Growing up in the South, one would occasionally have the treat of a freshly baked good. Whether it was a family recipe sheet cake enjoyed during a special occasion, a cobbler at a church potluck, or cookies on behalf of a friend, baked goods were a part of the culture of Southern hospitality. For me, that is what Breadhaus reminds me of, my childhood. This bakery stands head and shoulders above the rest in the metroplex. Other bakeries should take notice. If you don't know what the "hype" is about this place, let me tell you. Petra and Mark use all organic flours, grains and seeds. I wanted to type that in all caps and underline it, make it flash and point arrows to that sentence, but you get the point. Where else can you find that anywhere around here? Never have I met 2 people who care more about the environment and the quality of our products they are providing to the public. They make all of their items from scratch, all day long. You never know when you are going to walk in and they are putting barely cooled Cinnamon buns or scones on the wooden display racks in front of you. The warm Congo bars, oh my goodness! Get one now. Almond squares, and trail bars as good as Mom's or Grandma's ever were. I get so nostalgic when I eat them. Purchase baked goods from even the area's best stores just do not taste like this anymore! If you want one of the more popular items go early, because items do sell out regularly, especially the bread.. the bread! will sell out. Let's talk about the bread. They shape their delicious European hearth breads by hand, then bake them on the oven floor of a deep European oven. The best part? They have no added sugars, fats, dairy or eggs, yet the taste is scrumptious! For me, there is no comparison to their Rye breads. I love them all. They offer 6 different types, depending on the day of the week. Their Gilroy garlic bread is also one of my favorites, as is the cranberry pecan, made with naturally sweet whole wheat and is so great for breakfast. I like to slice it super-thin and toast it crispy so the pecans really take on a dark nutty flavor before I top it. I also love the pretzel rolls - one of the regularly sold out items. They are perfect for my weekend Reuben sandwiches. Speaking of weekends, they are open on Saturday and if I end up there after the farmer's market, I cannot leave without the pain de menage, a very classic french bread they only have on Saturdays and great for a picnic. As well as some of the jalapeno cornbread, and my dad's favorite pecan pie. I'm not sure if it is the minimally processed ingredients, or all the love they put into what they bake, but there is something unmistakably wonderful about this place. read more

What a wonderful bakery! Everything is really fresh and delicious. I went there for the first time today and realized that I have really been missing out. The Garlic Gilroy bread is wonderful! As far as sweets go, my options were somewhat limited due to the fact that I can't eat certain nuts. However, the assortment was kindly explained to me and I was able to pick out some safe treats. I went to Breadhaus specifically to get the finnish sourdough rye flatbread because with a mild gluten intolerance I can eat real sourdough bread. I am very pleased that breadhaus makes authentic, fermented sourdough but the flavor was just kind of OK. I also bought a mini lemon cake and it was fine, nothing spectacular, though nice and moist. read more

