I visited Brides By Young in Schaumburg on 7/26/24, excited to find my dream dress. While I didn't find the dress, I did find what I thought was the perfect wedding day bra--The One corset. After trying it on in-store and loving the fit, I decided to purchase it a few days later for $395 ($434 after tax)--the most expensive undergarment I've ever purchased! Since the store was over an hour away, I requested the same size I had tried on, knowing it fit perfectly in the store. My order was finalized on 8/2, and I made another trip back to pick it up on 8/17. I was advised to "break it in like new shoes," so I followed their instructions. Then, the nightmare began. The very first time I wore it, one side collapsed. I adjusted it, but it wouldn't stay up. I tried again after a few days, carefully bending it back into shape--still no luck. Desperate, I even tested it with my wedding dress, hoping the dress's structure would hold it up. It worked... for about 10 minutes before collapsing again, leaving me with a lopsided boob in my wedding dress! Before posting this review, I reached out to Brides By Young, hoping for a solution. They invited me back in, and I went with the hope that I had somehow been wearing it wrong. Unfortunately, I had been wearing it exactly as they had put it on me in-store. Their response? * Nasreen claimed the bra didn't work because my wedding dress didn't have enough support like their sample dresses. * When I questioned if that meant it only works with their gowns, she said no--but then contradicted herself by saying it needed more support. * She also stated that Faith had supposedly warned me that they couldn't guarantee fit with outside dresses--something that was never communicated to me. I even checked our messages, and--just as I suspected--no disclaimer was ever given. * To make matters worse, she suggested I spend even more money by having my seamstress add additional boning to the corset. After spending over $400, that was not an option! While they insisted that the sample I tried on was made from the same material as the one I received, I simply don't believe it. Now, I'm out $400+ with a completely useless bra. Brides deserve transparency, and I just want to save another bride from this frustrating, expensive mistake. If you have a larger chest, reconsider purchasing "The One" bra--because if you receive a defective one , they won't do anything to make it right. read more

I came all the way from Highland Indiana to this place to find a wedding dress because I wanted my mother to be part of the experience. And I'm so glad she was! Madison made me feel so comfortable and beautiful, something that I don't usually feel when trying on dresses. She is definitely in the right line of work! Most of the dresses were very beautiful and I love how it's for the fuller-figure brides. I found my dress and cannot wait to wear it on my wedding day! I had the absolute best experience with Brides by Young and highly recommend for any plus-size bride! I felt very nervous going into my appointment that I wouldn't find anything that fit me, wouldn't feel beautiful in any dresses, or would feel judged for my size. I quickly learned that would not be my experience at Brides By Young. My appointment started with a quick Q&A around my dress preferences, as well as how I envision my day. They also inquired about my budget, and I appreciate their discretion in pulling me away from my guests when they asked me this. After the Q&A, they pulled me several dresses as a starting place. They took me into a spacious try-on area and helped me into one of their specialty bras. After that, they helped me into each dress and made me feel super comfortable throughout the process. They did a phenomenal job clipping the dress to reflect what it will look like when its actually my size. They also did a phenomenal job helping me see the full vision, including straps that I was adding onto the dress, my veil, etc. I dress shopped in early June of 2022 and my dress was in by late November of 2022. My residence is in California, but my wedding is in Indiana (as is my family) and they were super accommodating to my schedule-- including trying to get my dress in to try on when I'm here for the holidays, as well as giving me some extra time to pick it up after it arrived so I didn't need to plan a separate trip. At the dress pickup-- I was BEAMING. Everything turned out perfectly. I felt beautiful and the associates further enforced that with their kindness, as well. I never felt like I was working with a "salesman" or that they were trying to up-sell me, which I really appreciated. All throughout the process, I mostly communicated with Kate for appointments, etc. and she was an absolute delight. She was so friendly and helpful and had a way of making me feel like I had known her for years. This anxious bride truly appreciated how comfortable she and the other associates made me! They unfortunately do not do alterations in-house, but they provided a recommendation nearby and gave me information as to what to expect in terms of timing, etc., as well as recommendations as to some areas I may want to alter. Overall-- I could not have asked for a better place to choose the most important dress I'll ever wear. So appreciative that despite my size, I had a place to find a dress and shop that made me feel beautiful and WORTHY of such a gorgeous dress. read more

