5 stars for the hygienist . Came in for a cleaning and it had been a while. She was very thorough and patient, and my teeth felt clean again. However, 3 stars for the front office. Came in a second time a couple weeks later for my xrays. They told me they lost my file and I had to fill it out again. They also couldn't verify my insurance since the insurance lady wasn't there that day. Did not get seated for an extra 15 minutes because of the confusion. Will update thoughts on Dr. Cho shortly. Update: back to 5 stars for Dr. Cho. He is phenomenal. Very knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and knows how to communicate with patients. I recommend this dentist. read more

I am a baby when it comes to pain. And I especially have a hard time with dentist/tolerating dental cleaning. I think it's rather mental than anything - so it takes me awhile to get up the courage to make an appt with new dentists. Unfortunately, my time with my old dentist had come to an end - I can't fly home (NY) every six months to go to my dentist (I miss you Dr. Choi). Per my friend's recommendation, I reluctantly (almost was forced to) make an appt with Dr. Cho. My friend raved about him and was so sad that her insurance was no longer accepted there. Mentally prepared myself for pain ridden 60 minutes with the hygienist and dentist. My hygienist (Sue) was ahhhhhmazing! she was bubbly and bright - at 8 AM!!! She came in with an upbeat attitude and just chatted away easing my nervous heart and soul. She constantly reassured me that my teeth were in great condition and that they were clean! She explained each procedure she was about to do with great care - and again, assuring me it's only going to be 'uncomfortable' and not painful. And she was absolutely right! She took great care of me. After my time with the hygienist, Dr. Cho came in and examined my teeth, chatted about a few other things, and off he went. I like to keep my encounters with the dentist as short as possible - unless there are problems. I made my 6 month appt - and will return with the same nervousness but that's me, not the practice. And I will once again (hopefully) be greeted by a cheerful, bright, and bubbly hygienist. I did not notice any nasty equipment there and thought the office was rather clean and professional. Do Cho is AMAZING!!! Super honest. I went to a dentist in Silverlake who told me that I needed five fillings!!! That shocked me because I'd never had a cavity before. I also thought it was weird when I asked the dentist if he was sure I needed all those fillings he said, "You don't have a co-pay for fillings and insurance covers them so why not?!!!" WTF right? Anyways fast forward to me deciding to get a second opinion. My good friend told me to see Dr. Cho because he was the best. I thought Dr. Cho's office was clean and I was immediately seen at my appointment time. I asked Dr. Cho what he thought about me needing fillings and he could not believe that the other dentist had recommended any work. He told me that my teeth looked great and I just naturally have deep grooves in my teeth but they are not cavities. Can you imagine? If I would have trusted the first dentist I would have gotten 5 unnecessary fillings... I highly recommend Dr. Cho because he is obviously extremely honest. He could have told me I needed work when I didn't and made a small fortune filling my teeth but instead he chose to be truthful and professional. I adore him and recommend him to all of my friends. Dr. Cho is the very best Dentist I've ever had. He explains all options, the better ones and the less optimal ones. I had a tooth that that was boderline saveable. The surgeon guy wanted to pull it out but Dr. Cho said it had a resonable chance of lasting another 5 or more years. I hadnt used any of my Dental insurance that year and it was December. My benefits would be lost for the year anyway so we used my available benefits and saved my tooth at no out of cost expense and it may last 5 or more years. so far it feels good and I'm really glad to get to keep it. Also I've had discoloring on my front teeth since braces being removed at 12 years old. This is 40 years of discoloring I've lived with. Dr. Cho is the first and only Dentist who ever said "I can fix that" and he did, in like 5 minutes. He's super smart, compassionate and a good conversationalist to boot. You can just tell he's a really good human. I'm not writing this review to benefit him, though he's totally deserving. Amazing Dentist. I ditto everything everyone's already said based on my first appointment. Very friendly, talks you through everything, no guilt, all the modern gadgets, no wait at all. Some communication barriers with the person who runs the office. On my way out, I tried to schedule my next cleaning (you know, so I can put it on my leave calendar, schedule it around whatever else I'm doing, you know... plan), but apparently that's not an option. She said no scheduling anything in advance and that they would mail me something when it's time for another appointment. Okaaaay. Then I tried to schedule an appointment to get the crowns replaced that he said I needed. Again, I was told