Brainerd International Raceway, Indian Motorcycle's home turf, was a flurry of activity for King of the Baggers as always. Motorcycle races started early and ran throughout the day for the event, and everyone loved listening to them roar as they zipped by and watching them turn corners so low to the ground that kneepads were literally skidding on the asphalt. I was there as a Harley Davidson representative. The HD footprint is located towards the back of the raceway, so it was fun seeing which brands had turned out for the event and watching everyone set up for the day every morning as we walked pass. It's an outdoor space, so expect food trucks and portapotties. From what others on the HD team commented, food offerings were meh. Pack or buy a lunch to bring if inclined. If you are there early as part of a big event as opposed to a guest for said event, the portapotty hand sanitizer dispensers *may* not be filled yet, so maybe bring some alongside that lunch. Just saying. The raceway entrance is located beside VP Racing Fuels gas station. Massive trucks covered that entrance on my way in, so I completely missed the entrance and turned into said gas station for directions before dancing around the multiple unloading trucks to get to the raceway entrance. The attendants at the entrance were lovely and helpful in getting my credentials. Heads up: The gas station doesn't have a restroom either, just another portapotty. Local gas prices were such a nice reprieve given the spikes in metro areas. If you happen to be staying a half-hour north of the raceway, gas prices drop even further, and there's a little motel up there I'd highly recommend as well. read more

Family camping is not worth the money until they disallow the loud obnoxious open framed generators. You pay for piece and quiet but yet can't have a conversation during the day OR night due to these ridiculous generators inconsiderate people bring and run ALL DAY long. read more

I've been driving at this track for about 5 years with the Porsche club, Slow pokes and the BIR Performance school. The old track was ok, very fast but treacherous when it was wet because of the chemicals on the drag strip which was part of the old track. They have recently added a new configuration called the club track and it is awesome. Lots more turns and much more fun. read more

Great facility for Minnesota. I have been here for many events having a great time but have to say that the customer service is severely lacking. I have had issues with making camping reservations where they made it difficult, and lent no suggestions when there were questions. Also issues at the front gate, and being sent in circles when trying to get simple information. You know the situation where the person on the other end knows exactly how to take care of the situation but would rather see you suffer and just keeps asking what would you like to do? The food is also over priced, and sub par in quality. Even if the price was lowered I would not recommend eating their offerings. If I had to make any suggestions I would say come for the races, stay at a local campground or hotel, and bring food to make or eat off site. I would rate it 5 stars for the racing action and from the participants point of view. I would rate it zero to one star from the fans point of view. This facility caters more to the racer than the fan. Something needs to change. read more

I attended the time trials yesterday (8/11/17), if i owned that track, the people in charge of maintenance on the starting tree would be looking of a new job. There is no excuse for those delays. I sincerely hope you have this equipment "looked over" by next week when NHRA shows up. Never mind NHRA will have their own "reliable" equipment there. Along with competent technicians available. I do have one question, are you people in the least embarrassed by what happened yesterday? It certainly wasn't funny, not the way your technical people were laughing about it. The most important part of the track is the starting tree, and what I witnessed yesterday was gross incompetence. read more

I participated in the driving school at BIR and it was a fantastic event! This was nothing short of a 5 star experience. If you have a car enthusiast you know treat them to a gift certificate to BIR. Gary Curtis and his crew at the track were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The instructional class in the morning was much shorter then I expected. In no time I was waiting in the paddock getting ready to hit the track with my super cool instructor Anthony Downs. Throughout the day I nearly logged 3 accumulative hours of driving time on the track both with Anthony in the car and solo. Anthony was nothing short of an ideal instructor in my opinion. He made the experience better then I expected. The staff at the track went out of their way to make us feel welcome and keep us comfortable the whole day. My fiancé accompanied me and she was entertained by the other instructors and staff while I was out tearing up the track. I'm seriously considering having my bachelor party at the track and making this trip on an annual basis. Cheers to Gary Curtis and the BIR Driving School, I'm a fan! read more