I really loved my appointment at Bride by Young! I thought the lady that was helping me try on dresses was soooo nice and sweet! She made great small talk while helping me in and out of dresses and helped me with the dresses while I was looking in the mirror. I did think the selection of dresses, at least the ones being pulled for me to try on felt like they were meant for a more mature audience. Almost all the dresses felt like something my mom would have chosen for herself at her current age. I don't mean that in any disrespect, but I didn't feel young and sexy at all in the dresses. Not what I thought I would feel like when trying on dresses. I ended up not finding my dress when I went to Brides by Young. The lady told me I could come back and try on more since I had tried on dresses for four hours with no success. I was exhausted and defeated and thought taking some time to look at photos would be a good idea. I ended up calling them back about a month later and asked to schedule another try on. The lady informed me that I would have to pay $150 dollar down payment before I could reschedule another appointment. It was non-refundable, but would go towards my dress if I found one this time. So, I felt like I had to find a dress there or I would have wasted $150 dollars. They never once told me about this fee to return. They made seem like I could just come back and try on more dresses no issue. They also weren't crazy about the idea of me coming in on the weekend because they hold those spots for their new clients. It didn't matter that my first time there was during the week and I never had a weekend appointment. I felt like they weren't really in it to help me find a dress, but only wanted to make sure I bought a dress. It really rugged me wrong so I didn't return. Brides with curves and girls, GO HERE! I found out about Brides by Young by going to wedding shows and thank god I did! I have curves and when they told me I could find a dress that I didn't need a special bra for, I couldn't make my appointment any faster! I looked on their website and had taken some pictures of dresses I liked. I showed the pictures to my stylist and she pulled dresses. I tried one multiple dresses but the first dress she pulled ended up being the one I fell in love with! And guess what, with the magic of Studio Levana's design, I didn't have to wear a bra! I absolutely love my dress and it was so comfortable all day long for my wedding! The only downside of this deal is that you can't go to Brides by Young more often to try on dresses! If I could, I would be in there all the time trying on new dresses. I think the store will be carrying evening gowns eventually as well so be on the look out for that! read more

I set up an appointment here not realizing it was size 14 and up. Once I got there and spoke with the sales women I found out they could get smaller sizes, it was no problem. I will say I went in not expecting anything because I had gone to David's bridal and the experience was so awful I was kind of discouraged, but Brides By Young made the whole process so fun. The sales woman listened to what I wanted and by either the 3rd or 4th dress I found the one!! They have a great selection and the shop itself is so cute and spacious. There's a nice seating area for family and friends who are there with you. They also have an adorable decorated wall and props you can use to take photos! I was a little worried because I was told my dress would come in sometime in August and my wedding is In October. They weren't able to give me an exact date. But literally as soon as August 1st came around I got a call saying my dress was in! It was fantastic and no stress. They don't do alterations here, but they parent with Dan's Alterations. You have to make a separate appointment and take it there yourself, they don't come to you at Brides to do it. read more

It was amazing to be in a dress shop where I could try everything on, AND where dresses fell within a reasonable price range. This past Sunday we went to Brides by Young. We arrived a bit early, they were very polite and had us wait. We weee then taken to a huge area for trying on and such. The clients before her had made their decision and left, so Hayley moved us to the bigger area. She took my granddaughter around to look at dresses and then she pulled several from the back. She put the first one on and cam out to show us. She was glowing. The others were gonna have to prove they were better. She tried on several dresses but the first one was THE dress. Hayley informed her it was on sale 30% off. She said YES TO THE DRESS" The dress was purchased and wrapped up all nice and secure. The way my Granddaughter was treated was like night and day. She did spend a little more the originally intended but she thought she might. I can't wait to watch her walk down the aisle in that dress and take his breath away. This girl goes to school full time and works a full time job and has made the Deans list. She deserves to have a great wedding. She said she feels like a Princess in the dress. I was told twice to cancel my appointment at Brides by Young because "they wouldn't have my size." (I'm anywhere from a 6 to a 10). Total lies! I found out many dresses come in any size you need, and whatever size you are, you will find one there for you. Because I had been encouraged to cancel my appointment (actually tried to at one point) I was nervous about going here. However, among all the places I had been Kate seemed to get brides the best. She was the sweetest and most patient woman ever. She got a feel of my style, likes, and vision for my wedding pretty quickly, and let us go back to dresses as many times as we needed. The selection was the best I had seen in two different cities. I found my dress here! And I am so excited for my wedding day because of this store. read more

