Brain Sprints has been life changing for my son and now our grandson! My son's dream of going to college is now a reality. I highly recommend Brain Sprints! We have been working with Jan at Brain Sprints for the past 1.5 years. My daughter now 13 has grown leaps and bounds since completing the program this month. When we first started my daughter was struggling to read, concentrate, focus, couldn't retain information and hated school and learning. My youngest son was still a baby when we realized that something wasn't quite right. The pediatrician was concerned, but neither of us could pin point anything except that he was delayed in reaching developmental stages. The pediatrician would set a developmental stage deadline and my son would literally come up to the day of or the day before of the deadline before he would start performing that activity, whether it was sitting, crawling, walking, etc. We made the decision to home school our kids and I started going to seminars offered by Little Giant Steps at home school conventions to see what I could do to help my son. Meanwhile, my niece had severe auditory processing disorder and I introduce Little Giant Steps to my sister-in-law. She enrolled my niece in Little Giant Steps. Though my niece was 13, she was reading and functioning below grade level, unable to follow simple directions such as, "Put a hot dog in a bowl of water in the microwave", and in general, unable to function at a basic level for a child much less a 13 year old. Within three years she was reading at a high school level, preparing meals for the family, involved in community, working in a camp kitchen, and many other significant improvements. She was like a new person in many ways. It was so encouraging! Little Giant Steps literally changed her life! She is now in college, something that we didn't think would be a part of her life journey. We had a young lady move in with us who came from an emotionally and physically abusive home. She was developmentally delayed as a young adult. We enrolled her in Little Giant Steps, hoping that it would help her to cope with life and to function as a young adult in society. She is now a mom of three children and is doing the exercises with her own children. As soon as we were able, we enrolled our son in Little Giant Steps. School had become a battleground full of frustration, emotional meltdowns, seeming to master a new concept, then the next day as if he had never seen or heard of it before. All of us were beside ourselves. We were trying to do everything we could to help him, he was doing everything he could to succeed. We started doing his exercises and we began seeing improvement. The emotional meltdowns were becoming less frequent, he was beginning to grasp concepts and hold on to them. We continued the cycle of an evaluation followed by a new group of exercises each 4 months. After a couple of evaluation rounds, our son was reading years ahead of grade level. We continued Little Giant Steps for a couple of years, maybe two and a half. Our son is now enrolled in an advanced academic homeschooling program and thriving. He has grown so much in confidence, not just in school, but as a young man. People comment to us all the time how different he is. And he is. We are so grateful! As parents, we were sick with the thought that he would struggle so desperately for the rest of his life. That is no longer a concern. We see him thriving now and we know he will continue to thrive and to grow. Jan and the Little Giant Steps staff are so compassionate, so helpful, and will do anything to help you and your child grow, succeed, to encourage you as you push through the obstacles. Dr. Jan is fantastic. We have been with Brain Sprints for over a year and it has been absolutely Wonderful to see my daughter make such positive progress and improvements! Changing our lives! My 7 year old son could not focus long enough to get dressed in the mornings. I was completely frustrated and exhausted after constantly redirecting him all day long while caring for my other children as well. We began working with Dr. Jan and within 4 weeks my son was able to get dressed all by himself without any redirecting at all! His ability to focus is improving daily and he's able to play outside without wandering away (before he was so impulsive that he didn't stop to think first), he can follow directions with his school work, and actually complete tasks like picking up toys or putting away laundry.
