    The lake

Just a very private and beautiful venue, feels like a secret garden all around! The lake is so gorgeous and surrounded by so much natural beauty that can only be found in Pacific Northwest! A true gem!

Bridal Veil Lakes is a little man-made lake area up the hill from Bridal Veil out in the scenic Columbia River Gorge. Up a mostly one-lane dirt road from the Historic Columbia River Highway lies a beautifully crafted and landscaped area with a nice little lake surrounded by manicured grounds, tall trees, some outdoor covered pavilions, and a plethora of picturesque spots. I had the good fortune to attend a wedding at this spot, and I'm not sure if Disney with all it's plastic and paint could have crafted a more perfectly magical spot. A little ceremony spot sits on one side of the lake, backed by a hillside and the light sounds of a rush of water. On grass and surrounded by trees, the setting is a verdant green. Behind the bride and groom sits the reflective lake rimmed with reeds and wildflowers, with trees, some small quaint looking pavilions and the gorge beyond. Butterflies were flitting through the air around the guests (no, they didn't cart 'em in... they're just there naturally). Across the lake stand the covered gazebos and a canopy of trees under which tables, dance floors and buffets can be set up. The pea gravel under foot on the pavilion side is pretty annoying, but it's better than dust or mud, so I guess I can't complain. The lake allows for all sorts of fun activities during the reception. A host of canoes are available for some romantic paddling around (or possibly drunken races) and a walk to the NW side of the lake rim affords a beautiful view of sunset behind the scenic gorge. Bathroom facilities are adequate, there is hidden space to prepare food, and enough of all the right utilities to make everything happen smoothly. Overall, an incredibly picturesque place to get married and attend a wedding. Every which way you turn you see green and beauty. The way the manicured lawns and carefully sculpted lake blend in with the thick native undergrowth and trees makes it seem like this place was meant to be exactly in this spot, exactly how it is. Not knowing how much it costs (I was just a guest), I think I can properly call it a true hidden gem. I'm sure it can't be cheap to hold a ceremony here, but the beautiful serene outdoor setting is something that you really can't even put a price on.

I got married at Bridal Veil Lakes recently and it was beautiful. We saved so much time & money on decorations by keeping things simple and just letting the beauty of the setting shine through. As far as what you get for the price, it's a great deal. Most of the places that we looked at, during our search for the perfect wedding spot, wanted way too much for way too little. (Like a couple thousand for 4 hours in the garden and then you have to be out. Or you have to use the alcohol and catering provided by that venue and pay their catering prices, small guest limits, things like that. ) Bridal Veil Lakes, on the other hand, is specifically for weddings. There isn't a hotel on-site or a caterer, which worked out perfectly for our wedding needs. They let you have the area for the whole wedding day from 9am to midnight. You get to do whatever you want, as far as catering, alcohol, number of guests(I think their limit is around 300 guests, or something, we didn't have nearly that many, so I'm not sure). The site includes a huge grill, a big fridge and separate (equally large) freezer, covered patio areas, and gorgeous surroundings. The Bridal Veil staff member gives you all the info about the technical stuff when you go on the scheduled tour with them. Anyway, it was really beautiful, the Bridal Veil staff(it's a family owned and operated business) are very nice and helpful and super easy to deal with. I have no complaints about anything. I have to give this one the ever elusive five star rating. If you are getting married, and you're THINKING about Bridal Veil Lakes as your venue, GO THERE, take the tour, and you'll be sold. Believe me! (Disclaimer: I have to say, I haven't been there during the winter, but it's the gorge, it's beautiful all year round, right?) This venue books out early, so you have to hurry if you want a wedding during a high wedding month.

We had a quick cocktail hour there overlooking the gorge, and the view is positively breathtaking.

One stressed out wanna be chef (Me) on the mountain needed a bit of help with a Thanksgiving feast for Kings. Busy Bee Catering swooped in and saved the day with their "Sides-Giving" offerings fit for royalty! Their fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy were divine. Their chicken apple sausage stuffing was a show stopper, as was the relish tray (as big as a trough for my goats), roasted vegetables and Fall harvest salad topped with sinfully delicious candied pecans. I feel like getting married again so Busy Bee Catering can handle the food. Thank you so much! You'll be seeing me and my hungry tummy again SOON!

They were amazing to work with and so calm and wise to keep this MOTG relaxed to enjoy the events. The quotes were more reasonable than others and food/flavor/freshness/presentation not compromised. I had wanted our son to go with the PDX caterer and Jan & Dani were definitely the best choice. You can't go wrong with them. We also used them at Alpine Events for our rehersal dinner with 52 people and the dinner was fabulous and the event space so lovely and personal for our gathering. Jan & Dani even decorated with the runners/candles/banner and flowers that we dropped off while at the rehersal. I can't say enough about them! Janey

I attended an event today where PNW was present, and my experience was completely ruined by one of…read moretheir staff members, BLANCA. What I witnessed was shocking and unacceptable -- she yanked a toddler by the arm simply because he grabbed some sand. The child was visibly terrified. If sand is too messy for staff to handle, it should not be provided for kids to play with, but under no circumstance is physically grabbing a child appropriate. Later, Blanca yelled at my own child for "drawing on the table," even though the table was already covered with orange crayon when we arrived and my child was using a blue marker with the cap still on. I explained this to her, but she continued to act harshly toward my child. This level of unprofessional behavior is extremely concerning for anyone working around children. I strongly urge PNW to review this incident, provide proper training for their staff, and reconsider who they have supervising children's activities. Families should feel safe bringing their kids to events like this but today, we did not!!! Please let me know who I can talk to about a formal complaint as grabbing children that are not yours is not ok!!!