My best friend bought her wedding gown from them and they purposely ordered the wrong size (a size down) and then refused to give her a refund or a credit to get a dress that actually fits. I can't understand how they can do this to a bride. They should be ashamed of themselves. So now she has to find money to buy another dress that actually fits her. Shop elsewhere. From the moment walking in, it was clear this a store forgotten about. This was far from the romantic dress shop in almost every wedding romcom imaginable. The decor was stuck in reds, blacks, distressed metals of the 00s with harsh florescent lighting, lumpy couches, office chairs, and worn out industrial carpet. The desk meeting guests at the door was spilling with clutter and set the tone for our visit. The dresses, while beautiful, were packed in racks with very few on display. The accessories were hidden in nooks throughout the store haphazardly. It was difficult to focus on the bride while feeling like the store was bursting at the seams. The employee working with us was kind during our intake but quickly became obsessed with the fact that we had visited another bridal store and found a potential dress. They asked about details of the dress and wanted to see pictures of the bride in the dress, which all seemed reasonable, until they began to critique how the bride looked in the dress. They pulled a few dresses and then proceeded to either keep the bride away from us or be next to the bride when with us almost as if to keep us from talking. With each dress tried on they asked how did this dress compare to the other and was this dress better than the other dress yet? We had one tiny moment (seconds) without the employee to quickly ask the bride how she was feeling. I'm sure they knew the bride had not found the dress but instead of regrouping or asking more questions they returned to critiquing the bride in the dress found at the other store. We left after an hour and being told in no uncircumstance that this was "the" store for curvy girls in a way that seemed to to mean no other store could hold a candle to this place. If you are not into having the full bridal experience when choosing a (slightly overpriced) dress I am sure you will find a beautiful dress. If you want the full experience, I would encourage you to visit other stores. read more

I will say that I was not very optimistic about shopping for a wedding dress. I just don't see the point in stressing over something I'm going to wear once. But Lauren and the staff at Brides by Young were amazing to work with. I told Lauren how I felt about this trip and she made it as painless as possible! She started out with a brief sit-down to get to know me and what I was looking for in my dress. She pulled 3 looks that were exactly what I was looking for and an additional look that I would never have picked, but loved. The stress of sizing was not an issue because the store caters to curvy brides. I found my dress in 45 minutes and Lauren even took pics of me and my crazy crew. She even called and canceled the appointment I had at another shop! Customer service since then has been awesome. They have sent emails to update me on when my dress will arrive. I was blown away by how wonderful my experience at this store was. In all honesty, I was not looking forward to this appointment - not just at Brides by Young, but at any store - I wasn't looking forward to trying on wedding dresses. I'm a big girl, and I didn't want to feel like garbage with the person who had to help me get dressed, I didn't want to deal with not fitting into any dresses, and I didn't want to feel like I was going to be a big, ugly bride in an ugly wedding dress that I was forced into because it was the only one that would fit on me. None of that sounded appealing to me. I went to the appointment, though. Brides by Young was the first of two appointments I had scheduled in the same day, and I'm so glad that they were first. I sat down with my mom, MIL, and a bridesmaid and chatted with Lauren. She asked what kind of dresses I was looking for, and I asked if I could show her my pinterest board just as an idea. Not only was she excited to look through the board, but she told me she actually had a lot of the dresses on there. She went and grabbed about 5 and put them in the fitting room, and then came and got me. The first step was shapewear, which I immediately was freaked out by -- again, I'm a big girl, I hate the idea of someone having to be that close to my back fat, but Lauren chatted with me about my wedding, asked me about my fiance, etc., to the point where it honestly felt like she could care less that she had to deal with my back fat and she was actually just excited to help me find a dress. 