Needless to say I (as well as my Mom) was surprised that the Festival shifted to World's Fair Park. It is much BIGGER than I remember. I guess Market Square wasn't big enough to handle all these cool booths. Honestly it is much less "Fair Like" then the Washington County Fair in Hillsboro. No rides and unnecessary fried food. Mostly cool art, tons of crafts, and I was able to grab a cool shady spot to chill and write my review. I was really hoping to spot one of my old(er) friends from Knoxville while I was walking around. I don't usually last long at these festivals...my interest seems to wain fairly quickly, but people watching is fun too. Kinda reminds me of sitting on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan. Yup it always comes back to New York. Y'all come back now, ya hear?

There are differing categories of chalk art with winners are chosen at the end of the day (and labeled as such). There are food trucks and other vendors selling goods and often activities for the littles, and live music to enjoy. Just note that it gets crowded on the Sat. of the event and if you want to avoid that (and it hasn't rained, go the day after to enjoy the art walk without the heavy crowds.

He paid 4 dollars for a lemonade refill and she gave him mellow yellow, and when he corrected her she refused to give him anything else. He even asked for just water and she refused. I dumped the drink out and went back to ask for the money or a lemonade and she REFUSED to help us and instead was so rude and ugly to us. She also gave my boyfriend cold and soggy fries so the food wasn't great either. She refused to help me get in contact with customers service. So disappointed with the fair staff this year. I grew up going to this fair and have a ton of memories here and for the staff to be horrible this year makes me so upset, I have had plenty of contact with people who have also had this experience this year and it's so sad to see something we loved as children become a place of frustration! If you're going to go eat I recommend literally anywhere else.

The array of historic cabins and exhibit-filled barns at the base of a rolling hill conveys the appropriate atmosphere. The level of detail in the artifacts and their presentation is high. Owing to my disposition I found extensive information on health and medicine, but there were plenty of other topics to explore. The live farm aspects of the museum held a large number of peacocks for some reason (but only one peahen that I could see, which the peacocks did not appear to be happy about), as well as various pigs and goats. There was a significant admission charge (lower with AAA), and I wondered if it would be worth it, but having given myself two hours, I ended up using most of that and giving up towards the end more for lack of energy than lack of exhibits. Younger children will appreciate the animals, while older adults will read into some of the exhibits more, but anyone visiting in good faith is likely to find something of interest.

Chef's kiss. We sampled a few, and the views while snacking were straight out of a postcard--peaceful, pretty, and perfect for pretending you're in a cheese commercial. Whatever you do, don't skip the Café. It's in this gorgeous, huge old barn that's been lovingly renovated into a temple of ooey-gooey grilled cheese goodness. It's basically sacred ground for sandwich lovers. Grilled cheese is their thing, and oh boy, do they do it justice. My husband went for the Smoked Bologna, I had The Big Cheese (because... obviously), and our friends followed our lead. No regrets. These sandwiches are THICK, golden, buttery slabs of bread hugging melted cheese like it's a warm embrace from grandma. Pro tip: One whole sandwich is basically a cheesy Everest. My husband took half to go. I, on the other hand, showed no restraint. Dessert? Oh yeah. We shared a chocolate peanut butter shake (sin in a cup), and our friends had the cake batter one--because balance, right? Also, they have a super cute shop where I snagged some Tennessee jams to bring home. Gifts, I said. For others. (Probably.) It's a lovely spot--perfect for a chill picnic with family or friends... or to just sit quietly while your food coma gently sets in.

While the veggie market moves during the winter months to a different location, they all join up here in April! From fresh local seasonal produce that is so much tastier than anything you can get in the store, to amazing loaves of long ferment sourdough, to simple ingredient dog treats, to family-raised healthy clean meats and eggs, to artisan soap, art, and other crafts. It's an awesome mix of goodness!! It is my first stop every Saturday morning, and I will be a committed consumer of the local small businesses from here on out! I almost hate to share this place, but I also want people to know there are healthier options in this small town. Hint: You should go early if you're serious about getting specific things on your shopping list - many people like me call this place 'my local market,' and they can sell out quickly. I learned my lesson one Saturday ::: Never Again!! Some of my favorite vendors I frequent weekly: Carl Mahle Farm (grass-fed and finished beef & OLF sourdough) Extra Terrestrial Mushrooms (the most beautiful mushrooms ever) Zavel's Family Farms (lamb, beef, and pork) and beautiful veggies Rebel Hollow Farm (pasture raised pork and lamb : grain finished beef) Goeofoods (best granola & granola bars ever)

Many people were just getting plastic bags. I know some of the other markets I've been to carry their own line which would be very easy for this market to establish. If for some reason I missed someone providing this service I apologize.