they would get in contact with me about that. Month later, no contact. Tried calling, was told I'd be called back. I'm really surprised by this because it sounds like other people have been able to book appointments. ... do I have bad breath? I kinda want my crowns replaced now that a dentist told me I should. I got the letter from my insurance saying they'd cover it. Him being the best dentist ever doesn't really do me any good if I have to find another dentist to get my crowns replaced. The significant other goes here, too. He had the same issue and had to call a few times to get his filling scheduled after the initial cleaning. Then he was billed wrong. They made the correction, but it was a hassle. Ima say this, Dr Cho went in to my mouth with that scraper-make-your-gums-bleed utensil and when he was done...no blood, no pain. His prices are fair, his work is good, his demeanor is very pleasant. What I truly think sets him apart is that he bothers to explain what he is doing and why. I think experts in their fields often forget this. I think most people working in their own industries often forget that not everyone understands the industry. How many times have you been on the phone to a cell company or cable company asking why there are extra charges or been surprised that a plumber charged for travel time? Dr Cho is very thorough in his explanations and great in communicating a procedure. When he could not perform 1 necessary procedure, he referred me to someone else and let me know what I should expect to pay if I went to them or what the range SHOULD be if I chose someone else. I skimmed over a few reviews and saw a few negative comments about his front desk person. I understand and felt that communication was difficult. She once called to remind me of an appt and it was impossible to understand what time she said- when I called the office to double check, no one answered and I chanced it and went in when I thought I was supposed to. I was wrong and had to wait 2 add'l weeks for another appt. I mentioned it to Dr Cho in a friendly manner and he responded that he sometimes didn't understand the communication either and also let me know that this woman had been there since it was his father's business and he kept her. I appreciated that he felt a responsibility to a dedicated worker; it's an old school move and I give him credit for that. read more

Dr. Cho is the best!! I started coming to him in August 2013 and he has been the best dentist so far. He speaks English super well, is really intelligent, and always tells you everything he is doing. His office assistants are super sweet and it's always easy to get an appt, even in the same week. I had to get a crown about a year ago and the process was seamless - though not painless ;). Because I have a heavy bite, I have to get the crown replaced. Dr. Cho gave me my options and suggested the best one in his professional opinion. I always trust that he is doing what's best for me and my father-in-law who is also a dentist agrees! Dr. Cho is super cool - he's young, energetic, and I will be going to him for as long as I live in Glendale!! The only reason the office gets 4 starts instead of 5 is there is an elderly Asian woman that works at the front and she doesn't speak English very well. I called to give my new insurance information and it took 10 minutes for her to even figure out what I was talking about. When I was spelling my last name which starts with a "G", she kept saying "G as in Zebra?" and thus, could not find my file. I've been going to Dr. Brian Cho for the past 4 years, and he's awesome! My former colleagues recommended him to me and they live on the west side -- yeah, that's how great Dr. Brian Cho is, and luckily I live near there. He's not a car salesman --only gives you the service you really need. He cares about the patients and loves explaining what's wrong and his actions. Dr Cho is the best dentist I've ever been to hands down. A friend of mine I trust recommended him to me and when I showed up, the dirty old sign out front caught me off guard. I thought I may have had the wrong spot, but went ahead inside and was instantly made at ease. I found Dr. Cho on Yelp and I was SO grateful when I found out he accepted my insurance. He's a really great doctor and he knows how to make you feel comfortable. His staff is really nice and friendly. I know some reviews talk about his previous receptionist but I haven't seen her the last 2 times I've visited Dr. Cho. And honestly she wasn't even that bad. When I was younger I chipped the corner of my front tooth and since then I've always been somewhat subconscious of my teeth. Today Dr. Cho changed out the filling that a previous doctor did years ago since the colors didn't match. He did a really great job and he wanted to make sure it was perfect and didn't have a distinguishing line like I was used to having on my tooth (although it was faint and most people wouldn't notice I appreciated him going that extra mile for me). I am considering just getting veneers now so that I don't have to change them again IF the color happens to change in the future and I will definitely be going to Dr. Cho