0 discomfort. time for dresses! I tried on 4-5 dresses, and every time I tried one on, I liked it more than the last one. Lauren really knew what she was doing when she picked the order. Each one I liked more and more until I put on the last one and I knew it was the one. And fitting wasn't an issue! Some where my size, some were too small, but she was able to clip them and add a little modesty cloth to cover my undies from view while I went out to the platform. I really didn't think I would have a "the one" moment with a dress- again, I wasn't even really looking forward to this appointment all that much, I figured my response would be the same as whenever I could find a shirt that actually fit or something, a "yeah, that one I won't have to tug down all day. Nice color. I'll get it." But no, this was the one, and she could tell from the moment she zipped it up that it was the one I was going to pick. And it was in my size! When she lead me out to my group, she kind of gave them a heads up that this was my favorite (to keep any of them from telling me they hated it, probably). Since I liked it so much, she put a belt on, and had me close my eyes while she put a veil on me and handed me a bouquet and when I opened my eyes I just started crying. So, I said yes to that dress for sure. The ONLY downsides with this whole experience are: * for some reason, we all assumed that there would be something to drink while we were there -- I'm not sure if this is actually a common practice with dress shops, or if movies/tv have lead us to believe it would be, but either way: just don't expect coffee or mimosas or anything lol * Lauren and I chatted about cost and the dress came in right at my budget, which was great, but that belt and veil really jacked up the price -- those belts are EXPENSIVE. I mean, not at just Brides by Young, but anywhere. So, if you are like me and had no idea what you were doing, just know that if you want that belt, you need to add $500+ to your budget. All in all, I ended up cancelling my second appointment and have shown literally every person I talk to a picture of me in my wedding dress because I love it so much and loved how pretty I felt while wearing it. read more

I was incredibly nervous to try on gowns but my experience at Brides by Young put me completely at ease! Lauren was so helpful and made me feel comfortable and supported while going through the sizing and trying on experience. It turned out that the gown I had spied from one of their designers that was completely different that what I envisioned and had in mind was truly the dress of my dreams! It was the first tried on and all that followed couldn't hold a candle! My mom, sister, and I were all crying tears of excitement and Lauren gave us the time to relish in the experience. After drying tears and putting street clothes back on, Lauren was extremely detailed making sure I understood every step of the ordering process and that my notes included the timing recommendations for alteration appointments at Yung's Alterations. Now it is the waiting game after ordering my dress and anxiously awaiting its arrival while continuing to plan the wedding to the love of my life! We had a very similar body shape so she knew exactly what I wanted. As a curvy gal, there were things that I wanted to cover and she showed me dresses that covered my arms! My visit started out great! Everyone was so nice and we felt like they were genuinely happy we were there. I was given a few dresses to try on. I wasnt given a bunch and when one didn't work, there weren't really any others brought in. I really liked one, my grandmother loved it and so I decided it was the one for me. I paid for the dress in full and waited. The more I waited the more I realized this was not the dress for me. When the store called to tell me my dress was in, I said "what if I don't like it". You could tell the person was taken a back but she said "why would you say that? I'm sure once you put it back on you will fall back in love with it." I again questioned, "but what if I dont". She said "well, we will cross that bridge when we get there." I went to pick up the dress, put it on and realized I HATED it. Again, i said i didn't like it. I was told to go to my alteration appointment and they would do whatever I needed them to do. So, I went to my alterations appointment and realized that I still HATED my dress. I decided not to have the alterations done and called brides by young to see what could be done. NOTHING, absolutely nothing could be done. They would not exchange my dress or let me return it. So, now I am stuck with a $1300 dress that i will NEVER wear and have no idea what to do with it. So, I would not recommend this place unless you 100% sure you love your dress. Like go home, look at the pics and make a decision. I am so heart broken that I spent that much money and well, am now out that money. The proverbial bridge we would cross was never crossed and I cannot help but have a little bit of resentment. read more

