Tried this place on friend's recommendation. First we went to Brar's Advance boulevard location. They didn't allow us to sit as it was already 8.34 pm. On google closing time is mentioned as 9 pm. Bit disappointing for us. We travelled more than 40kms to reach this place. Staff suggested to go Bovaird branch. We ordered Brar's thali, Chole bhature, bread pakora, pani puri, alu tikki, sarso saag , makka roti and tandoori roti. I heard about this place very much so my expectations was high also. After trying I was bit disappointed. Sarso saag and makka roti were missing authenticity. Chole was ok but not anything special. Pani puri was ok only. I think tandoori roti they didn't use whole wheat. They served rasmalai with thali and it was very normal rasmalai for me I have tried in Canada. Nicely decorated quite large casual dining for Indian traditional and street foods. Location is good, easy find with ample parking inside the big plaza. Food is good to average. Pakora Platter is good. We loved the Bhel Puri (street food). Stuffed Parata was ok. The Dosa was disappointing, it did not look at all like the one in the menu picture. Sece is one of the areas which needs to improve to offer better customer experiences. read more

Ordered manchurian on September 18th. It was awful. Way too spicy, poor preparation. Will never order from here again. I really expect the quality I pay for and will definitely want others to be careful while ordering from here. Whether eating out is necessity or choice, the food should be served at its best. Went for lunch with husband and we didnt want anything heavy as lots of indian food is, but we tried it anyways. we both were more than satisfied with food amount and quality. Visited following bridal lengha shopping in the area with my mom and soon to be mother in law. We ordered dokhla and tandoori mushrooms appetizers to start. Both were super tasty dishes and loaded with lots of flavour. For my main, I chose the veggie thali, my mom went with the channa curry, and my mother in law selected their dosa. Everything was really tasty, carefully plated, and truly hit the spot. Nice level of spice in every dish but not too over the top. At the end of our meal, our waitress brought us all small pieces of complimentary jalebi candy to enjoy. What a sweet touch! Our waitress was super nice but since she seemed to be the only person serviing the restaurant, it did take a while to get our bill at the end. Will be back to visit again someday soon! read more

It wasn't a horrible experience but definitely won't be back... The layout of the restaurant is beautiful, however I didn't see all of it because I ordered takeout. The food: Meh at best, I found the naan to be a bit on the drier side, tasted more burnt than garlic so that was just a big fail for me because I love garlic naan - they have a platter type of deal where you get 3 curries, a side of rice and dessert or yoghurt. However the portion of rice given is so small, you don't really have anything to eat the curry dishes with.... Service: needs to be improved. I had a lady help me out with the menu, because I'm not familiar with the vegetarian dishes and she was helpful. However I didn't like the vibes I got from the other female who came to hand me my food. I'm literally staring at my mango lassis and telling the girl to give me the drinks. I recently visited Brar's for dinner on a Saturday night with my family. We decided to try this location because we didn't want to eat a buffet dinner and we heard this one was exclusively a-la carte. The menu is pretty large, with all of the classic Indian dishes you'd expect to see at an Indian restaurant. Their prices weren't too bad either, with most main entrees coming in around $12-14. The portion sizes were also quite large which made the prices quite reasonable. Most of the table (we were a large group of 8), ordered the thali. It was nice because it was customizable and there was a full page on the menu dedicated to all the different options available for the thali. We were able to choose the bread we wanted, 3 curries as well as raita or salad. The portions of each curry were pretty big and all the food arrived to the table quite hot. The thali also came with a dessert so it was a pretty good deal and a good option if you wanted to have a little bit of everything. I also had a chance to try the dahi papri chaat and the dosa and both items were also quite tasty. The sambar that came with the dosa was particularly good. The service wasn't great though. My sister's food was the only item that hadn't come and it was over 15 minutes late. Everyone else at the table was close to being finished eating by the time her food arrived. Service: The service was terrible from the get go. We called prior to our visit to get a reservation since our group size was 8 but they said they don't do reservations. We arrived to the restaurant early to secure the table. It took 10 minutes for someone to approach us at the door to get a table. As the first employee approached us and trying to find us a table 5 others approached shortly after to try and help us but kept asking if we had made a reservation. We told the individuals that we tried making a reservation it were told over the phone that reservations can't be made. We eventually got our table and the service continued to be bad. Our server Kummis was excellent, kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. The food is really good, nice portions and the price very affordable for vegetarian Indian food. I didn't missed the meat! Best part of the menu is natural juices. It is worth trying this place you will not regret it! read more

