From out of town and stopped in for dinner. Didn't have reservations but they were able to squeeze us in at the bar. We ordered the mushroom cobbler and it did not disappoint! It was delicious and seasoned perfectly. So much mushroom in one bite! Wish it was bigger! We then moved onto the mushroom pizza (mushroom themed new night apparently lol) and oh so good! I think anything that comes out of that wood stove is gold! We also tried the cauliflower risotto and got the fig bread pudding for dessert, both of which were damn delicious. The best dining experience I've had in Eureka so far! It's a small, intimate dining experience. Our server was great, the food came out promptly. I had the oysters, and grilled Cesar salad to start with then the polenta lasagna. The oysters were so good!!! Wish we had gotten more than a half dozen. Everything is so fresh and "good for you" at Brick & Fire. It's been my favorite eatery for a few years. Great service, varied menu selection and besides the wood fired pizza, Kobe beef, varied bread basket and great wine selection, the mushroom cobbler is so delicious - I highly recommend it. We went by to have a late lunch. It was open and serving food. We asked for outdoor seating and asked if we could just eat on the bench. The server told us they could not serve on the bench but if we returned in 20 minutes we could have an outdoor table. We agreed to this. We were hungry but we waited because we had an agreement. We arrived 20 minutes later and the server told us that the kitchen was closed. When we asked about our agreement she shrugged, and said there's nothing she can do about it. Except there was something she could do, she could have told us in the beginning that the kitchen would close in 20 minutes. We kept our end of the agreement, they did not keep theirs. Really nice restaurant in Eureka. I had the fire-roasted brick bird for dinner. Great flavors and the Brock oven created an excellent crispiness on the skin of the chicken. The peppercorn cognac sauce didn't really have the depth of flavor I was expecting, but was still a nice touch to the meal. After a reservation mix up we ended up at the bar in the wine bar. Best thing that could've ever happened!!! We had Cameron serving us. He is such a pleasure. Gave great recommendations on food. Mushroom cobbler. WOW. Off the hook. Brussel sprouts were perfect. The sausage pizza with the best crust ever. My husband said possibly the best pork chop he has ever had. As if things couldn't get better we got dessert. The bread pudding was moist and great flavor with what I am pretty sure was a homemade whip cream on top. The crème brûlée was fantastic. But then we also had the blackberry ice cream and OH EM GEE. I think I will order that for my appetizer next time. You will not be disappointed by this choice. read more

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend while spending the weekend in Arcata. It was great all around! Cozy space, wonderful friendly service, delicious food. We shared the mushroom cobbler (YUM!), salt cod brandade (least exciting dish but not bad), grilled romaine caesar (that parmesan panna cotta!), and fresh peach caprese salad (not a typical caprese at all but really nice salad). My bf also got a couple of oysters he said were great. We shared the chocolate mascarpone cheesecake for dessert (which they put a candle in for my bday) and it was also delicious. You don't need yet another person to tell you this place is worth it. But I will anyway. If it has mushrooms, order it. (Unless you don't like mushrooms). They will do the mushrooms justice. The greens are well cooked with a delectable liquor that will leave you wanting for a second serving. If it comes from the brick fire oven, order it. It will have toast tasty edges. Everything has fresh herbs. The truffles are house made and hand rolled. Creme brûlée has a nice crust on it and the changing flavors keep this interesting. The wine list is a wine snob paradise. Sit at the bar if you'd like an additional treat of engagement (either at two doors down or the bistro). At the bistro, this means you're basically in the kitchen. Kitchens are fun places to be; especially when they are warm and lively and full of of sorts of different fires (as the brick and fire kitchen is). If you're at two doors down, be prepared to engage in conversation with everyone in the joint... it's very interactive. Lazy delectable luxurious meal central. Go someplace else if you're hurried. Ended up here on a Sat night for dinner. We arrived at 5pm and we're promptly seated with our baby. We ordered a variety of items off of the menu. Highlights for me were the steak and the oyster appetizer. My wife had the pork belly polenta which she loved. The espresso salted caramel ice cream and the marscapone cheesecake were excellent. I would skip the tapas plate and the pizza. I love pizza, but theirs didn't wow me as much as the other items on their menu. The service was overall personal, timely, and excellent which made our visit memorable. They even announce you to the kitchen staff as you walk back to the restroom through the kitchen.
