We went for breakfast and ordered several dishes, all of which were very good and came in generous portions. The omelette came with house potatoes that were flavorful, but a bit greasy. The patio at Breakfast Republic is nice and breezy and perfect for people watching. Location wise, it's right smack dab in the middle of 2nd Street so you can do a lil shopping or run errands after you eat. For my entree, I ordered the jalapeño bacon cheddar sausage omelet ($16.50). Contrary to the description, it is not in fact a sausage comprised of all those things - it is an omelet filled with a jalapeño cheddar sausage, garlic, onion, chopped bacon, and cheddar cheese. This was exactly as advertised - the sausage was cheddar-y and smokey. The house-made hot sauce perfectly complemented each bite. I also like that they soften their butter and serve it on a side with some jam for a little toast moment. I also had bites of the Portuguese linguisa sausage scramble ($14). It is bacon, hot sauce, green bell pepper, garlic, tomato, thyme + oregano. This was good, but I prefer the omelet. I'm not sure the thyme + oregano were major contributors to the overall taste? The scramble was flavor wise a little less exciting. Breakfast Republic is a chain and on brand for 2nd Street. This place is okay. Can get pretty busy on the weekends during breakfast hour. The service was good, but there was a long wait when I came here on a Sunday morning (to be expected). I got the Eggs Benedict, it was decent but nothing too crazy. I might try something else if I ever come back here again. It was a 40 min wait to be seated and then we didn't get our food til about 30 min then. The hash browns were truly the worst part of it all. I hate it when they don't do anything with them. It tasted like bland potatoes that were undercooked. At least the drinks were ok so I wanted to give 2 stars then but honestly I would not ever go back to any of these places. Especially after I found out it was a franchise. Fully overhyped and you would have a better time and a way better value to your money if you went anywhere else on second street for breakfast. Came here with a friend bright and early on Saturday after landing at the long beach airport. Thankfully there wasn't much a wait and they have a small parking lot and we got an prime spot right in the front. There's seating inside and outside and we were able to get seated inside right away. The resturant was a bit smaller than what we envisioned but their proportion were HUGE! I got a salted caramel latte which was so delicious bbut definitely on the sweeter side. My friend and I got a flight of pacakes to share and we were barely able to make a dent on it. For my entree I got the breakfast burrito which was was stuffed generously. My mom is a small person and usually only eats half of everything but nope she cleaned her plate! My dad got one of their scrambles with the jurassic pork and cleaned his plate too (well he always does) but he said the whole thing was fabulous, including the berry spread that came with his toast. He got the mexican coffee (?) with cinnamon and it had a good flavor. I also got the oreo latte and yeah, its like delicious hot choco with some coffee. Honestly amazing and im not a coffee drinker. Starting with beverages, the cups were cute and fun and definitely made me smile. The silverware/napkin had a wrapping around it encouraging no phone use during the meal. I love this!!! (Just a few pics don't count, right?? ) The food was all served on sizable plates (aka this means portions were sizable as well) with the business name nicely printed. I actually thought it looked classy. Good thing food was flavorful and delicious, portions much bigger than expected so able to take home some leftovers, and service all matched the ambience and setup the restaurant had created. Cute little place in the heart of Belmont. Definitely a good spot to meet with friends for lunch. Service was great! They have street parking and a very small parking lot. If you're familiar with this area you can find a parking lot across the street and prepay off the app. Pancakes were okay not as fluffy as I'd hope but I was surprised they were not overly sweet. Would order again. The Chilaquiles were not up to par so these are a no go. Loved the Cafe de Olla and had about 3 refills and the "Cocky 12" which is a 12 hr brew coffee and honestly was nothing wow but I was impressed with and appreciated the coffee iced cubes.
