in the United States Navy, then harbor master of Oak Harbor Marina, and later he was a woodcarver focusing on wild birds. One of his favorites was the Bald Eagle, an emblem of service for his time in the U.S. Navy and a bird we frequently saw on Whidbey Island. Before he died I gave him a picture I took of a Bald Eagle and a verse from the Bible, Isaiah 40:31 which mentions soaring like an eagle. My choice of Bible verse was included and read out loud as part of the funeral service, which to me as grandpa's 14-year-old granddaughter was an honor. Most of the people talking about him knew him for decades before I was even born. Watching and listening to the speakers was easy due to the architecture of the church and comfortable seating. Funerals can be difficult to execute and make everyone attending feel included. The church was big enough that we all fit and had room both for the service and to socialize after. Church workers and volunteers were friendly and helpful in set-up and take-down for the event.

I Love the warm welcome that I get whether it's the first time or the hundredth! Even with all of…read morethe Covid Protocols this community feels like home.
