Natural Living Center in Bangor is a top-spot for plant-based eaters like us. (I can't speak for…read moretheir non-vegan produce; but, they seem to carry a lot of local meats, dairy and such.) Their products run the gamut, including a large Asian section. Aisles are nice and wide; lots of refrigerators. Overall, it's clean, bright, and well-stocked. Produce section is, overall, good with a lot of local goods. That said, they sometimes tend to leave withering and browning veggies out on display WAY beyond attractiveness going into decay. (Our last visit had the same rotting celery on display/sale from a visit several days earlier! It was pretty gross-looking. Thus, 4 instead of 5 stars.) Other than that one glaring negative, customer service can be spotty and downright oblivious (but, it's status quo for much of today's young workforce). And, too, expect maximum pricing on, at least, plant-based/vegan products. (Can rival Brewer's Tiller & Rye for outrageous pricing!) These negatives aside, NLC offers a great variety for vegans in Bangor that can't be overlooked! (But, in all honesty, living in Bucksport, we tend to head to Belfast to shop plant-based. However, Natural Living Center recently started carrying a good number of locally-made Midcoast Vegan products (which we LOVE!), so that looks to be a lure for our steady return, for now. And the Asian section....)

The environment is organic and not stiff. Much better than T&R in Brewer - It has wonderful,…read morehelpful, knowledgeable staff that are always around to help. The prices are a little higher than my husband would like to pay, but I don't feel like I am being stolen from as in many other natural food stores. They've been around forever, and I will continue to take my family here as long as they are! My son & daughter have both looked forward to our weekly trips for 15 years

Best Place in Bangor to buy fresh cut Meat!!…read more In Bangor to visit family that just moved from the Midwest. Saw the Tozier add and they had prime rib for $5.99/lb. Asked the butcher if he would cut me some 1" steaks. No problem!!! They were some of the best steaks I have grilled in a long time. The next week they had t-bone steaks for $4.99/lb...again, I asked the butcher if he would cut me some 1" steaks...they were just as good as the ribeye that he cut me the previous week!!! If I lived in Bangor, THIS is where I would buy my meat!!!

I ordered a 100$ meat package. Which they had to write it on a blank white paper since they didn't…read morehave a proper form for me to fill out " like the PDF file I download off their website" They couldn't properly explain to me what the sausages were, one of the lady workers called her father to ask him since she started that he delivers meat packages so he would know. (Which isn't part of the company!) (Not professional) I had my father pick it up for my kids and I. When he dropped off the box to me I found out that I received ONLY HALF of what I ordered. I'd think that the workers would know more about the meat packages the store has to offer, so this wouldn't happen. Nope! With me not having a working vehicle ATM I couldn't go back that day to pick the other box up. (Which should of NEVER Happened on the 1st place) I go back a few days later when I got a vehicle to use just to find out that ALL THE STEAKS AND HAMBURGER WERE BROWN!! The worker's reason why it is brown was that they don't use red dye. Ok NOO, fresh meat that has just been cut is always red and shouldn't turn brown that quickly (Even a few days old left in a fridge). The packages don't have Sell buy dates on them (well most of them didn't) So how do I know if they aren't selling me meat that is about to expire!!! I truly believe that is what happened in my case! This was the 1st time getting a meat package from them and will be the last. I'm no willing to risk myself and my kids getting sick with food poison. Sad thing is that the worker was trying to push off to me that it's fine for us to take it. Yes he called the manager to reimburse me, that I can pick up tomorrow, but honestly it still worries me to eat any of the meat from there now on including the meat that I do have in our freezer at the moment!!!!!! I always went to the Brewer Store for Sandwiches but now I'm second questioning myself about that also. This is the only Tozier's store that I have ever been to by the way.
