I went here yesterday to make copies of contract-related material. I went back today to scan those…read moresame documents. I thought I could scan at home but couldn't, and the Huntersville library is closed for renovations. On my first day here (yesterday), I watched a man on a computer sneeze directly into his hands and continue typing, I walked by a little girl who coughed twice loudly without covering her mouth, and I accidentally dropped my change so all the coins went rolling under the bookshelves. I literally got on my hands and knees to search and collect the change--they were quarters! Today I went back and let the librarian know that I hadn't scanned anything in years. I pretended I was dumb so she would walk me through it. It worked. Very seamless experience. Prior to finishing this review, I just received an email reply from the person I'm sending this info to. That email reads: "Thanks, Tyler (my pen name). All that's missing now is a copy of a voided check." Back to the library!

The registration was easy but the girl who registered us didn't explained much and didn't say much unless asked she didn't give us any information at all. The selection is ok it's a little bit of everything. There's different area for computer uses some room for learning experiences and there's some kids activity and computer. They have summer break reading activity where you can earn ticket to Carowinds which is cool

There are a couple of spots to sit and read, a few spots for tutoring and a bunch of books. Of course, free wifi and there is a public restroom here. You're not going to find much for quiet as it's really just one large room. Lots of free parking, too. [Review 12630 overall, 2422 of 2019.]

After she calmed down we had some time to kill before her mama returned with the car. We decided to go inside and check out the public library. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is a library that looks and feels a lot like the ones I grew up with. When you enter the checkout desk/librarian area is right in front of you. On your left is the adult area of the library. On the right is the children's section. We hung a right and went to explore the kids stuff. There were shelves and shelves of books and magazines for kids to check out. There were a few on display around the area as well. One corner contained some toys and comfy chairs. My daughter, and some other child that she met while there, grabbed the toys and arranged them for a little story time. She then brought me a dozen or so books to read to her, her "friend" and the toys. We read through each one of them. The two of us then took a walk around the rest of the kid's area. Another corner contained more comfortable seating that were portable so kids could move them to a spot of their liking. There were three or four computers lining the far wall that kids could use for various things. Stretching across the front of the kids area were tables and chairs that were occupied by tutors and students. Overall I felt that the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library was an a-ok place to spend a rainy afternoon. Why not more? Well, like I said, it reminded me a lot of the libraries of yesteryear. In our hometown, Tampa, we have some absolutely gorgeous libraries which not only house books and magazines and DVDs and CDs but also house tons of technology and legos and hands-on learning opportunities and museums and local art. They also put on performances and offer educational classes and spearhead recycling initiatives and basically make the library a vibrant part of the local learning community. These are gold standard libraries. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library isn't bad, it just stands a couple notches below what I've seen a library can be at its absolute best.

Recently had to get CPR Certified for my job. I work in a small satellite office but I will be the…read more"senior" person at the office while my other coworker proceeds toward his retirement. That being said, my company was willing to put me through training so that at least one person in this tiny office can be trained to respond in the event of an emergency. It was super easy to sign up for a course - luckily my company covered the cost... The course gives you access to an online Red Cross portion of training where it is interactive - "choose your own adventure" type interface where you learn the check, call, care skills necessary to put into place and be an effective care-giver. Once you finish the online portion (2-3 hrs)... there is an in-person skills portion of the course. You have to finish the online portion first (and bring your certificate to class). It seems like they had a lot of sessions available... I picked a Saturday since it didn't conflict with the work week, but we spent a good one and a half hours practicing CPR on dummy/manikin and babies/manikins.... wrapped up the session with first aid (how to bandage wounds) and now we were ready to go out there and save lives! Well hopefully it's all preventative skills and you never really have to use them, but I feel better about giving care in case one of my colleagues goes down. Overall, CPR Pros is very professional and provided me with a great experience in training/certification. I was actually really surprised by the interactive, online training, but it got the job accomplished in this fast-paced world we live in.
