This review is solely for the ceviche and sauces. They prepare it so well and the sauces alone make the restaurant worth going to. They always bring out some housemade sauces to the table and you can order more for a fee (which I gladly pay because it's worth it). Particularly the haucatay sauces (spicy and mild) and the rocoto sauce (spicy). EDIT: I am changing my review from 5 stars to 2 stars because the owner was rude to my mother. They generally do not have great customer service. As you can see from other reviewers, it is not an isolated issue. Personally, I think that a restaurant should post the hours that they will receive customers, not the hours that they will allow you to sit in the restaurant and then rush you out. It seems that the owner expects people to not come close to closing time and will make you get take out even if you drove there from far away. On top of it all, they will not be nice or apologetic about it. It is not as if the kitchen was closed, they just want to rush you out of the restaurant before it is even closed. I saw another reviewer also complain about being turned away because they got there 20 minutes before closing even after they drove an hour to get there and brought a friend from out of the country. I don't know why I don't go here more often. Seriously, my wife is Peruvian. I LOVE good Peruvian food, and I work RIGHT down the street! I just always forget about this as an option for lunch meetings! Today, I met someone here for a lunch meeting upon his recommendation. SO glad he reminded me of this place. I love the little roasted corn kernels they give you. Could use a little salt in my opinion but still great! I had the lunch special with chicken and fried yuca, and an order of Papas a la Huancayina (a fave of mine). The kitchen was a little slow today. The server was super on-point and checked in on us regularly, including to let us know the printer in the back was broken and the cooks weren't getting the orders properly because of it, so they got behind. No biggie! The food came quickly thereafter. The chicken was AWESOME. GREAT smokey flavor...almost bbq style, minus bbq sauce. And the accompanying white sauce is legit. The yuca was fried perfectly. The papas were as good as always, but maybe could use a little salt too, and a touch more ahi. I like the kick that ahi brings! I'll be going here more often as long as I'm working in this area. I was in the neighborhood running some errands when I discovered Brazas. It's a cute, homey, and authentic Peruvian restaurant. My bf and I enjoyed a whole chicken with salad, rice, and beans, which also came with a good selection of dipping sauces. My personal favorite was the oil-based sauce with a mixture of herbs. The chicken was flavorful and roasted very well. As well, the salad was particularly good because of the fresh avocados and garlic dressing. Very cute restaurant with a nice authentic menu. We ordered the papas a la huancaina to start. It is basically cold boiled potatoes in a mild cream sauce. It was good but not spectacular. The waiter brought out an array of sauces 4 mild and 2 hot. All of the sauces were amazing but my favorite were the two spicy ones as they had incredible flavor! I ordered the lunch special with chicken, rice, beans and salad for $8.99. A good price for the quantity of food. I loved the beans and rice both were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The chicken was good but I have had better Peruvian chicken before. My boyfriend had the lomo saltado which he enjoyed. The beef was tender and not over cooked and the sauce was good. One of my friends recommended I come to this place for the sides and that's what I got & they were really good! The rice and beans were amazing, tostones were really good (not very seasoned but I add the special Peruvian hot sauce and it was delicious) the yuca fries were good and the avocado salad was so so yummy! The dressing definitely made it come together. One of my friends tried the bistec and didn't love it, thought it was too salty. (3/26/2018) Have stopped in twice already to have lunch during a weekday. So far, this is the group's fave spot for Peruvian pollo a la brasa. The quarter chicken lunch combo with your selection of a side and a drink is a steal, also comes with a nice green salad and garlicky ranch dressing. The seasonings are savory, not too salty. Sometimes the chicken we get is a touch dry, but we moisten it up with yellow aji (very mild and creamy) and chimichurri (with fresh parsley). It's a fairly small place, does a brisk business at lunch time, it's cozy inside, lots of leftover decor from what seems to be an Americana diner. We always get the same one server, very nice guy, hustles when it's busy. Place is tucked away at the end of that weird plaza where Holden meets Orange Avenue, it even has it's own traffic light. Come here if you love chicken! Great rotisserie options, however they have fewer Peruvian items compared to other restaurants. The few dishes that are available are still flavorful and big in portion. They played a lot of Classic American music videos, and overall is a small casual setting in an unflattering plaza. There aren't many places that will serve you this much food at lunchtime for prices like these and with ABBA & Olivia Newton-John singing "Xanadu" in the background. I arrived at Brazas today just after they opened and they filled up with patrons QUICKLY. Yes, it was lunchtime but this nondescript plaza with the challenging road construction out front to get through is not where you'd think to go for chicken and rice and plantains and salchipapas on a Tuesday afternoon. That kind of foot traffic is driven here because of the food. Take a look at the