I needed a quick, easy lunch at Rostock station and the pizza here smelled so good that I was drawn into the queue.
Obviously pretzels are meant to be the speciality, but I didn't see anyone order one... Most people went for the hot savoury items, so I decided to follow suit, and did that horrible tourist thing of pointing to what I wanted with a mumbled 'bitte'. The signs were handwritten and I don't speak German so didn't know what anything was, but it was clear these were all 'specials' as the pizza and pretzels had proper printed signs. The staff member was surly at best (with everyone - it wasn't because I was a tourist!). The food was warmed a bit (but didn't come out hot) and was quickly passed over.
For about €2, I was presented with some sort of bready thing with a twist in the middle, filled with 2 long thin sausages and covered in cheese. It was fine, if a bit dry, and while not hot, wasn't cold either. I could take it or leave it - and in the end, I left at least half of it.
If this was a place I passed through every day, I'm sure I'd find a few favourites. I know it's a large chain so at least you know what you're getting (usually...!) read more
