Lots of kids want to learn to play the drums, but very few teachers can really work with children…read moreof all ages to grow the musicians of the future. Hanne is the rare teacher that can connect with children, help them build technique and musicality, and have fun doing it! Our son has been working with Hanne since he was young, and under her guidance he's grown into a very capable drummer. Beyond simply curriculum, Hanne understands how teach drummers as they grow both physically and mentally. I can think of no better teacher if your child is interested in taking up the drums!

I have been a student of Hanna's for over three years and I am so grateful to have found her. She…read moreis an amazing drummer, a terrific teacher and one of the most wonderful human beings I know. She has been a drummer and musician since childhood, is professionally trained and has played with some of the best known bands in venues all over the world. She has deep expertise in and can teach a diverse range of musical styles from rock to R&B, blues, jazz and so much more. She is patient, attentive and, above all, deeply invested in helping her students develop as drummers without losing their love and enthusiasm for the art form. Because for Hanna, you're not drumming if you're not having fun and she is such a great teacher because she is always working to keep her students interested and engaged. Hanna accepts students at all ages and skill levels--I was 29 and a beginner when I first started--and she strives to give her students every opportunity to learn and grow. One of the most valuable tools she provides are workshops where you get to learn a song and then play it with a live band. I've participated in several and, as someone who had never played the drums before, this has not only been an incredibly invaluable learning experience, it has enhanced my love of drumming and given me confidence to play with other musicians. Her workshops also serve as a showcase of sorts for how great of a teacher Hanna is because you get to see her other students play as well, many of whom have been with her for many years and have blossomed into amazing drummers in their own rights. I can't say enough about how terrific Hanna is. I feel very fortunate to have her as a teacher and am confident that anyone who chooses her will feel the same way.

I've visited Guitar Center numerous times to purchase equipment and also show off my own builds…read more On this occasion, I had called the repair manager about diagnosing and repairing an issue in one of my self-built custom instruments-- microphonic pickups. The repair manager unhesitatingly tried out my instrument with an amp and confirmed the issue. He then took the pickups out to confirm that the foam under them was adequate and not loose, and reinstalled them. Then he tried the instrument again with a proper bass amp. His feedback was helpful and he explained why he felt the pickups inherently have slight microphonic effects at high gain settings. He just did this as a favor at no charge, which I greatly appreciated-- I even tried to buy something as a thank-you, but he just laughed. On the way out, I showed the bass to another employee and he loved it, and gave some helpful feedback, as well. I left the store with the impression that these guys just love instruments and everything about them, which is how a musical instrument store should be.

The funny part was when I asked him about certain models, he google searched and read the content back to me. Hmmm... could have done that myself with more efficiency but giving him credit for the effort. The second staff had no interest to serve me obviously, sharing little information on the differences of the models while hoping to land a sale with such hasty service. No thank you. If your intention is to come in for more information on the products that you see online, then spare yourself a trip.