I was looking to explore Indian food in Brampton and I landed up at Brar's for tonight. The hospitality, service and ambience we received, will be a reason to visit this place again in addition to the delicious food. We ordered a Thali. The curries, Dessert, Naan, everything was very close to the Indian taste. You get more varieties here than any other place, and is easy on the pocket. Special mention of the supervisor Karandeep for her management skills. Despite of a hectic day(obvious at a food joint of this size), she ensured proper attention and care was given to all guests, and in parallel she ensured she keeps her staff motivated which is a very good trait and will take her a long way. Worst service ever. Extremely rude workers. Simply asked to "clear the table" to one of the waitresses and she said you guys are asking me to do stuff because I am an international student. I simply asked to get the table cleared and she heard it as "clean the table". I don't care who you are I asked you to clear the table and you take it personally that I am telling you to do ur job bc your an "international student". Very small tables and they kept shoving more food on the table and didn't pick up ANY of the empty plates. I have been Brar customer for years but now onwards I have to change my mind as their service is going to the drain especially the Bovaird and Airport location in Brampton. Looks like this location is not related to the one at Advance and Dixie. Looking to the service and the attitude of the servers and the mgr., they have to really think about it now as there are lot many options in Brampton and GTA. The monopoly days are gone. I would like to let everyone know that I bought some dhokla for pick up and they didn't supply any chutney and the green chilli at all. When I called them after reaching home, the girl on the phone gave me the store credit which was not honoured today( 09/21/2019) by the mgr. rather he was trying to prove me wrong with an attitude. This is not at all accepted. So I request the owner to please intervene as there re a lot of complaints at this location and believe me with this kind of attitude your days are numbered. Ordered a hot brownie with ice cream, and it came with plastic pieces inside it. I removed the pieces onto a separate plate. A man who appeared to be the manager (was wearing a blue shirt)came, saw the plastic, took away the plate with the pieces on them. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the plastic pieces. He made no comment, and did not apologize. Only offered a new brownie. But I had lost my appetite at that point. Not the best customer service and I'm afraid that I may have consumed some plastic. When this location opened nearby I was very happy and went with same faith here not once but twice, the food tastes different n the staff is rude. I ordered cholle bhature and it was very bad experience. The bhaturas were very oily and they were not even properly puffed up. I told the waiter that i needed it to be fully puffed before order but either it was my bad day or their food is like that. When confronted the waiter, he brought a new one which was also similar to the first two and then I came to know that they haven't seen how a fully puffed bhatura looks like. I am giving this review for the food I had. I had a very bad experience with their Paratha's. I ordered Paneer and Potato parantha and it was dough layer with plain paneer in it. No taste at all. I found it bit expensive as it costs $12 for 1 paratha. There are better options out there. read more

Last Saturday we were at Tandoori flame in Mississauga, could not get in, there was long wait. I called Brar's at airport and Bovaird to reserve for six people, staff mentioned that there should be no problem if you show up within fifteen minutes. Once we got there, told the lady staff that we called and the gentleman said seating will not be a problem there is no wait. She said wait there is table number 26 for six, give us two minutes I will take you in, then again another server came and mentioned, we will take you in. In the meantime I was watching there was a guy probably manager talking to the lady staff. Ater few minutes he came up to us and asked "May I help you". On mentioning that I had called, he said I spoke to him. So why would be asking me May I help you, knowing that what we are there for, this is lame and unprofessional. He said we have to wait 45 minutes and there are two families waiting in front of me and one lady is pregnant, dah. Really unprofessional way of dealing . I had guests from US and it was embarrassing. We left for Boston Pizza and met courteous staff had good food. These indian restaurant people need to learn how to behave. My mom who is vegetarian is visiting me, so we took her to Brar's. the waitress was nice however our chana bhatura were cold and seemed stale. Then we ordered three vegetarian thalis. I had a long hair strand in my food which went in my mouth and i had to pull it out. eeks....never had hair in my food anywhere. I kept quiet since I did not want to spoil my family's mood. But when the hair came in my halwa too,I could not take it anymore. Not only it is disgusting to have hair in the food, it is a health issue as well.
