We love the Brick and Spoon and it's our place to go for weekend brunch. Service is good and we always enjoy our food. They have some of the best grits around! They're a bit different since they are stone ground and have corn in them, but I've brought other people and they all rave about the grits too. I like getting the breakfast tacos which are super tasty and different. I'm not really an egg or omelet person but they still have plenty of things for me to eat and they have good lunch items too, like the burger. Took the family here for breakfast. It was very filling they had very generous portions. The menu was very unique and kind of fun to choose different items. Today was my first time visiting brick & spoon. The wait was short and the service was good. I ordered a pink cranberry mimosa, French toast with bacon, with a side of scrambled eggs and cheese grits. Now I really enjoyed my French toast, the bacon was okay I just didn't like the really bold smoked taste of it. It tasted as if I came off a barbecue grill. The cheese grits and corn in them and I didn't like that at all, I think I should've been given a option to have the corn grits or not. The staff was very friendly. My wife's omelette was excellent. I ordered eggs Benedict, there was very little hollandaise sauce, and the eggs (which were supposed to be cooked poached) were cooked with the yolk hard. I would have asked for it to be recooked but the waitress didn't come back to the table until my wife was almost finished. I pointed it out to the server, but she didn't adjust the check. We like to go for their brunch during the week, highly not recommend to go Saturday or Sunday, unless you don't mind waiting. Our favors are pancake, egg benedict and banana foster. Absolutely love the breakfast menu, appetizers and burgers. I order delivery a lot because I had a bad fall recently and I'm trying to let me leg heal, so I've explored a lot of restaurants online that have a delivery service. I've been very disappointed in most experiences. However, the Brick and Spoon is consistently wonderful and the food has been better than advertised. The delivery is very fast and the food arrives hot and delicious. I think their cheese burger with the pecan smoked bacon is the best burger I've ever eaten. Plus they know how to cook bacon. Most places send out tough or under cooked bacon that is mostly the white fat part which is unappealing visually and taste wise. My only complaint is that I wish Brick and Spoon would extend their hours to give me more time to experience their wonderful food. read more

Spent $8 for two prepackaged pancakes microwaved into shoe leather. Decor was plain but functional. Servers were okay. They should ditch the packaged products and cook. Stopped by on a weekday as we were passing through Mobile. Brick and Spoon is at the far right end of a strip mall. Nice, friendly service. Great coffee and good food. The pancakes are huge - my husband ordered two but could only finish the one. I had one of the six the eggs benedict on the menu which was very good, especially the homemade hollandaise sauce. The decor is upscale modern, nice to look at but sound vibrated off all the hard surfaces, so the noise level was a bit higher than I like for early in the day. read more

Decided to give BnS one more shot. Our first experience lack luster but seeing as we'd come within a week or two of their opening we thought maybe they'd just not hit their groove. Well they haven't found that groove yet. We were the second customers of the day and we were met with an oh so friendly waitress that clearly would have rather been anywhere else. (Jennifer I believe was her name) As we were seated my wife had to grab a napkin and scrub some leftover food off her chair because before we got a chance to say anything our waitress had tossed down our menus and walked away. From there we ordered, my wife getting the S.B.C Omelet and I ordering the Trucker's Breakfast. When our meals arrived we were immediately struck by the odd look of the omelet. Basically it appeared to be overcooked scrambled eggs mushed together with some cheese in the middle, my eggs (though joined by the whites) were cooked drastically different as one had a solid broken yellow yolk with runny whites and the other was actually cooked a proper over easy. And when I attempted to cut into my powder sugar coated pancake I was met with enough resistance that I began having to saw through it with my butter knife, finally giving up and just tearing a piece off the incredibly overcooked pancake. Honestly I'd have complained but the attitude of the waitress gave one pause as she gave the impression of either at best not caring to at worst adding a little something extra to your food for her troubles. read more

In the grand scheme, it was good but not worth the $33.00 (tip included) it cost for one. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab Benedict ($17), One Pancake ($6) and Coffee ($2.50). The coffee was serviceable and inoffensive. The Benedict was actually quite good - the eggs were poached beautifully and underling biscuit was very good. The pancake - large though it may have been - was just plain bad. Rather than light and fluffy, it was incredibly rubbery to the point that I took a few bites and decided it wasn't worth the cardio to burn it off. I would have given one of the gorgeous Bloody Mary's a shot but I just couldn't justify a near $50 breakfast for on in a strip mall. Worth one trip at best in my book as the prices are unjustifiably high for breakfast/brunch in a tidy but unremarkable establishment. read more

This place is just okay. I've been here 3 times and have tried the shrimp/tasso mac n cheese, shrimp and grits, one of their benedicts, and the banana foster french toast. I was only a fan of the banana foster french toast and found everything else underwhelming (and thats coming from someone who prefers a savory meal). The service was nothing to write home about either. Unless invited to another brunch get together here, I will not be returning. I loved the Egg Benedict with chicken and biscuits. The chicken was juicy and the biscuits were crispy. It was just a great combination.

While visiting Mobile for Mardi Gras we decided to stop by Brick and Spoon for brunch. The wait was about 30 minutes which we expected since it was Fat Tuesday. While waiting I noticed a sign on the wall that said if you check in on FB, you would receive 1 free order of beignets. They were delicious and were accompanied by a sweet strawberry sauce. I ordered a mango mimosa and the crab cakes. The crab cakes came with grit cakes and asparagus. I really enjoyed everything and the service was A1. I would recommend this restaurant and I look forward to returning when back in the area. read more