Brides by Young was the shining light in the entirety of dress shopping experiences! Seriously, cancel any other appointments and make the drive to be here. Kate, the store manager, was my stylist for the appointment and she was above and beyond in everything she did. There was absolutely no waiting when I arrived. I filled out a few short questions and then she was quickly with us. She took the time to sit down and go through my wedding day with me and she made sure that she stuck to the budget that I wanted to stay within. She assured me that my budget could definitely get me the dress of my dreams. She immediately went back and picked 4-5 dresses for me that fit all my expectations. The first dress that I picked out, just so happened to be my dress I said yes to. Kate was completely honest and let me know her honest opinion with each dress I tried on. She made it feel the most comfortable inside the dressing room compared to all my other appointments. She gave me a long bra to use, and she helped me put on all the dresses. The best part about trying on dresses here is that you don't feel like you're squeezing your body into it. There are plenty of dresses, in sizes for every type of girl. When I finally found the dress, Kate took the time to ask me how I was going to wear my hair and pinned it up for me so I could imagine the real day. Upon coming out to the "stage"- she paired me with some really pretty earrings, a veil, and a faux bouquet. I closed my eyes- opened them and suddenly it became so real. After having two appointments before this one, I really wish I would have came here first. There is truly no other shop as caring, understanding, and laid-back/comfortable as this one. After two less than stellar experiences at two big shops, needless to say, as a plus-sized bride I was not enthused about having to still look for a dress. On top of that, based on the interior style of the shop, I was afraid the dresses would be way outside of my budget. But I was pleasantly surprised! Our consultant, Lauren, took her time getting to know me as the bride and helped me envision my entire day! She was cordial, fun, professional, and a complete joy to work with. She took all the stress out of being a plus-sized bride and made me completely confident with my choice. She even found me a dress that was very similar and definitely better than a more expensive one at the shop I previously went to where I was pressured into buying a dress that same day. After reading all of the terrible reviews for bridal shops in and around Chicago for plus size brides, I knew I had to visit Brides by Young. I called on a Sunday to see if they had any openings for the following Saturday, and was so happy they were able to fit me in. Lauren was friendly and knowledgeable, and took the time to learn about our wedding and what I wanted. She picked the most beautiful dresses for me to try, and also let me look and pick out some. I loved so many of the dresses that I tried, it was hard to choose! Lauren was able to basically read my mind, answering any questions I had before I could even say them out loud. Thanks to Lauren's guidance and expertise, I found a beautiful dress for my wedding. The price was even below my budget! I also ordered a gorgeous veil and shape-wear. Was told it will take 6-7 months for the dress to come in, so make sure you go early. I can't wait to get it! read more

I drove 3 hours from the Chicagoland area to visit Brides by Young. I did my research to find great bridal boutiques for plus size women (i'm a street size 14/16) and emailed a few places to ask about the particular style of dress I am looking for. They responded stating that they had the largest selection of the style I was looking for, but it was the warmth and enthusiasm in the response that made me go to them. In reality, I COULD have gone to the Schaumburg Illinois location (less than an hour from me), and I'm sure I would have been happy, but I'm glad I went here! Kate was my stylist and she was incredible. She took one look at my pinterest photos and started pulling dresses. I saw the first dress she grabbed - that was it! She totally understood my style. I insisted that be the first dress I try on, and it was instant love. She and my mom convinced me to try 5 more dresses. There was one other one in that group that may have been a runner up, but I couldn't get the first dress out of my mind. I knew. So Kate put me back in the dress, styled me to perfection with a veil, hair accessory and belt and I was done! To put it simply, it was the easiest, most pleasant experience ever- when as most plus size ladies know, it could have been disappointing and discouraging. The communication before delivery of my dress was great. I ordered it 4 1/2 months before the wedding, so I wanted to stay on top of delivery. I just picked up my dress last week and Kate was there to help me try it on and make sure I was happy. Kate was just as lovely on this day as she was when she was trying to sell me a dress, which validates what a great person she is. She made the experience fun and gave me a deal on some wedding earrings. Just today, Lauren gave me a great deal on the hair piece that I couldn't stop thinking about. She even offered to bring my belt and hair piece out to the Schaumburg location next weekend when she drives out for an event, saving me the $25 in shipping. I'm SO thrilled with my experience at Brides by Young. Kate and Lauren are incredible people who provide excellent customer service and care. I was able to go during a sample sale and they made me feel so welcome, were really understanding and accepting of my budget, and asked all the right questions about what kind of dresses I was interested in. Lauren convinced me to try one on that was a style