We had just completed a tour of the fortress,Veste Oberhaus. While at one of the lookout points in the fortress, we had an amazing view of the town below. Our tour guide had pointed out where the town brewery was and we set off to eat in a traditional German brewery. Well, we found the brewery only to find that it moved and there was this little Italian restaurant inside. They did say that they still get deliveries from the brewery so at least we would still get the beer. We had just walked through the town and across two bridges, so we walked up an appetite and I never say no to Italian. The ambiance was romantic, but was still family friendly. (Maybe the romance was in my head). The staff was very friendly. There is no specific server. I think it is the owner and his family there as well as some other help. Okay, onto the food. SERIOUSLY, THE BEST LASAGNE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! It is most shocking since, I don't know, we were in GERMANY! It comes in the dish that it is baked in, instead of on a plate. Mary ordered the Penne Pesto and she said it was excellent. If you do dine here, just relax. You will not get the bill in a timely fashion, and for us, that was perfectly fine. We were really just checking out the scenery, and watching the other patrons interact. The beer was good and we had a great experience. Plus the walk back to our ship was much needed with such happy bellys. GET THE MEAT LASAGNE!!! Or pesto. They are both excellent, BUT THE LASAGNE!!!