for that as well. I'm one of those jerks who lives by yelp reviews, but never posts them. However, my wonderful experience with Dr. Cho has motivated me to jot down a few words. So far, I have had a check-up/cleaning and a cavity filled by Dr. Cho. Both appointments were efficient and thorough. I have had trouble in the past with dentists who don't believe me when I tell them I need extra novocain. Dr. Cho - on the other hand - declared, "You must have high bone density. I have just the thing!" The procedure was the most painless experience I've had in a dentist's office. I am very grateful to have found him! Oh, and I know that there have been some other mentions of this... The woman who runs the office does have a very thick accent. Let me join the chorus of people singing the praises of Dr. Cho. I used to go to Miracle Smile on Wilshire Blvd and that was a very different experience. Miracle Smile has very modern offices with a spa-like atmosphere, lots of natural light, water fountains, hip furniture, music playing, movies you can watch and your requisite high-fashion, sexy receptionist. It was a practice with multiple dentists so I sometimes had different people working on my teeth. Dr. Cho's office is in the corner of a strip mall crammed near a 7-11 and a smoke shop. It's pretty small and no-nonsense, but it's clean. Dr. Cho is the only dentist there and he makes you feel like you're his only patient. In other words, he is seriously awesome. I've probably been seen by 4 dentists in my lifetime and not one of them told me that I have a mouth full of tori! Having been born with them (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandibular_tori), I've always thought that everyone else had a big bony bump on the roof of their mouth and two bony bumps on the bottom. My mind was blown. I also have really good oral hygiene habits but am always getting cavities. Dr. Cho was the first to tell me that my naturally bright white teeth are due to having naturally thin enamel which makes me more prone to cavities. So not only is he great at cleaning and fixing your teeth, but he truly is a "dental geek" that's really into what he's doing and takes the time to share his enthusiasm with you. I have always hated going to the dentist and get tense in the chair, but the experience is so much different with Dr. Cho and his staff. He talks a lot, sometimes just chatting to himself as he's working ("Oh, looks like I'll need the butterfly clamp, hmm, or maybe it would be better with a such and such...") but it really helps me relax and I enjoy the information he shares. I have a feeling he's just going to keep getting more and more popular based on these reviews and that it's going to get harder and harder to get an appointment, but I'll deal with it. I almost don't want too many more people to discover the gem that is Dr. Cho. For the last few years, I hadn't been able to go to the dentist and coasted by on the fact that I had great teeth and even better dental hygiene habits. Alas. Three years was asking too much for even the best maintained teeth. My gums were constantly tender and had begun to bleed. Thankfully - yes, thank you, Yelpers! - I found all the rave reviews about Dr. Cho and also noted that it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to get my teeth cleaned. Nonetheless, I was still fully prepared to fork over several Benjamins (since I don't have dental insurance) for what I'd anticipated would be at least a couple hours of drilling and chiseling before we eve got around to polishing any pearly whites. Yet, nonesuch! Dr. Cho himself (read: not a hygienist) did the cleaning in under 45 painless minutes. Probably closer to 30 minutes. Moreover, while I'm someone who's generally very comfortable at the dentist's, I nearly fell asleep during the cleaning, which is utterly shocking given that he managed to remove all the nasty build-up AND three-years of egregious coffee stains! Truly remarkable! As for the cost: a full set of x-rays (digital) and cleaning by Dr. Cho himself came to well under $100. Woot! Then, since both Dr. Cho and I knew that some of my periodontal pain was due to my severe teeth-grinding, I asked for an estimate for a night guard. $350 for the nicest night guard I've ever used. So, I returned on another day for the night guard fitting, a procedure that went very smoothly. Now, my gums no longer hurt. I no longer wake up having bitten my tongue during the night. I think I have fewer headaches too. Huzzah! The receptionist - though her Korean accent is thick - refuses to speak Korean to me. She's quirky but gets her job done. And if she helps Dr. Cho be as wonderful as he is, that's fine by me. I can't wait to go back for my next cleaning!!! Dr. Cho is kind, gentle and even accommodating. I was running about an hour late to my appointment because of rain, traffic, and a bit of poor planning on my part. I called in and said that I'd be late, and they told me to just come anyway. As soon as I got there, he immediately took me in and I was still able to get my filling. After dealing with a price gouging, up-selling freak from hell in Burbank for years, I made the jump to