I love Brasitas. It's a bit pricey but the food is great. Great vibe. Have been there on several occasion.

The guacamole was inedible. My dad had to go to the bathroom to spit it out. The owner was thoroughly rude and unapologetic the moment we sat down. The waiter spilled the salsa all over the table and didn't clean it up. After we were positive the waiter would not clean it up we used a napkin from another (unused) table to clean it up. The waiter was upset and extra rude to us for this reason. The rest of the food was mediocre except for the fact that guacamole was smeared all over the salmon. The restaurant looked nice and their salsa was great. If you want to come for salsa come here, otherwise it's pretty gross. read more

Delicious, delicious, delicious! While the location (in a strip mall near the Merritt 7 complex) is pretty lame, the restaurant itself wonderfully decorated and nice. For great margaritas, moijtos (with an actual sugarcane) and great food, Brasitas can't be beat. Ribs and tacos in the appetizer menu are great, had yummy oxtail taco as a special. Love their steaks, too. Oh, and the fresh salsa with chips is amazing. Reasonably priced though not cheap, I feel like you get what you pay for. I am really not sure about why this has such a low rating. This place easily stood out as serving me the best meal that I have had in a month. I ordered the chimmichuri steak with a small salad, and it was just incredible. The banana chips and salsa were wonderful, and the tres leches desert was a perfect ending to my meal. Although I spent $75 for a 3-person lunch, that DID include a healthy tip and a cocktail. The food was SPECTACULAR, and the service over-the-top! This was a celebratory meal to celebrate my 16-year-olds' driving permits, and they were very happy and plan to return soon! read more

Great place. Solid menu. Unimpressed by drink list. Brasitas is great place to take a group of people for a fun night out. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. While the food is generally great, there are some dishes that are not that good and border on "blah." For example, the red snapper is phenomenal--moist on the inside, crunchy and flavorful on the outside. While the arroz con pollo is pretty unimpressive. Being a little more adventurous really pays off at Brasitas. The plantains and salsa are awesome, you could have a great time munching on a order and sipping on a beer. Speaking of beer--stick to it or the other standard "latin cocktails" with the exception of the caipirinha which uses a pretty narly tasting cachaca. read more

Great food! I got the sea bass and my boyfriend got the porkchops and we both left very satisfied. I got a pisco sour that was only ok, but very strong. The first order of plantain chips were free and a fun alternative to you're regular tortilla chips. There guacamole is also freshly made and to die for! A great spot for a date night :) read more

At the bar for "Happy Hour", me not happy! Bartenders completely screwed us, a $5 drink turned into an $11 drink. My date was asked if she wanted coconut shavings in her drink, she said yes and boom the price more than doubled. Great restaurant. Friendly, prompt staff. Delicious food. I've taken numerous visitors from out of town here. When someone visits me from Germany or Seattle, we inevitably take them to Brasitas in Norwalk. This is the kind of place where I'll take my wife on our anniversary but also grab takeout after a long day. From the plantain chips to the bistec al caballo to the sangria, it's all wonderful. This place has good reviews and I was staying in Norwalk and it was right down the street so I decided to give it a try! I must say the plantain chips and salsa are fantastic! ! The place was busy and the food coming out of the kitchen looked good although the menu was different from what is online. I decided to try the short rib ! The presentation was great, the risotto was delicious as was the sauce that came with it but the short rib itself was extremely dry and tasteless, it was so dry I almost could not eat it but had to wash it down with water! I don't like to complain but I wish I had ordered something else and I didn't want to cause a scene but based on this it is one of the worse meals I have ever eaten ! I would go back again and give them another try but obviously I would not order this ! Sorry for the bad review but it is what it is! read more

We went on a Thursday evening and the service was awful. It wasn't crowded when we got there and the service was slow but it got even worse as the place filled in. The only one who seemed to be working was the kid who served the food and bussed the tables. The rest of the waitstaff did a lot of standing around making sure to avoid eye contact. My wife and I had dinner last night. We weren't really hungry so we wanted something light. My wife had the pear salad and I had the ham flatbread. She enjoyed the salad very much along with the $10 mojitos. The flatbread tasted good but was quite greasy. They also have a good selection of beers although they don't have a list to look at. My go-to for Latin enspired food. So much more than arepas and empanadas, rice and beans. Although I will say, I love the rice here. Food: Dishes are well plated and generous, very good across the board considering the vast menu. I highly reccomend the pork chop and the ceviche. Service: I read a couple negative reviews, and maybe I tip well and people remember me, but I always have friendly, fun and accomodating service here. I went to the Norwalk location because I thought it would be just as good to Stamford... But I was wrong what a dissapointment all of the food we had didn't rise to the level of stamford it's ten times better the mojitos we got were loaded with rum didn't taste refreshing and minty. When we asked for more plaintain chips btw they give you a small serving of them.. They wanted to charge 5.00 for more.. Stick with the Stamford location you will leave happy.. read more

After having food take about an hour to be served, the hostess had the audacity to pick up our payment and ask us to give up the table because they had other people waiting at the bar. We cut our conversation short and left with not intention of returning and bringing back any friends or business clients. A two hour dinner is an acceptable time for a restaurant with high prices but it is unacceptable for a restaurant to not know how to manage their tables. Was not at all impressed with the food, place or service. The place is ridiculously overpriced for what they serve you on the plate. Every dinner entrée is $25 or more with little food on the plate. They want to come across as if they are a high end restaurant when they really aren't. Can get the same south American great tasting food at many other restaurant for $10 to $15 an entrée. Place is small and they take really long to bring the food out, at lease 30 to 40 minutes. The blackbeans came dry tasted as if it was right out of a can. No flavor. I had tons of people tell me they had a great experience at this restaurant as well as their Stamford location--but I was very disappointed because the fare is not cheap. The seating arrangement we had was uncomfortable and loud and the service was not the best and for what they charge per plate it should have been better. I am an adventurous eater and I ordered a fish dish only to discover not described in the menu that the entree came with the head and tail still on it. Yuck! It was almost 200.00 for dinner and not worth it! read more

By far the best Cuban sandwich I have ever had. Whenever I get the craving for a Cuban I always satisfy it at Brasitas. Love this place!!