I liked but not the color I thought I wanted. I was skeptical and the second it was on I knew it was the perfect dress for me! They were just the right amount of encouraging regarding buying accessories (e.g. veil, headpiece; not overly pushy) and I ended up buying a beautiful headpiece from them as well. I drove all the way from Michigan to go to this place and I couldn't have been happier with my experience!! The shop itself was super cute with an upscale, industrial vibe. There was more then enough room for my 3 guests and our "area" was adorable. I couldn't wait to start trying on dresses! My consultant, Lauren was incredible and made me feel so special and comfortable. She asked about my wedding, my man, and what I wanted in a gown. She picked what I suggested and ended up pulling a dress that I never would have picked myself. I ended up having "that moment" in the gown she chose and seeing her excitement made my excitement even more special. To give context to my review, picking my wedding dress was the very last thing I wanted to do in planning my wedding and something I thoroughly dreaded before walking into Brides By Young (I think I may have actually mentioned it when I made the appointment but the wonderfully cheerful receptionist just reassured me that it would be fantastic and I would feel beautiful). She could not have been more right. I was exceptionally pleased with the services I received on three separate occasions at BBY. The staff were consistently warm, welcoming, patient, and kind. They helped me to choose a dress that is not only beautiful in itself but makes me feel beautiful, and they went out of their way to be accommodating. As an example, I'm an out of state bride and my dress came in 3 months ahead of schedule when I just happened to be in town for my birthday; they were fully booked but stayed late to make sure I was able to try on and pick up my dress before heading back to Tennessee and even had suggestions on how to find the best person for alterations in my area. I tried on dresses at only one other store where the experience was so horrendously awful that I literally begged a bridesmaid I brought with me to help me escape so we could go back to BBY. I've never been to a more body positive store or had a more thoroughly enjoyable customer service experience. If you're at all nervous about picking your dress, do yourself a favor and give them a call. Everything about my experience at Brides by Young was amazing. I was very scared to go try on dresses as I'm a bigger girl and had heard some bad stories online. However, my appointment was anything but! I loved working with Lauren and Allie and everyone else at the shop was always so nice. Wow. I was so nervous going in to this, not knowing how a plus size bridal shop would be. I typically wear about a size 12 or 14 but I have a large bust line, so I was dreading going dress shopping. What a God send this place is! I worked with Lauren and she was amazing. Totally put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. I didn't even know what my vision was for the dress (another worry) but she helped me find exactly what I was looking for in only 5 dresses! She helped me feel like a beautiful bride and I would recommend this store to anyone! Being a plus size woman I have been dreading going wedding dress shopping. I went to Brides by Young this past Saturday and had the most amazing experience. Everyone was so nice and friendly, I felt so comfortable! Lauren was my stylist and she was so nice, relatable, and sweet! I felt like I was trying on clothes with a good friend! Their options are incredible and every dress I tried on made me feel beautiful. I thought finding a dress would be so hard and I would never find anything even close to what I wanted. Well, I found my dream dress! It was the first dress I tried on! I couldn't even believe it. She nailed my style and personality perfectly. I went here after multiple poor experiences at other bridal shops. I have been searching for the perfect dress and a must of mine is that it had sleeves due to my insecurity of my arms. I was not able to find but one or two dresses in other stores with sleeves. Immediately upon entering BBY, I was greeted and sat down to discuss not only my dream dress but my vision for the wedding. Then, I was presented with 4-5 dresses that not only had sleeves but met my other "dream" criteria. I ended up finding my perfect dress that day and was surprised to discover I received a discount for buying on the first visit. I had a great experience at Brides by Young and I am so grateful to have a larger-size dress shop in Indy. Working with Lauren, the manager, I was able to try on most of the dresses in the store that I wanted and a variety of jewelry. They were even able to custom create my dress from their house line (different bottom on the sample bodice), not unlike what you see on "those" TV shows! Couple of helpful things to know: -The store itself is upstairs on the second level. There's signs. And an elevator. -They take walk-ins but get busy on Saturdays. I made my appointment on a Friday afternoon and we basically had the store to ourselves. -It does take several months to get the dress made; I shopped in January and my dress won't be done until September. -They don't do alterations in house but have a recommended shop nearby on 82nd.