After working in Grapevine and driving past the Breadhaus for nearly a year, I decided to venture inside. Being a hot Texas Friday, I was in no mood to dillydally and seeing as how the work bell had just rung, I was ready to get home. I popped off the main road and pulled into the parking lot, which was mostly vacant save for a couple of cars. When I got inside, there was a family deciding on what they wanted. Come on, come on, come on I thought to myself, as I eyed what was left of the days loaves. If this lady takes the only sourdough left I might implode! Good gracious they took their time picking sweet goodies and one, yes, one piddly loaf of bread in what seemed like FOREVER. Finally, my turn. Can I have a sourdough please, and the Mediterranean olive? Oh, and one of those Amerikaner cookies... what is that? Like a shortbread. Umm, okay, I'll take it! The lovely, quiet German lady behind the counter gave me a taste of both breads and rang up my goodies. The bread is wonderful, the store itself is totally cute complete with giant oven in full view of customers, and there is a ridiculous assortment of cookies, pies, cakes and fabulous looking dessert bars. It would take me a long while to try the entire spread. Not only do you have different options for bread every day (they have a set schedule of what is available both on their website and on a flyer in the store) but you get one of those awesome punch cards that eventually will grant you a free loaf of bread. After seeing a couple recent reviews of this place, I was reminded that I HAD to see what then fuss was about. And this is definitely a place to make a fuss over. I walked in with no specific plan of what to buy before I got there. I thought I'd see what they had and decide from there. Everything they had looked delicious and the place smells heavenly (curiously like bread!). Of course they have bread. They have whole grain and rye breads. They have specialty breads (like olive, garlic, jalapeno-corn, cranberry-pecan, etc.). They also have sweets like cookies, bars scones, cakes, pies, etc. They also have soft German pretzels. Some items are available daily and some only on certain days of the week (check the menu on their website). I got there at 11 one day during the week and they were already sold out of some things. The woman behind the counter mentioned that you can call early if there is something specific you want and they will hold it for you. Very good customer service! Anyway, I bought the following: * Gilroy Garlic Bread - excellent chewy crust with a fairly dense crumb and light roasted garlic flavor - I'd give it a '5' * Blackberry scones - surprisingly not dry like most scones (including mine), mild blackberry flavor and extremely delicious - another '5' * Apricot-Pecan bars - actually a breakfast cake cut into a bar shape rather than what I consider a bar (something with a shortbread crust), but who cares. It was super delicious and moist with tons of flavor. '5' again. *Pretzel - Wished I bought more than one. It never made it out of the parking lot. It was omg good. Not too much salt and that perfect chewy 'bite' on the outside and tender on the inside. This gets a '5+' from me. * Train Rolls - Moist and chewy and loaded with raisins. Not too sweet. Although it was yummy, I'd have to say it was my least favorite of the items I bought. I give it a '4.8'. From the sampling of things I bought, it's more than obvious this is a top-quality show. This is a hidden gem around dfw. One of fee authentic made from scratch breads, scones and sweets. My fave are the berry cake, scones, and cherry almond bread. It has been awhile since I was here so the cherry almond tasted off. It was more yellow and dry and not same texture. Also the scones were not as good ever since I had tried the ones from Bedford bakery. Today I tried the sweet potato bar which was moist and tasty despite it tasted like pumpkin spice than sweet potatoes. I also got the gilroy garlic bread sliced. It was soft and hint of garlic. When I die, this will be my heaven. The only downfall, in my opinion, is that they don't sell coffee. It doesn't need to be fancy, they don't need a barista or an espresso machine or anything... I mean a cup of Foldgers and some tables and chairs and this place would be 5 stars for sure. They do sell bottled teas and water and stuff, but a cup of joe would match all their desserts perfectly. After researching where to get good sourdough in Dallas I came across Breadhaus in Grapevine. I took the slight trek from Lewisville to their location off of William D. Tate and I was glad I did! Their building is a little nondescript location with a small storefront as you walk in the entrance. Now for the fun part! We purchased a loaf of sourdough (which they offered to cut, very nice!), four Bavarian pretzels, a pecan sandie and a lemon bar. We sampled the bread and pretzels, and both were out of this world! The lemon bar was excellent as well. I would make a trip to their location any time and I will be recommending them to friends and family! read more

I have been to this location twice now and I have been truly impressed with the quality of the breads. I have had the Rosemary Focaccia and Cranberry Pecan and they both were excellent. The biggest surprise for me is my love for the Train Rolls - basically a raisin and cinnamon spiced bread that can be eaten as a breakfast item or a snack. These things are slamming and they only cost $0.50 - you cannot beat that with an baseball bat.... Warmed up or straight out of the bag these rolls are quite lovely. From what I am told, they are also very healthy... Go over there and check them out.... Lots of other goodies as well. It's now 10/2017 and I continue to love this place. Mark and Petra add new temptations regularly, most recently a carrot cake cupcake/small cake that is out of this world! And it's "accidently" vegan, yet I dare anyone who loves carrot cake NOT to love this. If you haven't been, time for you to go. Consistently wonderful baked goods. I've been coming here for as many years as they've been here and over time, I've watched the list of vegan sweets grow. Oh, they aren't billed as vegan, nor is the fact hidden. Petra and Mark are just willing to experiment to see how a product would taste if it was made vegan and they have struck on a magic formula as far as I'm concerned. Some of my favorites are the apple and peach streusel, conga (?) bars, sweet potato bars, little chocolate cakes that I call cupcakes but they don't, various cookies, cherry chocolate knot rolls, train rolls. On our last day in Dallas Texas we wanted to eat baked fresh home pecan pie and we found BreadHaus bakery and it was really good, but the only thing that we where not happy about was we wanted couple of slices of the chocolate pecan pie but they told us we needed to buy all the pie. read more
