This is a review for a Jasmine milk tea around late January and Thai milk tea around early March. January - I went with my cousin since it's been a while the last time we've been to Amor. She got a Jasmine milk tea and said it was pretty watered down. I had a taste just to be sure and she was right. March - My friend got me a Thai milk tea and it was good enough that it tasted like Thai milk tea but a whee bit watered down. It wasn't like the Thai milk tea I first tasted when they first opened. I guess since I used to go early around opening time when it first opened, there wouldn't be as many customers so the drinks were made better. Since there's a lot more customers, it's a hit or miss. Some times you'll get your drink a bit watered down, a bit too sweet, or you'll get it just right depending on who's making your drink. read more

However, recently the workers' attitude and their drinks are so bad. I think their owner changed because how can all these change so suddenly to make me not want to come here anymore. 1. I get that this place gets busy during summer and summer is coming. Whenever I go, they never smell and has bad attitudes like they don't want to work. Also, one of the skinny girl has the worst. She even literally throw my changes, which ended up on the floor and into the counter. I was really disappointed how they acted out. 2. I get no ice because their drinks are already cold and when the ice melts the tea tastes some kind watery. However, because I don't want no ice they put so much small amount of teas. Been going here for the past couple years since SJSU is around the corner, so I guess you can call me a regular. Friendly staff that work quick, and I mean QUICK. I literally get my drink in about 30 seconds or less. I usually grab a regular tea or regular milk tea so it may depend on the drink you get, but generally it is quick service. As far as taste goes, it is definitely in my top list. For the milk teas, it has a good blend of frothy and sweet, so it's not overbearingly thick and creamy. It would definitely satisfy the sweeter tooth customer, but you could always customize it to your liking, of course. They recently started to have coffee shop activities like game night and open mic night, so its a nice spot to chill on a week night if you are a student or wanting to do something downtown. As for a study spot, it works for me. For others, maybe not so much because it is a lot tight than other places (their couch is literally 2 feet away from the next table) and much more noisier because of the tight space. 4.7 stars, go for expansion, Amor. Went here on a whim after the Silicon Valley auto show. It's walking distance from the convention center but it feels longer than the 0.3 miles that Apple maps says that it is. My girlfriend and I tried the jasmine green tea and the honey green tea both with boba. The jasmine green tea wasn't sweet enough so make sure to try the drink before leaving! I thought my milk tea was going to come out instantly, but it took some time and right when I took the sip, I TASTED THE TEA AND COCONUT. BUT IT WAS EVEN LIKE SYRUP. There was texture to the tea and at first I thought it was from the coconut, but it was actually from the milk tea itself. I saw black specks and knew instantly that this wasn't powdered milk tea. The mango milk tea was superb as well. He usually nevers order mango milk tea from anywhere besides Verde, but rest assure, we can save gas and money, because 1, their milk teas are the shit. Saw a new boba place in downtown San Jose besides Hydration and I said wth why not, lets try it. I had a jasmine milk tea with pearls and the milk tea was good. I was able to taste the tea and it was not diluted with milk or the half and half milk. The pearls however... needs some improvement. It tasted really hard and really low quality. The tea was good but with low quality pearls.. meh, just ruins the drink because I kept on spitting them out. I also ordered a banana smoothie and this is one of the MAIN reasons why I am giving this place a 2. IT WAS WATERY AS FUCK (EXCUSE MY LANGUAGE). BUT WTF???? I reallly, reallllyy like Amor. So sad I haven't discovered this place sooner! I tried the white peach milk tea and the jasmine milk tea. The white peach tastes like candy, but it's not too sweet, so it's soo good, but I just wish you could taste more of the tea. The jasmine milk tea is near perfect! You can taste the tea, it's not too sweet, and not artificial-tasting. Whenever I come back, I just get their jasmine milk tea now. You can also get desserts. They have macarons, but they get them from New Leaf & just charge more for them... (so get them from New Leaf Market if you can). OH and make sure you get a stamp card! read more