Dr. Cho based on the reviews here. He's calming, detail oriented and very friendly. His hygienist, Joan, was a delight, and the lady who took my x-rays (sorry, forgot her name) was very friendly and smart as well. Okay: the location. Yes. I'm a snob about some things, and when I pulled into the parking lot I almost pulled right back out. I have a preconceived notion about mini-mall dentistry. Once inside, though, you'll be very pleasantly surprised. Don't let the downtrodden exterior dissuade you. Ok, ok, ok, ok, OK. I will have to just eat my words and say that it seems the first 2 times that I visited (where it was suuuuper busy) seems to have just been a fluke. I'm happy to report that in the last few times, I've pretty much felt like there's no one but me in the office (not sure if I am, though!), so yay for that. :D The only complaint I have now is that sometimes I want to ask the doctor something before I get out of the chair, but he's so quick to leave (I guess he's super busy), that I don't even get a chance to say goodbye. It's not really a biggie, because I could ask him in the beginning, but anyway.. He's really, really knowledgeable and pretty nice, and explains everything as well. So far, I feel like he's a pretty honest dentist, which is really, really important and even hard to find (been there, done that with awful dentists). It's hard to get an appointment, unless it's an emergency, but that should show that people keep going back to him (with good reason). I've referred my mom & best friend so far. So far, so good! :D PS, I've had zero problems with Ms. Kim at the front desk (the mature Korean lady). She's pretty nice and actually good at her job. Dr. Cho is wonderful!. I called for an appt friday because I wasn't able to sleep due to a toothache. He suggested a mouthguard, and when that didn't alleviate the pain, he squeezed me in that monday for a check up when I told him how much pain I was in. I continued to have pain and he squeezed me in again on tuesday. To no fault of Dr. cho, that tooth couldn't be worked on because I had an enlarged nerve that could not be numbed. He prescribed me some antibiotics and pain meds. Although he's off on wednesdays he called to check up on me to see how i was doing. When the pain wasn't getting any better, he squeezed me in yet again on thursday for an emergency root canal. He was patient when my mouth wouldn't go numb and we were finally able to treat the tooth! He's talkative, but in a good way. He's full of random information and makes the time go by faster. As others have said he explains everything to you and makes you feel like you can ask all the stupid questions that you were always afraid to ask your dentists. great dentist!! Dr Cho is great. I've always had strong teeth, and never needed a filling until I was in my late thirties, but then of course a whole bunch of them started getting cavities at the same time. I ended up needing 8 fillings when I went to see Dr Cho, which meant he booked me in for four visits, two fillings each time. Having never had a filling in my life, I have always assumed the process must be terrible given everything I'd heard, but I can tell you, I actually looked forward to my visits! Dr Cho is really friendly, fast, efficient, extremely careful not to cause any pain and his work is exemplary. He continually talks about what he's doing which is very reassuring, even if you can't really answer back with all those tools in your mouth. I highly recommend him. Seriously. read more

So unfortunately Dr. Cho has gone from being a five star dentist to a one star dentist because of my last experience with him. I went in last week because I had a lot of pain in a molar and it was discovered that I had a cracked tooth under an old crown. Before I could get all my questions answered, he darted out of the room. I told him that I only had three weeks to fix the tooth since we are moving out of state and going on vacation out of the country as well, and I would prefer that he fixed it since he's been our dentist for a long time but I got the impression that he didn't want to do the job. He told me that it was an urgent matter and should be done sooner than later, but again, I got the feeling that he didn't want to take on this tooth but he asked me to return the following week. The week passes and I went in today for a follow up with the understanding that he would work on replacing the crown which has become quite painful, but again, he kind of dodged my questions and kept leaving the room. Despite the fact that I'm in quite a bit of pain and I'm leaving the country soon for two weeks, it seemed like he didn't care about my health. At one point it was just the hygienist in the room with me and I asked her,"Why am I here? Dr. Cho told me to come back. He said he could fix the tooth," to which she replied "He's way overbooked. Even patients with an emergency are put on a waiting list." Totally wasted my time. Why didn't he just tell me this last week ? I finally asked to speak to him again (at this pointed he's left the room mid conversation three times) and I asked him bluntly "so can you do this or not? I don't have a lot of time, so if you are unable to take care of this, I will go to another dentist" to which he replied "yes, I'm too busy and I don't know if I can do this." Why he didn't tell me last week, before I wasted a week with tooth pain I HAVE NO IDEA. read more

