You get what you pay for and one really can make a mountain out of a mole hill. After using VIP a couple years ago with a couple of other transactions that were challenging but completed relatively on time with the excuses being blamed on the tenant. I reached back out to Shawna King from VIP and asked her about listing two duplexes in the Oak Cliff area. She pushed to communicate with the tenants so she would not have to deal with the property manager because he was challenging distance away for her to arrange inspections and walk throughs. She also wanted to disturb the tenants with open houses and views before offers. I put my foot down and didn't allow open houses. I made it clear when the properties were leased to and rejected an offer with FHA financing because it would require the buyer to occupy the investment property prior to the lease expiring. Once we got an accepted offer this still turned out to be the case. I refused on multiple occasions to involve the tenants. Shawna took it upon herself to have the buyer and the tenant negotiate a buyout, offering the tenant two months free rent to leave early. By now, you can assume escrow was delayed and I was not receiving rent. The appraisal came in very under valued and the deal was going to fall out of escrow. I was asked for a third extension while the lenders requested new appraisal from an appraiser that does investment property regularly. When I first contacted Shawna about listing the two properties, she reached out and friended me on Facebook. Therefore, while my deal was going down the drain and she was telling me how hard she was working to save the deal I was seeing her posts from her "girls weekend" in San Francisco. #girlsweekend #welldeservedbreak Some how by a wing and a prayer the new appraisal was completed and the transaction went through. However, taking a difficult situation of a poor appraisal was exacerbated by the fact the realtor let the buyer talk to and negotiate with the tenants prior to ownership. I reached out many times to the agent and the broker while this transaction was troubled and my calls and emails would go unanswered or they would have some third party call me back like the lender. Why the seller was talking to the lender was beyond me. However, why the buyer was talking to the tenants was also unbelievable. This is my first Yelp review ever! I was just going to let this go and never do business with VIP again, however being emailed to be compensated for a positive review, made me sign up. I wanted to warn other that any positive response they may be seeing could have been paid for. #honestyisthebestmedicine #yougetwhatyoupayfor #makingmountainoutofmolehill

I don't have the space to get into all of those issues here. #2 We have been trying to get taxes that they owe us from the time they owned the home in 2018 for about 2 months now. Mostly they just don't respond, but when they do, it is usually some odd excuse that has nothing at all to do with the subject at hand. We have forwarded them the documents showing what they owe (and verifying that they owe it), and still they continue to put us off. #3 The realtor, Phyllis, constantly refers to the renovators as her "client" even though she is married to one of the partner renovators. It seems very deceptive that she doesn't openly disclose the fact that she is a part owner of these homes she lists. Very unprofessional.

Squeaky clean, better than the photos, and the hosts are very communicative. They have replied within 10 minutes any time we needed something. We booked an AirBnB from a different host prior to staying with Goldnest and it was awful-- broken doors, bugs, mold, etc. Tal was able to get us into one of their rentals within minutes! They saved our lives. I would definitely recommend renting from Goldnest, they seem to have their ducks in a row.

I was messaging Goldnest about a possible discount -- not trying to book -- when my card was charged and the reservation was confirmed. I immediately (within one minute) explained that this was accidental. The host acknowledged it, but only told me to contact Airbnb. Instead of helping, the messages continued like nothing had happened -- asking about my dog, visitors, and cars, and saying they were excited to host me -- while I was clearly saying I had not intended to book and was upset. At one point, the responses felt so scripted I asked if I was even speaking to a real person. I was then directed off Airbnb to complete a separate "boarding pass" through a third-party system. There, I was required to choose between a $79 non-refundable fee or a $450 security deposit. After everything that had already happened, this pushed it over the edge. Airbnb states that pricing includes all fees, so being redirected off-platform and then presented with additional charges felt confusing and not transparent. I ended up calling while sobbing just to have the $79 fee waived and avoid the $450 deposit. After that call, they waived the requirement and moved my check-in to 2 PM, but by that point the experience had already been extremely stressful. By the time I arrived, I still didn't fully understand the check-in process and was messaging from the driveway asking what to do. At first glance, the home looked clean and the decor was nice. However, after pulling back the comforter, I found visible URINE stains. When I went under the sink to get a trash bag, there was also a dead ROACH. That immediately changed how I felt about the entire place. The backyard was another major issue. The grass and weeds were very high (approximately 4-6 inches), and the yard was not usable for my dog. I reported this immediately and was told landscapers were "running behind." They apologized, yet did absolutely nothing. The next morning, the yard was still not done. I followed up again and was told landscapers would come that afternoon. We were leaving the following morning, so it was never resolved in a way that actually improved the stay. Because of this, my dog had to be walked on a leash the entire time instead of using the yard THAT WE PAID FOR. Throughout all of this, the pattern was the same: they acknowledged issues, apologized, and said they understood -- but nothing was resolved in time to actually improve the stay. Urine stains, roaches, weeds, and tall grass were apparently my problem. It's all about rules and policy until Goldnest does not follow through on their end. Airbnb flags this listing in the bottom 10% based on ratings, reviews, and reliability -- and after this experience, that was not surprising. This was stressful, poorly managed, and handled in a way that made an already difficult situation worse. I would never stay here again or recommend Goldnest properties to anyone.