3.5 $4.68 for a litchi yogurt green tea with pearls -- a little steep and okay in terms of the flavor profile. I personally am not a fan of the Yakult yogurt drinks and this is what the flavor reminded me of, overpowering the litchi. Given the price, I also expected some real fruit bits but there were none. The pearls however were absolutely perfect -- chewy with some give and in large abundance, filling up almost half the cup. Service was really helpful, greeted me upon entrance, and assisted me with my menu choice. My drink was made quickly and the sweetness was made to taste. Some perks of this shop include a smattering of indoor seating and some retail garage parking shared by the apartments above accessible via 4th Street. They also accept plastic with a $3 minimum and have a frequent buyer card. If in the area and craving boba, Amor Cafe warrants a visit or perhaps to hang out and nosh on some snow ice. I was in the SJSU area and, as always, was in the mood for a snack, so I decided to stop into Amor. When I walked in, I was kind of confused by the toppings "bar" (I guess you could call it that), and so I just walked up to the counter and proceeded to order my drink of choice. It wasn't until then that the guy pointed me back to the toppings station, where I saw the not-very-strategically-placed sign that said to choose your size and your toppings before taking it to the counter to order your drink. In my opinion, the sign should have been the first thing I saw when I walked in, but instead, it was mounted on the same wall as the door, so naturally, I didn't see it until I turned around at the counter. Hence my confusion (and that of the next group that came in). I got my cup and my toppings, and decided to get the Hokkaido milk tea per the barista's recommendation. But when I took my first sip, I found the taste to be very chemical-y sweet and quite overwhelming. I didn't even end up finishing it because it just wasn't very pleasant. Maybe I just got a bad one, or maybe their other drinks are better... The barista was nice though, so bonus points for that! read more

One of my favorite tea places in the area. Amor is conveniently located near the MLK library and right next to the newly renovated power bowl! I love coming here because the drinks have a strong tea flavor and the service is always so warm and friendly. My go to drink is the honey jasmine milk tea or the wintermelon milk tea. Pearls are always perfectly chewy which is a big plus. Seating is limited, maybe only 4-5 tables plus a table outside. They do provide free wifi which is on the receipt when you receive your drink. I ordered the wintermelon milk tea today and it tasted very off. Sour and spoiled tasting ): I came back and told one of the baristas and he re-made my drink! He explained that they were testing out a new recipe. Advice to management-if you're testing out a new recipe, I think it's fair to let people know. Service is impeccable. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised that this place wasn't just average, it was pretty good! I usually get the lavender and rose. I saw this place on yelp and tried it for the first time. They take card and cash. The boba is good but I came really for the desserts. The cake pops are so good and the macarons are yummy. We had red velvet and cookies & cream cake pops, raspberry and pistachio macarons, and tai milk tea and passion fruit black tea with pearls. Five people who ordered AFTER me received their drinks and I was really confused because I thought it was a first come first serve system... Boba is inconsistent, some were really hard and some were straight mush. Milk tea itself leaves a powdery taste in your mouth and I received no sweetness. I work a couple of door downs from this lovely place and I've seen other business come and go, but I think this place is a keeper! The owner and staff are super friendly which is key to the success of this place. I can trust their food is quality since its prepared right in front of you with fresh ingredients. Amor Cafe is a decent place to grab boba, but it isn't QUITE the best just yet. I ordered a large (33oz) red bean milk tea with pearls ($5.00). And upon first taste, I thought it was decent. But the taste gradually become a little too sweet and chalky (not like Quicklys though). I'll give them props for trying though! They offer a bunch of other snacks and sweets as well, and the interior is cozy enough for a small group of friends to hang out and talk/play games. Since it's probably the only decent milk tea place in San Jose, I guess I'll frequent this place more often for tea if I'm feenin' for a fix.