I have been to Dr. Cho for about a year now. I found him through yelp, and given his excellent reviews, I decided to give it a try. Jenny, who sits in the office, is vey direct and forthright in explaining the charges and what the best thing to do for patients with insurance and without. The rest of the office stuff is very pleasant and approachable, and will typically greet you with a smile. As for dental work, I have had cleaning, and fillings done with Dr. Cho. His hands are very swift, gentle and fast. He always have me in and out of the office within 40 minute for a simple filling. And if he can't help you with problematic teeth, he will send you to his referrals, which are just as pleasant and professional as he is. And what I appreciate most about Dr. Cho is the fact that he takes the time to explain to me the procedures, and problems that I am encountering with my teeth, and has always done so patiently and as thoroughly as he can be. Last but not least, parking is very easy as there is a designated parking lot, and his charges are fairly reasonable, and his office stuff will always do their best to file the charges to insurance so you will not need to pay more than what is necessary. Dr. Cho views dentistry as an art form- your teeth are his canvas, and he has all of the latest bells and whistles to make the end result as beautiful as possible. This guy takes pride is making his work as flawless as possible, and he works quickly and skillfully. I've also had dentists who try to gouge you for all they can, but Dr. Cho is the anthesis of greedy, and will work with you to get maximum bang for your buck. Like some of the other reviewers, I was used to going to provider's with much swankier offices, and almost took off the first time I discovered his office is in a mini-mall. After reading bunches of reviews, I decided to get a cleaning after years of neglect and very expensive mouthwashes to make up for the not seeing a professional. I have never had such a completely feeling of *happy - smiley - clean - brightness* in all my life. My mouth felt wonderful! My teeth were squeaky clean. And for months - no gnarly morning breath! I made my appointment exactly 6 months out (because this place gets booked fast), and cannot wait to get the feeling of clean back in my mouth. Going to the dentist is now a pleasure. I have Invisalign braces and Dr. Cho had no problem working around my bonding/attachments. He got in there and really scaled off some years of cherry gummie bears, Dots, and gourmet salted caramel :) Dr. Cho is is fantastic! Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Cho is a tooth nerd. If you like to know what's going on in your mouth, he's the perfect dentist for you. His office is in a scary strip mall next to a 7-11, and when I first arrived, I did have a moment of "get back in the car and drive away." But spurred on by the 5 star yelp reviews, I went in, and the office is pleasant, clean, and best of all, no wait. The lady at the front desk is difficult to understand (I think she's Korean), but she does everything she says she'll do (I requested a itemized receipt and she mailed it to me a few days later). Appointment and filing systems are archaic - everything is by hand/files, and I don't remember a computer. However, those minor points are not enough to even drop a star. I've had two visits here, one cleaning and one filling, and they were so quick, efficient, and pleasant that I would never go anywhere else. I've had a pretty big aversion to dentists all my life, but when I needed a bunch of work done, well, I came to know the good and the bad of teeth-related doctors. What's really important to me is someone who explains what he/she is seeing, why a certain procedure needs to get done, explains my options and doesn't make me feel like a failure as a human being for needing work done (yes, this has happened). I found Dr. Cho on my new dental provider list after reading his yelp review. He really is a fantastic dentist. He explains everything thoroughly and sets you at ease. The couple of times I've gone in, I haven't had to wait long at all, and he's right there working on you. I feel comfortable and taken cared of. Wow, talk about a sleeper. The office is the most unassuming place from outside, and I was actually kind of put off at first. Then I walked inside. The front desk clerk was warm and friendly, the office is bright and modern. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth was professional, thorough and gentle. She talked me through everything she did. Dr. Cho came in and evaluated my x-rays and gave me a comprehensive assessment of my teeth. He was pleasant, and professional. I could tell he really loves what he's doing. With any kind of service, you want to work with someone who's into what they're doing. I got that impression here, and I will be back. Thanks Yelpers for making my dentist search so easy.