pics posted. All that yummy for LESS THAN $10! C'mon!!! Wait a minute, are they playing "Caribbean Queen" by Billy Ocean?! Whatever happened to that guy??? That seals it...I'm never leaving. As a Peruvian, I've had pollo a la brasa (Peruvian rotisserie chicken) more times than I could ever count. I've had it dozens of times in Lima, and at several Peruvian restaurants all around the country. Brazas' version of pollo a la brasa is some of the best (and most budget-friendly) I have had. The meat is always flavorful through and through, juicy, and tender. The different versions of ají (Peruvian chili/hot sauce) are so wonderfully delicious! The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and I've never left disappointed. Beyond the pollo, they have incredible ceviche and lomo saltado. I will start off with saying that the food is delicious. Now you'll ask so why did you give it three stars? The prices have gone up within the years and they only have one option of size on the menu which is a little ridiculous when yo usually go in with a family. However the option we always go with is the family portion option which can easily feed four or more depending on how you eat of course. It comes with an entire chicken, Maduros, rice and beans, salad, and salchipapa all for like less then $40 which is a steal. The food always comes out quick and fresh... they do not have a full bar nor do they really have like AC. So when you go in for dinner and it's packed make sure you go dressed super light the temperature goes up quick inside! They have some TVs and always play good music the service is good as well. They need some renovating a revamping of their menu options for sure to make it 4-5 star in my opinion. read more

I walked in (also accompanied by someone) and was greeted immediately, sat and looked at the menu . Fast forward, we get our drinks & we more or less had steak in mind so we ordered - lomo saltado, & a steak (not breaded) with the rice and fries that it comes with. Whilst waiting for our meals, I can't help but notice that our waitress was belittling her colleagues in front of other customers & becoming visibly impatient because someone else took her table *Please don't argue in front of people , it looks bad* She then brought our meals & we noticed that the steak didn't have sautéed onions like we have in other Peruvian restaurants , so I got up to request a side order of cooked onions to complete the dish She then raised her voice "no, can't do that , sorry," I asked if it was additional, and she said "no, owner won't do it" My Lomo had sautéed onions , btw. Anywho, I sat back down and she came back to repeat the fact that she couldn't get the sautéed onions for us. Ok. No problem. We later ask for a refill on the ají and sauces , she goes , ok let me tell you something , the first tray of sauces are complimentary. So If you want more I'm gonna charge you 50 cents per refill We said ok, no worries that's fine. The approach was unprofessional, the food was subpar , the experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons. We won't be going there again. Oh - prices- they're reasonably priced and give large portions. You want a better place to visit- check out Pollos y jarras in Miami. Chicken rules here, but steak and fish (fried) are available as well. The $8.29 lunch special is a bargain. You can choose between a large portion of fish or a quarter chicken, with a simple salad, a drink, and a side of green or sweet plantains, French fries, rice and beans, yucca, or fried sweet potato. I ordered the fish. I'm not sure what kind of fish it was -- fried fish always tastes the same to me; and my side choice of arroz con frijotes (rice and beans) was big. The beans were tasty. Others have mentioned the fine array of sauces. Our party of four dined at Brazas in mid-afternoon after bowling, and even at that time of day the restaurant had a good crowd. Dinner selections range in price from $5.49 to $30.99 - quite a range. Some of the appetizers sound good but prices can be high. The available desserts sound tempting. The service was friendly and just right. Since this is directly on our route home after Tuesday bowling, I'm sure we'll go here frequently now that we've discovered it. read more

I get the ceviche at least once a week! I love eating in or take out. Either way... It's the best in town! This is about $13 but it's worth it, and enough to share between two people. The menu was small because it was Sunday but I will for sure be back to try the normal menu. Service was very quick and so helpful. Apparently having a large order doesn't deserve a small favor. Well that's what makes and brakes restaurants. The little extra effort goes a long way if they try. The lady serving us seemed annoyed from the get go, or maybe that's her normal look. People in the restaurant business should be nice and welcoming with a smile.(real smile). You do feel a little lost when you enter the restaurant, it is very confined and standing in the middle of the room is awkward. The chicken at Brazas is very good and extremely cheap (you can get an entire roast chix here for little or nothing, so bring the whole family), but what we crave and the reason we keep returning is: CEVICHE. I am a slave to excellent ceviche, and that is what you will find here. They give you an enormous portion and it comes with these amazing, giant crunchy roasted corn kernels. I love them so much that I just order an extra side of them. The other reviewers are correct about the service, though. It is unhurried and unconcerned. The guys (which they invariably are), are smiling and friendly, but they will get to you when they get to you. The ceviche is totally worth the wait, though.
