Our server, Juliana, welcomed and informed us about some of the menu choices. I went with the Spinach, Goat Cheese, and Sausage Omelet. OMG! The omelet was cooked perfectly, light and fluffy the spinach and goat cheese gave it just the right amount of tang, and went so well with my wife's Banana Pecan Pancakes. These were among the very best pancakes I have ever had, and a big plus is that they were hot and stayed hot! Thai Banana Syrup was so flavorful. My wife's son had the traditional Eggs Benedict, and judging by the way he inhaled it, it had to be good. He also ordered a side of two sausage patties, which looked great. His wife got the Southern Breakfast, which consisted of eggs, bacon, cheesy grits, and a fried green tomato. She raved about it. Inside seemed a bit more crowded. I ordered the short rib benedict and my friend had the chocolate chip banana pancakes with a side of bacon.The service was amazing. We came here for dinner on a Friday night. I was so surprised that we were able to make a same day reservation for a group of 8. Perhaps because the dinner menu is newer. Everything we had was incredible. The Caesar salad is the best I've had in a long time. We all had different dishes and nobody was unhappy with their decisions. I had the short rib with mashed potatoes. My boyfriend had the French dip sandwich (it puts hillstone french dip to shame) and we would both highly recommend both options. Had just finished a conference in Orlando, and needed to kill some time before my late afternoon flight. I chose Winter Park as I wanted to visit the Morse museum and hit up some shopping. I actually found parking very easily, but it could be because it was a Friday morning and not a weekend. I saw the bright yellow awning of Briarpatch, and gave a quick search for reviews and saw that it was highly rated so I gave it a try. I was seated quickly on the outdoor patio at an umbrella table. All of the menu looked delicious, but I chose to go with the pecan waffle. One thing for sure, you cannot complain that they are chintzy with the pecans! The pecans are not in the waffle batter, but there is likely a full cup of butter toasted pecans piled on top! In fact, I could barely finish all of the pecans, so I scooped them up in a to go box for later. Halfway through my breakfast, it started to rain, and then it started to pour. As the rain began falling, my waiter came out and encouraged me to move to a table still outside, but under the roof where it was more protected. I was glad I did when it really started to pour. They didn't have reservations available until 2pm so we lucked out. The restaurant was simple and cute, more tables than decor, but definitely as needed. There was a nice outdoor area, but it was too cold to ask for an outdoor table. The service was wonderful. Our waiter got to us immediately, our water was refilled as needed, our delicious appetizer, fried green tomatoes was brought quickly with our breakfasts arriving soon after. Although a little pricey I decided to suck it up because I really wanted to try the short ribs eggs Benedict, which was to die for! The ribs just melted in your mouth, the hash browns were perfectly crispy, the eggs perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had! These guys have got it going on! My friend had the raspberry pancakes and could not stop raving about how good they were. This is a place I've heard so much about and actually lived up to the hype. First thing's first, the restaurant is a little small and gets really packed (rightfully so). If you're dining with a party, they all have to be present in order to be seated, there's also a small countertop you can sit at on a first come, first serve basis. The wait list seems a bit chaotic but the staff runs it very smoothly. Our server was pleasant and helpful. I ordered the southern breakfast and everything was so hot and fresh and savory. WORST BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE EVER It was our first time there. Every week we try a new place for breakfast or lunch. This weekend, we had our children in Orlando, and decided to go there together. My wife and I arrived first at the restaurant and took the line for seating. When it was our turn, the host told us to wait till our children arrive to be seated. And she promised we'll be seated inside as we requested. We needed to sit inside as my daughter had a baby and I had a recent eye surgery. When our children arrived, the host disappeared and a different one appeared. She was so rude and told us there was no places inside (!!!!!) and we have to sit outside. We reluctantly accepted, as we were very hungry. We sit outside and a waiter took orders for the drinks. Shortly, after she brought the drinks, a wind blew out and our drinks were covered with dust and leaves. We covered the baby's eyes from the wind and dust. Then we asked them again to move us to an inside table. The reply was: "We'll bring the manager!!!!!!!!". I was like WHATTTTTT, does moving to another table needs a manager???!!!!!! We waited, and the manger never came!!!!! Instead, the waiter came again asking about the food orders!!!!!!!!!!! At this point, we decided to leave. They insisted we pay for the drinks (that we didn't drink). We paid and leave. We went to another restaurant in the same area (The Glass Knife), where we really enjoyed our time and their delicious food. When I got home I discovered that Briarpatch Restaurant added 20% gratuity on the receipt !!!!!!!!! My pomegranate Bellini was really good. I got the blueberry/lemon curd pancakes and they were fantastic!!!crispy on edges and just the right amount of tart. I highly advise making a reservation. There's a $20 dollar cancelation fee. Parking is limited, so take that into account and allot some time to find one. The interior can feel a bit cramped due to limited space, so you hear the bustle of people. Service has been great every time, with servers being courteous and friendly. My favorite thing on the menu is the short rib Benedict with spicy Hollandaise sauce. It's short rib on a bed of hashbrown, and poached eggs. This dish is so savory, you won't regret trying it. The Nutella style French toast with strawberries and mascarpone is so delicious, if you're in the mood for something sweet. They use brioche bread for the French toast, which makes it extra special. I once had a sandwich with short rib and scrambled eggs, and though I liked it, I was expecting it to be as savory as the short rib Benedict. If you're looking for something simpler, the avocado toast with egg is a solid choice, though a bit pricey. $26 dollars with the eggs. I would also recommend trying their house made desserts. I tried their carrot cake and chocolate, and they're both really good. But the carrot cake is my favorite. I've also tried their house lemonade with strawberry flavoring and it has a refreshing homemade taste to it. There are other things on the menu that look delicious and I can't wait to try. I saw so many burgers being served at different tables and it looks so juicy, that I'll make sure to try on my next visit. I can't recommend Briarpatch enough. I had lunch with my friend Beth and we could not stop talking about the fresh and tasty food, Also their amazing hospitality. This is located in the heart of Winter Park on Park Avenue so parking is limited but not impossible. The restaurant has a sidewalk veranda for outdoor dining and its menu is great for a brunch as they serve breakfast and lunch items. You have to try their chunky salad and I hear they have outstanding burgers too. I can't wait to bring my husband for his favorite red velvet cake on his birthday! If you opt for outdoor dining, you almost feel like you're in a European cafe. The tables are a bit packed in but the food easily makes it worthwhile. Of course there's the indoor seating area if that's more your speed. But about the food? I can't sing enough praise. Everything I've ever eaten has been delicious. It's elevated or a step above the other brunch choices in the area. Plus the plates are nicely sized! Today we had some quiche and very berry French toast. I love how crispy the French toast is and that they serve it with pure maple syrup. The very berry comes complete with fresh berries, compote, and mascarpone! Triple slam dunk! We (as a party of 4) went on a Sunday around noon and waited in line for about 24 minutes, but the wait was definitely worth it. Everyone enjoyed their meals, which were served in less than 15 minutes after we placed the order. As for the ambiance, the restaurant is clean with simple decorations, however they maximize the seating area so there's not much space between tables. I don't think you can go wrong with this place at all no matter what you order. Our table ordered the blueberry stuffed pancakes. breakfast torta, mimosas, drinks. The blueberry stuffed pancakes are probably the best pancakes i've ever eaten in my life. Serving portions are generous, so it's enough to eat some here and take the rest to snack on later. Drinks were pretty average priced- we did think the cost of ordering a bottle for mimosas was slightly pricey, and the small cup of orange juice they give you to drink with the bottle is kind of a joke for champagne to OJ ration...
