First of all, maybe earlier raters aren't into bourbon. This is likely the best bourbon bar that I have ever been to outside of the US and better than only a couple in the southeast US. The food was very very good to outstanding in my view and the wings are off the hook. I don't normally trust the saucing so order wings plain with a sauce on the side to really get to know the wings. This turned out to be a great move as they knock it out of the park on the wings. They were so good I had them three times in four days. Be sure to try them, pretzels, burgers and sandwiches, especially the chicken and pastrami are fantastic. Jump in there. It's open until 1 am!

Even after we motioned to her. Even after my husband walked to the bar and asked if we could order. She kept telling us she would come over, but kept us waiting 20 minutes. I was starving and my blood sugar was starting to drop. Other waitstaff arrived and saw us, but no one came over to take our order. They just stood around. We finally ordered bruschetta, flammkuchen, and a burger. The bruschetta was perfect!! So good! But the flammkuchen smelled so badly that I couldn't eat it. I had to go to the bar to order another bruschetta and return the flammkuchen. The burger wasn't bad. Just unremarkable. The whole dinner took over an hour in an almost empty restaurant. I won't ever eat there again, no matter how delicious the bruschetta was.

In fact, if you are a geek, and you are in Cologne then this is a bar that you should check out. I knew about it, but didn't actually know where it was, that is until I was wandering through the back alleys of the old city and discovered it. Okay, it isn't hugely geeky, it just has a heap of pictures of Einstein covering the wall, but it's still pretty cool.

For the first time ever I have walked into a bar in Germany and they had run out of beer. I mean come on, how is that even possible in Beer nation ? Mixed drinks like JD & Coke were minimum €7.50 and above and the bar was also pretty empty when we got there with Rock music from the 90's playing loud. The waitress was lovely and friendly but the guy at the bar seemed a bit grumpy and not interested in serving us. I may come back here again another time and see. It's saving grace is the opening times. 2 am during the week and upto 5am on weekends.

We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 9:15pm) and it was busy. There was a private event upstairs so the inside was packed. Luckily, we were able to snag a table outside beside the heaters. Nice touch with the blankets for you to use if you get cold. Only downside is lots of chain smokers but that's at most bars. There were a couple menus but we only were here for beers (€2,50 to €5,80 range). - Tannenzäpfle (€2,50 for 0,33L) - 2x Eifeler landbier (€2,50 for 0,30L) - 2x Bolten alt (€2,50 for 0,30L) Chill, laid back spot to grab a few beers with friends.

Located (as the name suggests) right near the Dom, Domkeller offers good beer (German, Belgian as well as others) in a cozy atmosphere. For me, Domkeller embodies what a bar should be--a relaxed place where you can share a drink with friends and listen to good music (at just the right level) or have a good conversation. The music played here is fantastic and is an amazing mix that just about everyone will enjoy. They also regularly have concerts--I'm sure this place gets packed for those! Although a bit pricey (our bill came to around 12 with 2 beers and a snack) I think it's a nice enough place to enjoy a drink (skip the snack).
