What a wonderful lady Josie is an asset and beyond.

So today I had to return something at LaSalle location. I was treated with exceptional customer centric attitude by the Operations manager Mike Armanious. He resolved the issue which in some places would have been a different outcome. I then proceeded to purchase additional required items for my new condo. As well as another shout out to Josie the my new favorite sales agent and Cathy the office administration lady!! Thanks folks I shall return.

I purchase a sofa (100523COFRB), in september 2022 and I contacted Brick to have the cushion covers replaced since they are all worn (few months after I bought it), I only leave with my wife and we just casualy seat on it but all the time I contacted Brick I had a very crappy service and I really regret having done business with Brick... The answer I got from them was since I did not have purchase the warranty I could not be helped, even though I did not want it for free but wanted to purchase it either from them or somewhere else. I at least needed the minimum support or even recommendations; No support at all, all matters to them was to sell and do not care about customers afterward. I'll make sure that people are aware Bricks crappy service of it all over internet because that is not acceptable!!!!!!

Although it has up-scaled a great deal, going from an average neighborhood hardware, to upscale specialty paint/hardware/housewares and gifts it still has the same neighborhood feel and even some of the same staff. Wilder, who works behind the paint counter in the basement, where most of the "serious" hardware is located, has been there ever since I can remember, and always provides one of the best customer service experiences available. He knows his stuff, and is always happy to help. Upstairs, where the gifts and housewares are found, is home to what I can only describe as *the* best selection of gifts for hard to shop for hipsters and grandparents ever... It has to be seen to be believed. If your looking for some unique gifts, specialty hardware, or are just tired of the so-so service at other big box hardwares, try Hogg out...

Anyway it seems Montreal doesn't have a lot of places that sells that but saw online that Hogg hardware does since it's part of the Home Hardware group. Went in, ordered it, got a call 2 days later to pick and it wasn't expensive at all. The guys are also really nice but while I was waiting around I saw a ton of cool stuff for the home including soy candles, funky door handles and coat hooks, and stuff you'll never see at Home Depot. I used to buy soy candles at Winners (since soy doesn't produce soot and burns cleanly), but increasingly they don't carry them anymore and instead have "hand-poured" candles ( what the hell is that supposed to mean if it doesn't change the fact that it produces soot?) but now at least I can get some here at a reasonable price. There's a reason why it's located in Westmount and also Nun's Island, it's definitely more bourgeoisie and less blue-collar.

It's well worth a visit.

If you like finding one-of-a-kind furniture or decorative pieces, statement pieces or antiques…read morewhich might have some interesting story attached to it, then you owe yourself a visit to Shivam Imports. Located in the ground floor of a warehouse straddling the very top of De l'Eglise Avenue, St. Patrick, the Lachine Canal and underneath the highway, I would never have even guessed or known about this place if it wasn't for the fact that my brother recently bought a beautiful, hand-carved wooden table here from Rajasthan, India - the kind you see in decorative magazines, high end lofts and spas or super posh furniture stores only you're too scared to look at the prices there. Here, you can look at them all you want and you'll be floored at the bargains you'll find, no joke. Shivam Imports is normally a wholesaler but they do sell to individuals and the prices are more than reasonable for the sorts of pieces in their showroom, but you need to make an appointment to visit their showroom (at the moment). So despite the appointments and out-of the way location, it is well worth your while to stop in and have a good look. You won't regret it. First off, this ain't no IKEA. You'll find hand-carved teak tables, antique mirrors, crazy pillars which look like the belong in a palace of some Maharajah, antique finished cabinets, candle-holders, unique pieces like wooden headboards. Stuff no one you know will ever have because everything here is so individual and unique. If you're like me and don't like generic anything, love old-fashioned quality then you'll just love it here. Andrew the owner is a really chill, easy-going guy and often buys pieces directly in India and makes trips several times a year there. If you're thinking of re-decorating, need some ideas or inspiration or looking for that one unique mirror to place in your room or a conversation-piece coffee table, look no further.
