Once inside, directions weren't clear and I ended up walking more than I had wanted on my bad leg. Employees I asked for directions were as helpful as they could be - all were very friendly. Once at the Outpatient MRI area, things moved smoothly. I believe the quality of care was excellent just based on my interactions with staff. It seemed that they cared about getting accurate images. The entire process took roughly two hours. I would highly recommend U of M Medicine basrd on their consistently high level of patient care and sense of urgency for whatever you are dealing with!!

The neurosurgeon who performed carotid endarterectomy... top notch…read more The care and experience goes downhill from there. It's sad that the best thing about this surgical experience is the cafeteria on the second floor. This hospital has seen better days and needs some updating badly. The bathrooms, disgusting. The elevators, too slow to even attempt to wait. It took 3 days to figure out how to get around this place, directions are confusing at best. Good luck figuring out what elevator bank to take to another elevator bank to get to another wing, etc. When I asked staff for directions, I swear they gave me the wrong directions on purpose. Parking is a horrifying experience, and I'm not one to let anyone valet park my Jeep. Extremely under-estimated the number of parking spaces they would need or the hospital has expanded way beyond the parking. The communication from the time leading up to pre-op, to pre-op, post op, during the hospital stay in ICU and a regular room, to discharge was sadly inconsistent. One nurse in ICU, extremely nice. The next shift nurse needed to not only be smacked but fired. So much conflicting information was given on the diagnosis and the steps that would be taken all the way thru recovery was bad enough to cause emotional distress. Discharge estimate - way off and there were no complications. The hospital needs to figure out a way to get consistent communication going. I was told I would be awake for my surgery, then told I would be put under and my brain would be frozen and monitored via computer and I would be on a nasal oxygen tube, then told no my brain wasn't going to be frozen but I would be put under and my brain 'shut-down' and monitored via computer and that I would be intubated. That is way too much discrepancy in communication. Recovery instructions were ALL over the place. A cocktail of drugs was thrown at me with no consideration for what I really needed or how the drugs would interact to make me nauseous. Dosing changes were not communicated between shifts, how does this happen when it's put into a computer tracking system? Would I go to another hospital next time? Maybe. I haven't decided yet. I haven't been through the billing experience yet so maybe that will tip my decision. I do understand the very best doctors are at U of M, maybe that is all that is important. I'm not sure yet. You should weight all doctors and hospitals before you have a procedure as important as mine was before you decide. Get word of mouth referals from real people who have been through what you are about to go through. Don't depend on your insurance company referrals or even your general doctor. I hate to say it but our medical system is completely broke, you have to advocate for yourself. You have to take a deep dive and do your due diligence. I feel sorry for the elderly who can't do this for themselves and might not have anyone to help them.

I recently interviewed and accepted a position at St.Joe's Trinity Ann Arbor. I was amazed and cried saying, "They're finally listening." There are so many advances in this hospital and they aren't just fluff. They're real and being used every day. To start, there are more staff with beneficial variations to staff positions, more training, very nice accommodations for patients including no more than 2 to a room. Significant advances to the menus and various food options for patients, families, and staff. Did you know, They grow their own herbs and vegetables on the campus of the hospital. Management has become more active on the units and have no problem answering call lights or helping where they are needed. There are updates to the TV's, availability of all genres of music to listen to, and to be able to go outside. We have state of the art technologies to keep the staff safe. There are a whole lot of problems in health care. I can really see that the people here at St. Joe's Ann Arbor are really working to be better. It is my hope and prayer that we continue to make these tremendous strides to provide excellent care and comfort to all. I am very excited to start this new chapter of my career and be a part of the Trinity Ann Arbor family. I just wanted to take a moment to point out what's going right so far. Thanks for reading.

There is absolutely no justification for this type of treatment or service. The care and the room upon getting to the room is very good but the wait time is horrific and unjustifiable though one of the nurses said it's been that way since Covid but I still don't understand how a "professional " healthcare system anywhere can operate in this manner. Administrative and Operational improvements are greatly needed. Hospitals should not be operating in this fashion, simply inexcusable.

Per his treating physicians, he ended up dying as a result of a massive brain bleed due to a Heparin overdose sometime during the night. One of the doctors indicated that there could have been an issue with communication between the computer in his room and the pharmacy. When asked by the doctors, who were both very remorseful, what I wanted, I said I wanted to know what went wrong to assure this error doesn't happen to anyone else. They stated the matter would be reviewed and that the resulting information would be shared with me. To this day, no one has reached out to me. I have been in contact with both Patient Relations and Risk Management, both departments assuring me that someone will call me--but still no call. Here is the mission of Trinity Health: We serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities. Among their Core Values are reverence, justice, and integrity. If someone would reach out, I would tell them that I am not interested in money, but by their lack of response, it seems that they have most certainly made it their priority.

All my appointments were on-time and I had been appointed with some of the best clinicians and staff. They respect your privacy and put patients at ease. I also love their patient portal and their quick response. Special mention about Nurse Brittani, she was all through my labour. She was very comforting, supportive and motivating throughout my stay. Her shift ended early in the morning but luckily she had extended her shift and stayed back until I delivered. The kindness and caring spirit was so comforting. THANK YOU Brittani, YOU WERE AWESOME !! I really appreciate your help. I received constant attention throughout my delivery. Even after delivery, series of specialists (Anesthesiologists, pediatrician, gynecologist and lactation specialist) visited multiple times and made sure I was comfortable. Every single one of them was compassionate and respectful. I felt safe throughout my delivery. Great team and high quality service. They also provide healthy healing program after delivery and go extra mile to ensure that all your health concerns are resolved. Very impressed with the hygiene and prompt service. I'm super impressed and highly recommended this facility !! Excellent in every way. You all rock.. Double thumbs up !!

Overall the atmosphere of the whole clinic/center is relaxed and laid back. There's a television in the waiting room and everything feels clean and up to date. I did not receive any physician care here but I did take advantage of the walk-in lab to get blood drawn. And when I say "drawn blood" I mean TWELVE vials (my new doc is apparently extremely thorough). The woman working at the lab was awesome. She was a little snarky but in a completely accessible warm, joking way. She was meticulous with checking and double-checking all the labs that were ordered. I warned her about my veins being crap (at most places, they stab into my arm and then "dig around" continually moving the needle under my skin and stabbing every which way until they finally get a vein - I don't mind needles or pain but it's sickening). This lady, on the other hand, felt both my veins and was careful to choose a small needle. She stuck me once, precisely, right into my vein, and got a good draw. THANK YOU, LORD.
